October Co-BTBOTM - All. Elite. Wrestling.

Exclusive: Daniel Bryan Has Signed With AEW, Details On What He Asked For From Company
    -Bodyslam.net

Daniel Bryan’s last match with WWE took place back on April 30th on SmackDown when he lost to Roman Reigns in a “Championship vs. Career” match.

It was then reported that Daniel Bryan’s WWE contract had expired on May 4th, 2021. There has been lots of speculation as to what the future holds for the former WWE Champion, as it was reported earlier this week via PWInsider that there were no merchandise or action figure plans in place for Bryan within WWE for the remainder of the year. This led many to believe that Bryan will not be returning to WWE.

In an update as to the future of Bryan Danielson (fka Daniel Bryan), a source I have spoken to has told me that he is “locked in” and has 100% already signed a contract with AEW. In addition, I was told that Danielson was wanting to work less dates for comparable money, he wanted the ability to be able to work in Japan, and wanted to have creative input on his character, which he got. There are also tentative plans already in place for Danielson’s AEW debut.

We will have more on Bryan Danielson’s signing with AEW and potential plans for his debut soon.

CM Punk To AEW Is Reportedly A “Done Deal”
    -Bodyslam.net

Rumor and speculation around CM Punk’s potential in-ring return have been rampant since he left the wrestling business in 2014. Those rumors gained more credence than ever before this past week when Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com reported that CM Punk has been in talks to return to pro wrestling, with All Elite Wrestling being his most likely destination.

Ringside News is taking that bombshell a step further. Reporting that not only have AEW and Punk been in talks, but that a deal has already been agreed to in principle for the former WWE Champion to join the company.

“A source has confirmed to us that CM Punk’s arrangement to work for AEW is “a done deal right now.” At this point, they are “waiting until they are in-person to sign the contract.” CM Punk’s debut time frame was not confirmed, but it would be hard to believe that AEW would pass up the opportunity to involve the Second City Savior at All Out in Chicago if they can. Unless CM Punk pulls out of the deal, it appears that this will go through as planned.”

To say that a CM Punk return to the ring would be the story of the decade in pro wrestling would be an understatement. There has never been this much smoke around the Second City Saint making his long-awaited return to the business, and it’s starting to feel like there has to be a fire brewing somewhere.

    It's August 2021.

With news breaking that CM Punk and Bryan Danielson were both potentially on their away to AEW - along with ratings, both total viewership and demo, hitting some of the best since their debut and live shows now selling the most tickets seen by a non-WWE wrestling company since WCW in 1999 - AEW is riding perhaps it's highest wave of momentum yet.

This pivotal moment in AEW history is where our story picks up. Can AEW capitalize on the momentum or will they repeat the mistakes of a company they've often been called the spiritual successor of?

    This is..

    All. Elite. Wrestling.

(So yeah, stepping outside my comfort zone here with a modern day BTB but my desire to book AEW has been growing for several months. Those disappointed to see this going up instead of "Showtime" continuing...no fear, it's just on the backburner for now as I pursue this project. I have every intention of continuing Showtime because I am pretty darn invested in it.)

This. Is. Interesting. I can see there being a lot of attention on this one, given the hot streak AEW is on, the fact you’re jumping right in at the present day, alongside there only currently being a handful of AEW threads within the section.

Especially looking forward to 12-14 matches every week on Dark & Dark Elevation.

Well, my semi smug "I won't believe it until you actually post it" rep message less than 24 hours ago didn't age all that well...

I have complete confidence in you based off your past work, and it'll be nice to see another quality AEW BTB around as we haven't had many.

Good luck, Dubb. I'm sure you'll kill it.

Looking forward to this. I've just started to get into AEW after sometime out of the loop so I'll be interested to see where you take it from here and how you differentiate from what happens in real life. Good luck, buddy!

    HOMECOMING
    August 4, 2021
LIVE from Daly's Place - Jacksonville, FL

It's Wednesday night, and you know what that means! It's time for AEW DYNAMITE!

The night kicks off with the THIRD Labor of Jericho as MJF has arranged for Chris Jericho to do battle with one of his oldest rivals dating back to his WCW Cruiserweight Days - Juventud Guerrera. A pre-match hype package put over their "storied rivalry" from WCW that featured talking head segments from Tony Schiavone, Dean Malenko, and Sammy Gueverra and highlighted the that that it was Jericho who won a match that unmasked Juvi. In a short promo, Juventud Guerrera talks about he never forgave Jericho for that and he's been waiting over 20 years to get his hands on Chris Jericho once again.

