    - The Newb's guide to ROH -

*I got this idea from another forum.

    The Background

Ring of Honor is an independent professional wrestling promotion created in 2002 that is owned by Cary Silkin and booked by Gabe Sapolsky. It began with shows in the northeast area gaining a cult like following in Philadelphia, New York and Chicago and has recently expanded the fanbase to around the country. They hold shows two to three times each month with the DVD's being released a couple months prior to the date of the show, you can purchase all of the ROH Merchandise from ROHwrestling.com. ROH has a newswire and ROH Video wire that keeps fans around the country updated on future shows and late breaking news as well. What separates ROH from any other indy promotion is the work rate of the wrestlers it's hard to look at Ring of Honor as just another independent promotion. Ring of Honor has a fan base like none other, and you're always guaranteed a great show.

    The Sister

Full Impact Pro is Ring of Honor's sister promotion based in Florida, it holds two shows a month and yea it is kind of like a minor league for ROH as ROH calls up FIP talent to its main roster when they feel the time is right e.g. Sal Rinauro. In return ROH wrestlers frequently appear on FIP shows to help the talent and to help draw a bigger crowds.

    The Champions

ROH World Championship - Nigel Mcguinness

ROH Pure Title - Was unified on August 12, 2006 after Bryan Danielson beat Nigel Mcguinness in a title vs title match.

ROH World Tag Team Championship - Jay and Mark Briscoe

Ah, I thought I had that on here. Supercard of Honor 2 that would be.

What Suffy would be talking about is the infamous Cage match with Jimmy Jacobs vs BJ Whitmer. This is the match that put Jimmy out of action for 6 months I believe.

You should really have recommendations for different time eras of ROH. Like, say I want a dvd of Xavier's title reign, which one would be the best? Which DVD would someone get if they want a 2002 one? Focusing on recent stuff is okay, but for me at least, I started checking out 2002 to begin with, not the recent stuff (I started watching mainly in 2006).

I'd add Death Before Dishonor (2003) to the list. London's final match, Red's last match before the knee surgery, Jeff Hardy's only ROH appearance, and the infamous beer being poured down Punk's throat.

The ending show of the year for 2002 is Final Battle, and Xavier defends against Paul London. The first show The Era of Honor Begins is obviously a big show. It features the match that put Ring of Honor on the map basically with Low Ki, Daniels, and Danielson. Also, it features Eddie Guerrero and SUPERRRRR CRAZYYYYYYYY.

The first Glory by Honor is a big show for just the fact...it's the first Glory by Honor.

Well I was just giving you an example of some things that could be added to the first post. Like:

    Champions:

Low-Ki (date of title reign) (name of event from best match)
Xavier (date of title reign) (name of event from best match)
Samoa Joe (date of title reign) (name of event from best match)
Austin Aries (date of title reign) (name of event from best match)
CM Punk (date of title reign) (name of event from best match)
James Gibson (date of title reign) (name of event from best match)
Brian Danielson (date of title reign) (name of event from best match)
Homicide (date of title reign) (name of event from best match)
Takeshi Morishima (date of title reign) (name of event from best match)
Nigel McGuinness (date of title reign) (name of event from best match)

You could do that for all 3 titles and years. Idk, just an idea to make this thread be even more informative.

You have Supercard of Honor II on that list twice.

Change ''Glory By Honor Night I and II'' to Glory By Honor V: Nights 1 & 2 as well so people know what GBH you mean. Put Dragon Gate Challenge and Better Than Our Best on that recommended list too.

I wouldn't say Time To Man Up and Survival of the Fittest 2006 deserve to be there amongst the best recommendations either, but meh.

You should split the recommended DVDs into 3 sections - Shoots, shows and best ofs. Have SS with Punk & Joe, SS with Styles & Daniels and the Punk/Cabana shoot in the shoots to start with. In the best ofs section put Danielson's best of, Joe volumes 1 & 3, all 3 Punk best ofs and the Gen. Next best of.

Supercard of Honor should def be on that list, it has a ***** match on it for fucks sake.

Also, maybe a bit o' discription of the current fueds and angles in ROH would go down nice.

If you're going to do shoots, you need Raven's Secrets of the Ring.

That doesn't make any sense. You can't not be interested in something your interested in....

I'd recommend any No Remourse vs. Resiliance match you can get. Low Ki vs. KENTA. Joe vs. Kobashi. Danielson vs. Aires- 2 out of 3 falls- 75 minute classic.

I'd recommend Brisoces vs. Secound City Saints, Jacobs vs. Whitmer Last Man Standing and Cage match. Nigel vs. Danielson- Driven-. Briscoes vs. Aires and Strong where Aires gives a promo afterwards saying that Generation Next is only down to Aires and Strong. No Evans or Sydal or w/e. CM Punk promo- signs WWE contract on ROH belt-

You shouldn't suggest matches or segments specifically, you should suggest full shows, Shane.

No matches are completely fine. I'll edit them into the main page.

Shane, would like to give a little detailed summary of one of the matches? I could use it as a example.

Meh. I doubt people would buy a DVD for one match when they could just DL it. Just imo.
