Sloppy Joe

Samoa Joe used to be the reason I watched TNA, now he's cringe-worthy and is one of the reasons I struggle to watch it in one sitting.

Samoa Joe and AJ Styles were, once upon a time, shining beacons of talent in an otherwise void roster packed with tweeners and second rate "legends" whose storyline screw jobs and swerves made Impact and TNA PPV's difficult to watch. You could always gaurantee that Joe and AJ would deliver, no matter who they faced.

Now Joe has put on so much weight that his matches last 30 seconds. He has a very unfortunate symbol painted on his face, that has zero purpose. He's wearing baggy long pants that make him look like a jobber. He's carrying a plastic knife that's intimidating no one and serves only to make the veiwer feel uncomfortable because TNA are trying to pass it of as real (so they look fucking stupid, and so does Joe), insulting our intelligence (so we feel fucking stupid for watching), and because they obviously seem to think that this is a good idea even though attacking someone with a knife is not something anyone should be doing, real or fake. He is known as the Nation Of Violence, a nation of one as he and others have said... And now they are adding to it. D'oh!

But most dis-heartening is that Joe seems to have lost his passion for it because TNA have worn him down, and watered him down, so much that the Samoan Submission Machine is no longer recognisable.

From what used to be a locker room full of potential, only AJ Styles is left in ring attire that suits him, with a character that people can relate to, and able to pull great matches, seemingly out of his arse, with absolutely anyone in that very same locker room.

IIRC WWE had originally wanted Joe to be in Umaga's role

Taz's FTW title was more like the Million Dollar Belt in that it was basically a prop. Stone Cold's smoking skull belt was the WWE title, just his version of it, similar o how Cena defaced the WWE title with a spinner

Cos it was Cena that did it. It had nothing to do with WWE at all.

I've never liked Samoa Joe, I have many issues with him, but none of them have ever been to do with his weight or appearence. Infact, I bet you folk don't even know how much he weighs, your just complaning about how he looks.

Well, yes John. It is how he looks. He was always big, but now he's saggy and unthreatening... I'd say considering his new (and old, for that matter) gimmick that's a fucking huge problem.

I couldn't give a damn what he weighs, as long as his gimmick suits his look. Currently it doesn't.

I don't so much care if he has put on some weight the guy kills it in the ring. I would like to seem him get back into shape for health reasons. My biggest complaint right now is them god awful pants I think they make him look bigger then he really is. I hope there is a good payoff at the end of this storyline with because right now the guy who was once a HUGE force in TNA and ROH has porb the worst booking and gimmick since Austin Star..

I agree. I can't see why people are fans of his - same with CM Punk {no, I will not watch those infamous Raven feud/ROH videos - so dont bother posting}.

Whether it be when he was competing in the X division, or currently - he bores me, and his promos are cringe-worthy, sometimes worse than Cenas.

Samoa Joe was one of the main reasons I loved to watch TNA like two years ago. I became a huge fan of Joe when he was the ROH champion, to me his matches were always good. They ruined him last year I think, instead of giving him the title when he was red hot, they gave it to him when fans lost intrest. Not to mention the way he was booked. The gimmick he has now is good with the exception of the machette thing. As far as his ring work today, well he can still work but isn't as good as he used to be. Not saying that he couldn't get any better though.

Joe and Punk were two of the best wrestlers in America only a few years ago. WWE's style has brought down Punk a lot while Joe has slowly deteriorated for what i assume is a smilar reason.