Juvi came down to the ring first, getting a nice warm reaction from the fans in the Daly Place. But Juvi quickly was able to turn the fans on him as he took the microphone, climbed the turnbuckles...and relived his Rock rip off gimmick from WCW.

    "FINALLY....THE JUICE...HAS COME BACK...........to ATLANTA!"

Not quite Juvi. The cheap "wrong city" heat was enough to get the fans turned on "The Juice."

"IT DOESN'T MATTER WHERE WE ARE!"

Juvi hopped down off the turnbuckles and the boos quickly turned to a round of karaoke as JUDAS hit the PA system bringing Chris Jericho out.

Before the match could officially get underway, as seen in the previous two "Labors" - MJF graced us with his presence by joining Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Jim Ross at the announce booth to give his two cents during the match. MJF would go on to make some jokes about the lengths he had to go through to even find Juventud but that he was a lot cheaper to hire than Nick Gage, all he had to do was buy his lunch at the taco truck! Racial jokes aside, MJF touted at how well Juvi looked after all these years and that there was no way Jericho, at "his old age" would be able to win with a move off the top rope!

Guerrera proved to be no slouch and was able to hold his own in the ring after all these years and even during the match would pay tribute to Eddie Guerrero with a Three Amigos rolling vertical suplexes, but an attempted Frog Splash would see Jericho roll out of the way. Jericho's attempts off the top rope included a Flying Crossbody, a Flying Elbow Drop, and a Hurricanrana but all of them were just good for a two count on Guerrera.

Juvi would get a close call of his own after laying out Jericho with the Juvi Driver. He pulled Jericho to the corner before heading up top, looking to break out the 450 Splash, but Jericho was able to recover and pulled Juvi's legs out from under him, bringing him crotch first across the top turnbuckles.

It became a precarious position for both men as Jericho climbed to the top turnbuckle with Juvi, who, in turn, began trying to fight off Jericho. Two legendary former Cruiserweight Champions perched upon the top turnbuckle at the climax of the match, but it was Jericho lifting Juvi up onto his shoulders before STANDING UP on the top turnbuckle...SUPER GUTBUSTER to Juventud - Jericho coming down off the top rope, driving his knee right into Juvi's midsection! Jericho made the cover and picked up three count to withstand his third labor!

As we've seen the past two weeks, MJF got up from the announce booth post match and addressed Jericho.

"Christopher...Christopher...I suspect I may have just been a LITTLE BIT too easy on you this round! And that's MY MISTAKE! That's my bad!"

A winded Jericho leaned against the ropes as the Jacksonville crowd loudly booed MJF.

"But next week...NEXT WEEK...I'm gonna fix that. Ya see, I know how bad you want to get your hands on me, Christopher. But AT WHAT COST? So let's just see HOW FAR you're willing to go to get your hands on me...because NEXT WEEK, your FOURTH LABOR, the final one before you would be able to take me on in your FIFTH Labor...is gonna be...YOUR LITTLE BUDDY - SAMMY GUEVERA!"

Jericho wasn't pleased in the ring and with a shit eating grin on his face, MJF wasn't done yet.

"If you're gonna get to me Jericho, you're gonna have to MAKE YOUR LITTLE FRIEND...BLEEEEEEEED! That's right - IT'S A FIRST BLOOD MATCH!"

MFJ paused again as the crowd ate it up and the announcers provided their own shock and awe.

"But ya see, I know you Jericho and I know your little band of weasels - you'll think you can just have Sammy prick his little finger and call it a match. NOT SO FAST! Because I gotta make this interesting for Sammy to. This would no doubt be his BIGGEST win in his career...but I'm sure he'd have no problem takin' a fall so his HERO can win. BUT I WON'T HAVE THAT! Because SAMMY, if he loses...HE IS GOING TO BE BARRED FROM RECEIVING A SINGLE TITLE SHOT FOR A YEAR!"

The boos grew louder as Jericho was now steaming in the ring.

"So what's it gonna be, Chris? HOW BAD DO YOU WANT ME? Because if you want me, you're gonna have to beat your own friend to a bloody pulp AND take away the one thing everyone in this company is fighting for! See ya next week....Christopher."

Dynamite headed to commercials as Jericho was left stewing in the ring.

