Re: 2022 Mens Wrestler of the Year Ongoing Discussion

Blackpool Combat Club have had the monopoly on this in the last 3 years, Regal has good taste.

As it currently stands I’d say Bryan’s my wrestler of the year based on the Hangman match, the Moxley match and then being a delight in every TV match he has, particularly the recent Yuta singles match.

Mox too has a similar resume where you could plug in the Biff match as a substitute for the Hangman match and then have the the same BCC stuff that Bryan has.

However I could see those two working in a tag team opening the door for someone else, probably CM Punk as it stands who has the two MJF matches, the tag against FTR (shit that needs to go on Mox’s case too), the match against Dax and one of the better Wardlow matches we’ve ever seen.

I’ll say it before Indy, Gresham probably is the WOTY but a lot of his work hasn’t been seen with WWE scrubbing his wXw and Progress work, and working so many smaller indies that make his work harder to see. I’ve enjoyed the ROH title defences I have seen, particularly the ones in Impact.

With one quarter of the year done I think CM Punk is my pick by a fair distance. He's had my clear moty to date, and the first MJF match is as good of a 2nd best match as any other I've seen. He's also been very good on Dynamite pretty much every time he wrestles.

Of all wrestlers around atm, Punk feels like every match is must watch.

Since my last post in here we've had Moxley Vs Yuta and Moxley Vs Ospreay from NJPW's Windy City Riot, so Mox has jumped to my #1 spot heading into May.

I am with you on that. For the same reason I considered him last year... He's right up there with dudes like Danielson, Punk and Moxley in the way that he always brings it at a high level in each and every match. However, unlike them, he has less world class talent to go against, which does unfortunately work against him in this conversation. Still though, his battles with Moose, Jonah and Ishii in Impact and his match with Fredericks in NJPW Strong are all killer and enough to at least warrant him conservation here at the moment.

I'd have Josh in a tier below, or at least I did before I watched the Ishii match. What will really work in his favour is working the year as the ace of a promotion, he'll probably have more main events this year than Danielson and Moxley.
