The Search For a New 007

Brosnan Will Not Return For More "Bond"
    Source: eNz Newswire

(eNewsZone) - In a rather interesting move, Pierce Brosnan told Entertainment Weekly that he is done with the Bond franchise. Brosnan appeared in four films as James Bond.

"That's it," says the now former 007, "I've said all I've got to say on the world of James Bond." He says that Die Another Day will be his last Bond film and he's not returning for a fifth movie. "Bond is another lifetime, behind me." [EW]

The next Bond film is scheduled for a November 2005 release. Thus, if negotiations with Brosnan are indeed done, Eon Productions will have to hastily find a replacement.
    =====================================

I wonder who will replace him.

    I never liked James Bond.

It will probably be good for the series though. Give someone new a try and it'll probably garner new interest.

Who would be a good new Bond?

They should go with an unknown. Nobody really comes to mind that would fit the role. Pierce was perfect for Bond.

Haha Eric Bana as Bond would be hilarious.

I find it so hard to take him as a serious actor, because he made a name for himself on Full Frontal, the number one sketch comedy show ever, and now he's this big movie star - it's just not right. It's like if someone left Saturday Night Live, but didn't make any comedy movies, just went straight to starring in Chopper and Black Hawk Down and shit.

I've never seen a single Bond flick. Just wanted to throw that out there...

As for who could play Bond, how about Christian Bale, a.k.a. Patrick Bateman from American Psycho a.k.a. the new Batman. He seems to have the whole suave debonair thing down, and Bruce Wayne probably isnt that much of a difference from James Bond. Rich, good-looking, in-shape womanizers.

Christian Bale can't be Bond though because hes tied up scheduling for Batman and the expected sequel. On an unrelated note have you seen the new Batmobile, its crazy ass Twisted Metal World Tour esque Tank. Very stange.

Another name doing the rounds for Bond is Orlando Bloom which for the sake of humanity and my love of cinema I hope never comes to fruition. Unless they give Bond a stupid blond wig and the ability to do nothing but fire arrows.

Well, it turns out that Eric Bana has not been approached to play Bond. The rumor started in a UK tabloid.

Does it really matter? Bond movies have never been known for being terribly realistic.

I say the guy who played Lancelot in King Arthur. He is delicious.

Iaon Griffith or something along those lines is his name. Hes Welsh and hes scheduled to be a apart of the Fantastic Four film which is in preproduction. I thought he was weak in King Arthur though and hes quite unknown.

Another rumour gfloating around is that Tarrantino has told the Bond makers he would like to do Casino Royale which would be very strange indeed.

Uh, Ida, why did you bump this topic if you had nothing to add to it? Especially when you've been accused of spamming to keep your post count so high. Anyways, I have never seen more than 5 minutes of a James Bond movie and they don't interest me. I'm curious about how well the new Bond will perform.

I bumped it because someone else made a Bond topic and I wanted to let them know about this one as well. I don't spam. I don't have a rep for spamming. I don't appreciate you insinuating that I was. If you have a question like this, you are more than welcome to PM me and ask.

Thank you and have a good day

Big bond fan here, I have to say the last bond annoyed me, too many flashy gadgets + Madonna = a really poor film. It did well at the BO but for me it wasn't bond, I mean, the car for starters was crap! Bond used to be believable but DAD went TOO far with the FX.

lets hope they will do as they say and go back to Basics, something similar to Goldeneye (Brosnans best) will be great.