Coming back from the break, we got a video recap of last week's 10-Man Tag Team Elimination Match which saw The Super Elite defeat Hangman Page & The Dark Order which meant The Dark Order wouldn't be getting a shot at the tag titles but also Hangman Adam Page had to forfeit his spot at the top of the AEW Singles Rankings, losing a shot at the AEW World Championship currently held by Kenny Omega.

Backstage, Hangman Page was sitting alone, sipping on a whiskey before he was approached by his friends of the Dark Order.

"C'mon Hangman - don't be so down!" John Silver said, trying to cheer up his buddy.

"Yeah! You've worked your way back up to the rankings before, you can do it again!" Alex Reynolds added in.

The rest of the Dark Order echoed the sentiment, but Hangman shook his head and told them he just needed some time to himself tonight. Dejected, the Dark Order followed the wishes of their friend and left him alone with his thoughts and his whiskey.

Women's action this week put the NWA Women's World Championship back on center stage The Bunny battled "Legit" Leyla Hirsch with a shot at the title on the line. However, the NWA Women's Champion wasn't the only person taking interest in this match as TAZ made his way out to do commentary for this one. Tony Schiavone questioned what Taz was doing out here considering it didn't involve Ricky Starks or Powerhouse Hobbs, but Taz revealed that while he has two of the "next big things" in wrestling, what he was missing is the next big thing in the Women's Division - so he was out to do some scouting.

As for the match, while The Bunny has been featured more on Dynamite, Leyla clearly had the skill advantage here. Through a cheapshot, Bunny was able to get the upperhand but got a little too confident, allowing Leyla to fight back and hit an impressive Release German Suplex. Taz seemed impressed as Hirsch was able to lock in a Cross Armbar submission that forced The Bunny to tap out! The Legit One had earned herself her first title shot!

Following the NWA Women's Championship Eliminator, it was announced by Tony Schiavone that the "Buy In" for All Out would feature a Casino Battle Royale featuring the women of AEW with the winner getting a future title shot against the champion, currently Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.

As soon as Schiavone finished the announcement, a video promo by Thunder Rosa. Rosa was excited about the prospect of another Women's Casino Battle Royale - but she did have on little problem and that's that Britt Baker is doing everything to AVOID her. Rosa said she's already number one in the rankings and let's not forget Thunder Rosa was the one that left her in a pile of her own BLOOD in the Lights Out Match! Rosa was issuing a warning to Baker...she's coming for that title and she wasn't going to go through a Casino Battle Royale to get it.

In a match that was challenged for on Dark, the free agents 2.0 (Jeff Parker & Matt Lee) had arrived on the scene and aligned with Daniel Garcia with the intent on calling out three of the "baddest" guys on the AEW roster and to them that meant Jon Moxley, Eddie Kingston, & Darby Allin. Sometimes you should be careful what you wish for! The newcoming trio were able to hang with this VERY popular trio of faces, even getting a heat segment on Darby but ultimately Moxley put Garcia away with the Paradigm Shift to pick up the win.

After the match, Kingston and Darby headed to the back as Moxley wanted to stick around and hang out with the fans for the commercial break...soaking in the cheers...

But in quite the surprise, he was attacked by NJPW's Hiroshi Tanahashi. Tanahashi had come in from the crowd and surprised Moxley, rushing into the rung and catching him with a Sling Blade! Last week Moxley had some strong words for Tanahashi and NJPW for "ducking him" but Tanahashi was here in AEW - the FORBIDDEN DOORTM has been used once again in AEW! Tanahashi grabbed Moxley, lifting him up and dropping him again with the Twist and Shout screw neckbreaker drop..

Before any more damage could be done to the former AEW Champion, IWGP US Heavyweight Champion LANCE ARCHER rushed down to the ring as we are reminded Tanahashi is Archer's challenger for that IWGP US Title in a couple weeks in NJPW! Seeing the Murderhawk Monster on his way, Tanahashi decided to high tail it out - heading for higher ground through the crowd as Archer got to the ring.

Coming back from the break, we once again checked in with "Hangman" Adam Page as he was working on another whiskey. He would be interrupted once again...but this time his company was very unwelcome as it was Kenny Omega, Don Callis and the rest of the Super Elite.

"There's nothing more depressing than a sad cowboy,"
Don Callis noted as they approached Page. Page put his drink down on the table and stared down his former friends turned rivals.

"Hey Don, what'd the bartender say to the horse?" Kenny quipped.

    "What's that?"

    "WHY THE LONG FACE?!"

Kenny and the rest of his merry band of douchebags laughed it up while Page decided to ignore them and take another drink.

