I think Destroyer makes some very valid points to be honest. Foley going over Sting the way he did doens't directly harm the Frontline by how it happened, but when Foley eventually drops the belt (assuming it's to a Frontline member) it means less because Foley beat the system (by being the system) to win. Foley dropping the title to Angle or Sting, or even Jarrett may counter that somewhat, but even then the young guys will have gone several months without taking the title from a bunch of old guys way past their primes. That just doesn't look good.
As for what the Main Event Mafia are? I always so them as a group of guys looking to hold on to their spots by ganging up on the younger, less experianced guys. They're past it, but not willing to admit it, and are instead touting a lack of respect in the locker room as the reason they have come together, in short, to protect themselves and force that respect. The only problem with that is the fact they actually had a point. The Frontline showed no respect whatsoever in the build up to the creation of the MEM, and it wasn't even mis-understandings and one off moments of disrespect, it was full on disrepect of anything the MEM had done before and it made the MEM feel like faces, and it was never put right.

So based on the segment from last weeks Impact, the Main Event Mafia are now trying to take over TNA? Is this new, or have I just not paying attention? I thought the "point" to the stable all along has been getting respect?

Angle has been teasing it for a while but last week was only the second time he ever acted on it. He kept saying they were going to take over TNA and run it the way it should be run, basically favouring them.

The episode of Impact where the Mafia took over for the first hour was hilarious. Steiner as announce was golden and Nash and Book on commentary was pure wrestlecrap. That was the second best Impact I've ever seen.
