    Re: The BTB Discussion Thread

Sorry I haven't cast my votes, but haven't been on here regularly enough until this past fortnight catching up or getting to know new bookers on here.

Yet since being back as of this month more consistently, so much great stuff, I applaud everyone for their work, so many creative writers.

I look forward to casting my votes as of this month to get back into it more regularly.

What would your advice be for someone who wants to book a post-WrestleMania 34 WWE BTB, but wants to focus on RAW and SmackDown specifically? I'm trying to figure out whether to post NXT results and 205 Live results, or incorporate the cruiserweight division into Raw alone, or make the cruiserweight division part of NXT instead. What are your thoughts?

Depends on how intensive you wanna be. I don't think many would be unhappy if you posted monthly results/recaps (set them up as 'Tapings Results' if you want).

Leave NXT out completely in my opinion. If you have no interest in booking it then don’t bother about posting results. Think it would also help with NXT guys coming up to main roster if we dont expect it.

With CWs it’s your choice really but if you don’t want them being a part of Raw where will their PPV matches happen as NXT won’t have room with the North American title now a part of their schedule. I’d just keep them on Raw or even move them to Smackdown where I think they are a better fit.

Yeah, I would like to use the cruiserweights. Seems like 205 Live though is where more of the crucial stuff for them is happening though. So then maybe I should incorporate 205 Live results as well.

You might get some negative comments if you just drop the two divisions / brands entirely. But you can likely get away with covering them in less depth, as Hug Life suggests. Something like a monthly recap, taping results, etc. Just depends if you want to list out every match those shows would have, or just highlight some of the bigger things that happened (debuts, title changes, strong matches, etc).

    Re: The BTB Discussion Thread

So, back in December I was pondering over whether to start a BTB from some time between Summerslam and Survivor Series as I had a load of good ideas, or waiting until Wrestlemania, seeing what happened there, and maybe starting fresh from the Raw after Mania. I have a lot of ideas of things I'd like to do with stories around Survivor Series time, and was intrigued by having to deal in my BTB with the mumps outbreak that made a mess of the TLC card and how I might do things differently. Thing is, looking towards Wrestlemania, I would have ended with several matches being the same or close to the real life card, and whilst that sticks to my mantra of not changing everything up just for the sake of it, would it really be interesting to start a BTB from Octoberish, and get to Mania 5/6 months down the line and have 3/4 matches be the same? I mean, any matches that ended up being the same, I'd have got their differently by putting my own twists on things, I'm not talking just copying the real life feuds from start to finish or anything.

But, with Daniel Bryan being cleared to return just before Mania (not leaving me much room to do it differently), Paige retiring right after Mania (I'd feel conflicted keeping her in when I know she retires a few months later) and a few other things such as Enzo/Rich Swann being released I am leaning towards starting after Wrestlemania, which now means I can take a few months to get everything in place, but then not be miles behind real life dates by the time I start posting. Also, and one big thing here, is that I think (in my opinion anyway) WM34 was one of the better Manias for a good many years, so why try and top it? If it had been a load of crap, it would have been so easy to start late 2017 and build to something much better, but because it was a really enjoyable PPV what is the point in trying to better it when I can just start from the night after which is a really good starting point that is rich with opportunities?

I can do my own Superstar Shakeup, make my own NXT Callups and new signings and go from there. Also, it means I've got a good stretch before my first 'A' PPV in Summerslam, rather than having a couple of PPV's before Survivor Series, one more PPV before the Rumble, and then a couple before Mania. I'd be starting right in the meat of the year.

The only issue now is everyone seems to be looking at doing a BTB starting the night after Mania :D and I thought that might be the case. Also, it would be a shame to nix the great ideas I had for starting around a couple of months before Survivor Series, but I guess I could always play about with them and do then anyway with different people in the roles.

Sorry for this rambling, I just wanted to get some stuff down and get the thoughts out of my head and see if it made things clearer for me going forward. I'm pretty certain on starting after Mania now as it just seems to make sense, but wil see what getting the thoughts down on paper does to my decision.

Might actually come back and write again. Completed two shows so far. I'm not sure what this feeling is inside me.

Better than your old decrepit ass, Wolfie (that is unequivocally not true, actually).

If I do come back, it will surprisingly be WWE circa 2014. I've gone soft and bland in my later years.

Colour me surprised. Sign me up for that. I remember your WWF 2000 thread a few years back elsewhere with the Austin 'Whodunnit' angle, and loved it. So any 'E based thread has me interested.

Fuck it, who am I kidding, any thread you post would have me interested. But I'd especially love to see you booking a PG era WWE thread.

You could say in this PG Era, that I'm... Doing it for the children

But seriously, it's cool to see some of you guys here doing your thing. I'll have to try and check out some stuff here again. I certainly can promise that my work will be nothing as good as you lot.

It's nine years later but I'm still rocking bookmarks on my laptop to pages 73 and 97 for the TTO. That's Starrcade and Super Brawl (dat War Games) respectively.

Sometimes I write stuff on the internet and people like it (sometimes).

So I'm going to try a different route and start to write full shows, starting with the next edition of Raw. Not going to be easy but now I've eased myself in, I feel confident enough to try something a little different.

    Re: The BTB Discussion Thread

As I have grown older, my spare time less, I've found I have no real interest in drawing drama into my matches, especially the weekly TV shows. They're so simplistic. Probably because they hardly have any real value in a week to week format because real story telling us long term over the course of many months, but I totally see the shows I write being basic, and the matches void of any real suspense. It's so bizarre looking back at work from years gone by and thinking, "how in the hell did I write that!?" There's no way I could pull it off now hahaha

    Re: The BTB Discussion Thread

Hey, so I had a couple awful attempts at a thread here years ago that didn't work out for reasons I don't remember and haven't done a BTB in years, but I've been getting the itch lately and have been toying with a couple different ideas for one. Was curious what you guys would recommend as far as if writing full shows or at least full segments is worth it? Not sure what most are doing these days. Also curious if it'd be worth my time to try anything TNA, or if it just wouldn't draw any interest.