"You had to know this was gonna happen. Did you think you and your little loveable band of losers stood a chance against the Super Elite?"
Don Callis questioned Hangman. "It's time to face the music, Hangman. You. Are. A. FAILURE!"

    Hangman took another drink.

"Hey, LISTEN TO ME WHEN I'M TALKING TO YOU! Don't you get it?! You threw away your title shot all because you thought those losers your friends with could hold a candle to these guys. And to think - you chose THEM over US."

    "Easy Don,"
Kenny stepped in, "Look, I know my BUDDY Adam best...and I can see he's hurting. How about you boys give us a minute."

    "Hey, you're the champ,"
Callis obliged and lead the rest of the Elite out of the shot.

Kenny then took a seat next to Page.

"Look - those guys are gone, Adam. It's just me and you - two old pals, just sittin...hangin'...just like the old days. Remember that - the good times we had?"

Nothing from Page except another sip of the whiskey.

"I gotta say, buddy, I'm gettin' a little worried. I know we've joked around about the drinks and all that...but, and this is your old friend Kenny talkin' to ya - not The Champ...not The Cleaner...I think it's time, Adam. I think it's time you got some help. I know a real nice place down in Jacksonville that'll treat ya real good. Because until you kick this little nasty habit of yours, you're just gonna keep down this same path."

Hangman sat the whiskey down on the table, this time drawing his hand off the glass for the first time.

"Hey man, just think about it, okay. I'm just tryin' to look out for my old "partna.""

Kenny finally got up, leaving Omega by himself once again as we faded back to the ring.

In a AEW TNT Championship Match, "The Reedemer" and "God's Favorite Champion" Miro put the belt on the line against the "fan's choice" "Big Shotty" Lee Johnson. The young Lee Johnson showed a lot of heart trying to stand up the the monster that has been Miro, but once again Miro continues his path of destruction - ending Lee with a huge stomp to the back before locking in the Game Over submission. Trapped in the middle of the ring, Lee had no choice but to tap out.

Post match, Excalibur was left to wonder who could stop Miro right now as he's just on a different level than anyone it seems!

Backstage, we found The Inner Circle in their locker room, toiling over the announcement from earlier in the evening that Jericho and Sammy Guevera were going to have to battle each other in a First Blood Match next week, and they couldn't just "throw" the match because if Sammy loses, he also loses out on any chances of any championship opportunities for a whole year.

"I can't do this," Jericho anguished. "I'm not gonna do this to you, Sammy."

    "C'mon Chris..." Sammy argued.

"No! No! I don't wanna hear it Sammy. You know why I brought you into the Inner Circle - because I saw your potential! I knew you were going to be a CHAMPION in AEW and I'm not gonna be the one to rob you of that!"

"Nah but Chris, ya see - if we do that, we're giving MJF EXACTLY what he wants - and he wins either way. Nah, we can't do that."

    "Sammy's right,"
Ortiz added, "we can't that lil' bitch win."

"So what, ya'll go out there and damn near kill each other - doesn't he win then too?"
    Santana questioned.

"Maybe for one night," Sammy stated, "but dammit, we're the Inner Circle - and we will win the war!"

Sammy and the rest of the Inner Circle were fired up, except for Jericho who definitely seemed to still be having some inner conflict as we faded out.

After week's of issues with the Hardy Family Office, last week Christian Cage had lead the Jurassic Express to a trios victory against HFO's Private Party & Angelico, but the issues clearly weren't over yet when The Blade attacked Cage and laid him out with his foreign object of choice, the brass knuckles.

This week, Christian Cage took on The Blade but only was this another battle against the HFO but it also had AEW Rankings implications as the undefeated Christian Cage would have the chance to move up into the #1 spot with another victory thanks to Adam Page having to vacate his top ranking due to his loss last week. Matt Hardy and Private Party would try to interfere to prevent Christian from earning that number one ranking, but The Jurassic Express came to CC's aid as Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus, and yes even Marko Stunt raced out to even the odds! During all the chaos, Christian was able to hit the Kill Switch to pick up yet another win and after the match, we saw the new rankings putting him at number one.

Heading to the back again, this time we found The Super Elite hanging out once again, this time amidst quite a bit of laughter.

"And then I told him...this is your 'old friend Kenny talkin' to you' - you shoulda seen him Don, I think he was about to cry!"Kenny Omega said through the laughter.

"What a wuss!" called out Karl Anderson.

