So glad that Kane made it. A long time coming.

I'm surprised Batista got so many votes

    YEAAAAAHHHHHHH

I'm not even mad that Kane got inducted.

It's finally happened. It's been way overdue, but Kawada finally finally made it in. I can rest easy.

Batista getting in is super cool too. One of my favourites and well deserved.

I was such a Batista mark as a teenager so very happy he got in.

Kane is very deserving as well in my opinion. So many memorable moments in his career.

Jake actually came closer than I expected. Seems he may have a good shot next year.

Probably because this isn't the early 2000s when people thought she was the best female worker ever anymore?

Sorry EC, that is my bad. I wasn't able to vote.

She's just not well known enough. Still appears in discussions regarding women GOATs - even if some women today could outwork her.

Re: 2021 WC Wrestling Awards - Hall of Fame

The only time people ever mention her on this forum is every December when ballots are due, then not a peep again all year. She gets a handful of votes from the people that like her at HOF level, and then another couple I suspect from people that think she's the best chance to get a woman into the HOF, but it's never enough to get a top 3 spot. I'm not sure who it was that originally put her name into the mix (probably Zero) but it's a weird tradition now that her name and her name only is put forward as the joshi representative for the HOF without much of a case made by someone apart from the original one years ago.

She isn't wrestling anymore, there's no real classic Joshi fanbase/mentions on this forum beyond Zero and I maybe. Are you saying that the case she had years ago is weak now or something? It IS the exact same case to be made with not much new to it unfortunately. Toyota's achievements and contribution to wrestling aren't retroactively wiped from existence. It's pretty mind-blowing to compare Joshi now to Joshi then and seeing the differences. Maybe I just put too much stock into it. I just don't see why it's not worth mentioning every year the HOF comes up? Lack of females in the HOF, she is my female pick.

If we're pimping a female inductee then I'd imagine Aja Kong or Meiko Satomura would get more traction as a joshi representative

Make the case as in people on this site posting about her to convince others to vote for her, pimp a few matches, get a discussion going. Not ‘what has she done lately’ to get her in. There’s more talk about her now AFTER the results are out. No coincidence to me that Kawada finally gets in after 2021 had more Kawada talk on the board than most years.

Steve the issue with Aja and Meiko is they keep wrestling so technically not illegible for this yet.

She would have made it with my vote, I assume, so it is my fault. It's not really a need to discuss more if she's on the precipice of making it without me doing anything. It's more I am a chump who should learn to vote on time. Could benefit from more discussion? Yeah. Do I think it's worth it? Sadly not I don't think a thread looking at Toyota would generate much discussion unfortunately but could be wrong.

Sure they're both up there. I'd have Kong and Toyota ahead of Satomura on influence alone but think Meiko's probably got a better match catalogue than both. Meiko suffers from the fact that I don't think she's had the same highs as Toyota and Kong and I also associate her more with a later Joshi era. Still think Meiko vs Io is the best Joshi match i've seen.
