With WWE's older fans being turned off the product TNA needs to get going in the shocking in hardcore aspects of their show. Now I know that Angle caught AJ and delieved a pretty "Sweet Jebus" Angle Slam and Abyss got busted open on the last IMPACT. However, Im talking about hardcore like when the Angle Alliance beat Abyss down and gashed open his head and arms. Im talking shocking like when Judas Mesias came through the ring mat and left views thinking " What the fuck is that thing coming out of the ring!?"
With WWE going PG and aiming their product to a very young audience, TNA once again has a chance to be the alternative. More high flyers, more violence, more edgy angles. Come on TNA, make me want to watch wrestling again!
I don't agree about the hardcore violence point. Stuff like Abyss being cut open the way he was during that beatdown will turn more people off the product than it will attract people to it. I am the first to appreciate the use of blood in wrestling, because it is very important to add drama and excitement to a match, as well as realism, but if anything, TNA overuse it already. This sort of violence only means something if it is used sparingly. We see someone ''busted wide open'' pretty much every week on IMPACT! so why should we care about it anymore?
I definitely agree with the overall theme of this thread though. They need to capitalize on WWE's failings by creating a true alternative to the watered down, child friendly WWE product. However, I feel that in many ways they are doing as much as they could in that department. It is a fine line between distinguishing themselves from WWE and offering a more mature product, while also trying to appeal to a mainstream audience. Their target audience should be people like us, but I don't think it is any lack of violence of 'edginess' which turns people off, more the nonsensical booking.
Yeah that Mesias debut was awesome. Shame they fucked up the character THE NEXT TIME we saw him. That sums up everything I have been saying. It is all well and good having shocking booking, but if you really can't book, you'll ruin it all.

Vince Russo, this is why TNA won't make it past the WWE.
The problem with Russo is that he's a good writer, but not so much a good booker. This is why potential opportunities have been missed in the storylines most notably the MEM vs. Front Line. I mean what the fuck is Team 3D doing there? Weren't they feuding to annhialate the X-Divison last year? And it seems the homegrown TNA stars aren't even the focus of the Front Line anymore, seeing as how Joe is out and Styles is overshadowed by 3D and Rhino.
I do find the product entertaining at times, but like Tom suggested, I think its down to the booking.
i would say it's good as it is, maybe a bit less backstage segments, the segments they do have to make impact. not wwe pg style. i like it when they create chaos, like the MEM/frontline segment with brother Ray returning. a MEM beatdown ends up in angle getting slammed trough a table, that was total mayhem...
-but keep the segments like it is now.
-the matches are also ok, keep giving attention to the X-division, tag team division. (all things wwe lacks)
-now, you can correct me if i'm wrong but is'n it taped always in the same location. i would more tour around, not like wwe. maybe it's not possible to realise but change every month from location, have like a few location. maybe then they can get more people in attendence and the show looks bigger on tv. makes that the people that watching at home see that the show gets bigger.(and better)
Dude, TNA is beyond horrrible. If I am watching something and suddenly I start thinking " Is that nachos or cake Im burping up?" the show has problems.
Beyond the booking of the main event seen which went from wrestling vets vs TNA establishers, to older guys vs younger guys, to MEM vs Frontline, to MEM vs Team 3D. The X division has gone from joke. to serious, to a referee? The tag team division is well just horrible. Beer Money battled Aybss and Morgan, now Abyss and Morgan are in a singles feud so Beer Money is going to move on to fight some random tag team that earned a shot by not being booked on the show for the last month??? I'd be asking myself "Who books this crap?" but I already know who does. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
talking about horrible, do i need to start about wwe neXus
i know this a tna topic, but still... , just gonna mention the champions
-tag team division, uhm, we got Mizz and Morrison that each week have a match against Cryme time, or once in a while Jessy and Festus.
-then you got Carlito and Primo that have no matches...
-then you got new champ Edge(again, probably till wm25), again briljant way to win the title...
-Shelton Benjamin another champion that jobs against R-truth, Helms and now jobbing Undertaker.
-then you got it's All about the Game, Triple H
-John Cena, do i need to start?
and then the bookings from guys like Kane,Big Show,Hardys,finlay,...
So you can say TNA is horrible, but WWE can be just that horrible to... To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
it's easy to badmouth things, but i'm glad i can watch TNA also, i agree the bookings can be done better. but TNA is'n that bad, it's just how you want to look at it.
WWE has alot less spots and bumps now and high flying action which makes you think "nice".
TNA has all 3 of those in potential if fucking russo isnt such a judas and books things people want to see.
I genuinly think weapons will help TNA as you dont see this on WWE anymore. Not blood but chairs, tables etc alot mroe bumps through the announcing table - as im sure every one loves to see it.
On the booking side though i am happy that they scrapped devari as X division champ. But they need to get rid of MEM as to me as soon as they first played that shit theme song it was over and terrible. It should of been joe AJ vs sting and nash for a while - WHILE angle vs jarret was seperate.