"But yeah, I don't think we're gonna have to worry about him or those loser friends of his anymore."

    "Excuse me, LOSER friends?"

It was the voice of John Silver who was flanked by the rest of The Dark Order! The Dark Order had overheard the entire conversation and now Silver was showing no fear as he approached the champion.

"At least we ARE his REAL friends - and not just a bunch of man-children going through some kind of mid-life crisis."

Omega smirked as he stepped closer to Silver.

"You got a lotta balls to step up to the Champ like that. Guess it takes a big man to talk a lot of game when you got a whole group behind ya."

    "You'd know, right - Kenny?"

"Listen fellas," Don Callis interjected, looking for cooler heads to prevail. "Let's keep this civil. Besides, I'm surprised you guys aren't off drinkin' away your sorrows with your pal - after all, if he had better teammates who didn't all get eliminated, leaving him in a 3-on-1 - he might still be the number one contender! Some friends you are!"

"How about this," Omega said with a smirk. "I know why you guys are here. You feel bad. You want to do right by your buddy. You want...another chance? MAKE OR BREAK TIME BOYS! Because I'm feelin' pretty generous after a heart to heart with my old pal Hangman earlier tonight. But here's the catch - IT'S ALL ON YOU GUYS! All or Nothing! Two weeks from tonight - BEST OF THREE SERIES - Dark Order vs. The Super Elite. Two tag matches - one with the Bucks, one with The Good Brothers...and if it comes down to it, which it won't - you get ME..and Johnny..what is it, Hungry?"

"IT'S HUNGEE" - the entire Dark Order chimed in simultaneously.

"Fine...Hungee...I'm savin' you for last my friend, because it's going to cause me so much joy to watch Hangman lose it all because of his new best little pal."

"Oh, you're on!" Silver said with a smile. "And we WON'T let Adam down!"

    "Oh and one more thing,"
Kenny added, "this time - WHEN the Elite wins...not only does Hangman lose out on A title shot...he loses out on EVER challenging me for this belt!" Kenny turned to Don - "I think as EVPs we can make that happen, right?"

    "That is accurate," Don confirmed.

"See ya in two weeks boys."

The Elite headed off together as The Dark Order was left with the weight of "Hangman" Adam Page's title future on their collective shoulders.

After the break, it was time for some hyping up of next week's action. Next WEEK ON DYNAMITE - the 4th Labor of Jericho - a FIRST BLOOD MATCH - Chris Jericho vs. Sammy Guevera! Also next week, we'll get RAY FENIX going one on one with ANDRADE EL IDOLO! We'll also see a match with TAG TEAM RANKINGS implication between the 5th Ranked JURASSIC EXPRESS takes on the number 2 ranked THE ACCLAIMED.

Next week is also the DEBUT OF AEW RAMPAGE on Friday night at 10PM! And what a way to kick off a new show than with an AEW CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH! That's right - KENNY OMEGA will be defending his AEW World Championship against the new number one contender CHRISTIAN CAGE!

Main Event time - but first, a hype package recapping the debut of Malakai Black when he showed up and delivered a devastating BLACK MASS spin kick to Arn Anderson before also laying out Cody Rhodes. We then see the ensuing brawls between Rhodes and Black over the last couple weeks with a voice over from Black saying he just wants what's best for Cody - the ring is a too dangerous place for a new father. He pleads with Rhodes to just go home where it's safe - be with his wife and family.

Tonight these two clash in Malakai Black's first official match in AEW. As he usually does for these high profile matches, Cody went all out including bringing out some blood during a brawl on the outside as Black busted Cody open using the ring post. It wasn't quite the level of the Brodie Lee destruction of Cody last year but Black definitely looked very dominant as he picked apart Rhodes inside and outside the ring.

Cody would battle back and eventually hit the Cross Rhodes to Black - but BLACK WOULD KICK OUT!

Not wanting to let up, Cody immediately went for a Cody Cutter as Black pulled himself up, but Black caught Cody and shoved him off and into the ropes before connecting with a viscous KNEE STRIKE to the face. Cody was left staggering before Black KO'd him with the BLACK MASS!

Black dropped to his knees beside Cody's body and then leaned over for the pin and picked up the three count for a huge victory in his first AEW outing.

There was little celebrating from Malakai however. He instead continued to look down at Cody, refusing to have his hand raised. Cody began to pull himself up, getting to his knees as Black watched.

"Go home, Cody. Go home" could be seen worded from Black's lips...as he HIT THE PRONE CODY WITH ANOTHER BLACK MASS!

AEW Dynamite came to a close as Malakai Black stood solemnly over the fallen body of Cody Rhodes as a mixture of boos and cheers rained in from the Jacksonville fans.

Very fun start to this. I'm really curious where you go with the Hangman stuff and whether the Dark Order can do it for Hangman. Rosa vs Britt also makes a lot of sense and I actually forgot she was number one in the rankings already. Lastly the Jericho vs Sammy match is genius and a great idea. Something a dickhead like MJF would do.

RIP Brodie Lee. You will be missed

    Re: All. Elite. Wrestling.

So excited to see a show for this BTB already out! Starting off with The Juice vs. Jericho, smart choice. Jericho's labour matches should be opening or closing, no inbetween in my opinion. The cheap heat is a funny call, something I can see Juvi doing. The back and forth is fun to read through, it's clear that you're putting over these guys know each other too well and the endurance of both men is shined good. Well done to have Jericho win with a super gutbuster, a blast from the past move, and technically it's off the top rope so it gets the job done!

I'm curious where Jericho and Guevara goes. Sammy Guevara seems to be a future star of AEW, and giving him no title shot for an entire year will hurt hard for him in this BTB.

Poor Hangman. He blows Dark Order off and it seems he's coping with failure by drinking. I wonder what comes next with Page and the Dark Order.

Bunny and Leyla Hirsch was a fine, whatever TV match with some stakes to it. Also.. Serena Deeb isn't the NWA Women's Champion anymore and she hasn't been for awhile, it's actually Kamille now. Besides that, Leyla Hirsch gets the win which is 100% the right move and I see you may be teasing something with her and Taz based off those post match comments...

Thunder Rosa is #1 in the rankings and calls out Britt Baker. Wonder if that means we're gonna be getting a Rampage match announcement or build up for All Out...

2.0 and Daniel Garcia vs Moxley, Kingston, and Allin goes exactly how you'd expect it to. Honestly I was kinda expecting a bit more write-up for this match since it has three of AEW's top guys, but then again it's really just a glorified squash.

Moxley celebrates the win, and Hiroshi Tanahashi attacks him! I didn't see this coming at all and based off the attack, kinda makes Tanahashi look like a heel, unless that's what you're going for. Archer comes to the save to remind people he's got a defense against Tanahashi at Resurgence.. but I can't help but expect a title change that show.

Adam Page's saga continues, and it's being berated by The Super Elite after a tough L last week. Confirm that his rise to the AEW World Title continues, and Elite look like super assholes as a result of it. Also, I hope he doesn't even think about considering Omega's offer!

Miro squashes Lee Johnson as expected, and gives him another defense under his belt. I enjoyed the Inner Circle segment, a lot of conflicted thoughts. I like that both Ortiz and Santana had different viewpoints on it, as well as Jericho and Guevara. Wonder where Jake Hager went...

Christian beats Blade as expected, Jurassic Express come to the save and Christian pushes up to become number one contender. Wonder how Jungle Boy feels that he just let Christian pass him up in the rankings?

The conflict between Super Elite and Dark Order continues, and I like your portrayal of both groups. Super Elite continue to come off as assholes while Dark Order do joke around, but they get serious when it calls for it. A best of three, All or Nothing is made and I'm thinking this is your way of getting Page in the All Out main event..? Not sure anymore, to be honest, however we could be getting John Silver and Kenny Omega? I like the sound of that.

Routine match announcing, and no Britt vs Rosa for Rampage as I expected. That's fine, but you really should have saved that Super Elite and Jurrasic Express segment if you were going to announce Kenny and Christian on Rampage next week. Seems pretty obvious to me whose winning that Friday night...

Cody and Black was lots of fun to read. Black dominates in the early goings, but of course Cody fights back and tries to finish it off with the Cross Rhodes, but Black isn't damaged enough, so he kicks out. Cody tries too hard though, he uses all his big moves and all it takes is one Black Mass to put Cody down. Really good from the writing of the match to the post match where Black tells Cody to go home and puts him down with another. Malakai Black looks like a big star with a dominant win over Cody, and you've got to have something in store for him come All OUT, right?

Besides that, really good show, as expected. Just a few grievances with the placement of match announcement between Kenny and Christian. I'm not sure how I feel about the Best of Three, because it does imply John Silver potentially getting a victory over Kenny just to get Page in the match, but I'll let it play out.

Good to see this going fast and can't wait to read more Dynamites (and Rampages)!

My God what an awful slip up by me, lol. I completely forgot about that and much like Max Caster's Dark rap, it has been edited from existence!

I haven't read the show yet, but just popping in to say hi, I'll be reading, and I expect every match to feature at least one TOPE SUICIDA, every show at least one Canadian Destroyer, and every write up to feature MOVEZ and PSYCHOLOGY~!

    Re: All. Elite. Wrestling.

I can certainly appreciate you working quickly to get this out before the actual episode of Dynamite aired in case there was an overlap in ideas. What I can say is that you got out on a lead with the opening change, and the fourth labour of Jericho for next week, as the Sammy match is much more intriguing than Wardlow. I especially like the First Blood stip, and I’m really keen to see how that all plays out next week.

Liked you giving Juvi a brief moment on the mic too for some nostalgia, and you definitely win on creativity for the finish of the match, busting out a rarely seen super Gutbuster. Obviously, Jericho has to win next week, but the fallout of that, with Sammy excluded from any title shots for a year will make for some interesting character development in the long run. The later segment between the group at least promises us a proper match between the pair next week.

Probably the one area I feel like you slipped up on a few times on this show was the backstage segments. It felt like most of these were conducted with the “invisible camera”, which is something AEW have pretty much strayed away from as a rule, with there always being some reason (however tedious) for the segment being filmed, like Marvez showing up looking for comments and then things moving on from there.

The Hangman & Elite segments all seemed to have no reason for the camera being there, and especially egregious was the segment where Kenny was acting up like he was trying to be Hangmans friend, then later laughing about it to the Elite. So that’s something I’d hope to see rectified in future weeks with some reason at least for the cameras rolling, even if it meant introducing some hidden camera bit like GTV, lol.

That said, I did enjoy the progression of the program, and as much as the Elite are the biggest turn off for me for AEW, I thought you captured Kenny’s goofiness really well (the shit knock knock joke & “partna” were bang on, imo) and keeping the Dark Order – especially Johnny Hungee – involved in the picture, and leaving it on their shoulders to win back Hangmans chance. You’d expect the Dark Order to come up trumps, but that’d take Kenny to lose to Silver, which just seems counter to how AEW has been booked with their champions hardly ever suffering losses, so that should be interesting to see play out.

1000x YES to pairing up Leyla Hirsch with Team Taz. A perfect fit for that stable, and she’s someone that could do with having more screen time, so even in weeks where she’s not factored in, she’ll get air time with Team Taz. Plus, more Taz is never a bad thing in AEW. Interested to see if your plans have been changed somewhat by Serena no longer being NWA Champion (I didn’t know until Stevens pointed it out either fwiw).

Well, it wouldn’t be an AEW PPV without a Battle Royal or multi man ladder match! Rosa vs. Baker is the obvious money match in the womens division, and with TR stating she’s NOT waiting for the Battle Royal to earn her shot, you’d expect that match to be coming up for All Out. Can’t wait to see you let loose with a Britt Baker promo, especially when she surely hammers home how there’s no record of Thunder Rosa beating her and trying to use that as a reason for the title match not to happen.

When I first read over the show last night, I thought to myself; “there’s no way that six man tag should be going 7 minutes. Mox, Kingston & Darby should be squashing these guys.” So I guess seeing as the match irl went just about the same amount of time as this, it shows that I have no idea what I’m talking about, lol. Not that I don’t like 2.0 – I think they’re a lot of fun and a great addition to AEW – I just assumed they’d been blown away.

Tanahashi showing up to nail Moxley surely sets up a mouthwatering match for All Out (I’ll be honest, NJPW isn’t my thing, so I’m speaking in general terms on that “mouthwatering” bit) though I felt the writing was a bit on the lazy side, as the minute Mox is waiting out in the ring to soak up the adulation for a little longer than Kingston & Darby that just screamed ANGLE COMING! Bit of anticipation there for Archer/Tanahashi too for their upcoming match.

Miro is someone I’m interested to see what you do with. Whether he just keeps killing dudes every couple of weeks, or if a program opens up for him over the TNT title. Hard to see who exactly could match up well with him (plenty of underdogs to pair him up with, but maybe not enough hosses; Archer match has already been done) for a long term angle. But he rules, so him just piling up bodies will probably work anyway.

Christian over Blade is a no brainer. Please end the Hardy Family Office program. Please end the Hardy Family Office, full stop, actually, lol.

Fenix vs. Andrade sounds great for next week, and I sure hope Max Caster has his rap approved before the Acclaimed face Jurassic Express. And the AEW Title match for Rampage is a big positive – somewhere again I think you’ve caught Tony Khan sleeping. That’s a big match for the first Rampage, announced well in advance; thumbs up. And a good move to have Christians title shot on TV, as I don’t think anyone believes he’s going to win the belt, but enough people would like to see the match happen.

Can’t believe you didn’t have Cody tease a retirement at the end! Absolutely the right move to make for the main event, putting Black over Cody was the only thing you could do here in order to capitalise on the buzz Black has since coming to AEW. I wonder if the second Black Mass after the match will be enough to put Cody on the MIA list for a while, or if there’s more to come here, but the right decision to put Black over STRONG on his debut.

Probably a few angles fewer than you’d typically expect to see on Dynamite with the backstage segments all being Elite/Inner Circle stuff and no in ring/backstage interviews, but I’ll put that down to the necessity to try and get out ahead of AEW before Dynamite aired for real. Strong start though, and next weeks showS look promising with the announced line up for Dynamite and the main event set for Rampage.

    Re: All. Elite. Wrestling.

Excited to see this up and running! I’m Just going to drop some of the things I liked the most on the show, because I actually enjoyed everything!

I felt like you got the cadence of the Super Elite exactly right, I could here Kenny in his promo’s during the night (except maybe the one asking Hangman to stop drinking, but that was probably meant to be a shift of character from Kenny there, so no complaints about that).

The Sammy Guevara vs Chris Jericho match is super intriguing just like other’s have said, and something different than just another opponent for Jericho to predictably overcome.

Christian vs Kenny Omega on Rampage is the right choice, still worried this might be where they are going for All Out IRL.

Leyla Hirsch potentially in Team Taz is awesome and something I myself actually booked and enjoyed when I did my own personal AEW booking. She’s just a perfect fit with Taz due to her style and size.

The stipulation for Hangman to get a shot at the title still is intriguing, but worried that you might have booked yourself in a corner where Silver has to beat Omega, which is not the right move in my opinion at this moment with Hangman Page being deserving of the moment.

Black vs Cody was just like it should have been, puts over Black strong and we did not have to listen to a fake retirement for 7 minutes which was great as well. Guessing Cody goes to film the Go Big Show in your BTB here as well?

All in all, really great start to this BTB and I’m excited to see how you differ compared to what AEW does in real life!

    AEW NEWS

All Out, scheduled for Sunday, September 5th, finally started to take some form with the announced "Buy In" match of a Women's Casino Battle Royale for a shot at the AEW Women's World Championship which will feature 21 women's division wrestlers and the rumor is that at least one debut will happen during this match.

And speaking of the Women's Division and All Out - following Dynamite, the Women's Championship match was announced for All Out following Thunder Rosa's call out of champion Britt Baker. These two delivered perhaps the AEW MOTY to this point in their Lights Out match earlier this year and now Rosa will look to defeat Britt once again, this time with the AEW Women's Championship on the line at All Out! An official contract signing was announced after Dynamite as well, to take place next Friday on the first ever episode of AEW Rampage!

Meanwhile, Britt Baker was all over Twitter disputing Thunder Rosa's claim of ever beating her (referencing the fact that 'Lights Out' matches are unsanctioned) - saying she does not see any such loss in the record books!

This is in addition to a huge AEW World Championship match set for the debut episode of Rampage which will put #1 Ranked and Undefeated Christian Cage against the champion Kenny Omega.

Nothing officially announced for the card of the 2nd episode of Rampage, "The First Dance" emanating from the United Center in Chicago but there continues to be some pretty heavy rumors about who could show up.

2.0 and Daniel Garcia impressed in their match with Moxley, Kingston, and Allin on Dynamite. Don't be surprised if we see more of all three on Dark moving forward.

And speaking of Dark, there's been some rumblings about changing things up a bit and having some more Dark-centric storylines and feuds among some of the young and even unsigned talents. We've seen that some lately with the Acclaimed/Varisty Blonds being a primarily Dark feud.

All Elite Wrestling Re: All. Elite. Wrestling.

    [ R E V I E W ]

Usually I'd be turned off by a AEW booker that has Punk show up because it can come across that the project is hooked on that but that now seems to be the daunting reality we're facing. I really enjoy the layout and presentation of your show, the roster page - so much - only because doing it by stable makes those unassociated look 'lesser than' but honestly that's my OCD raging and nothing 'wrong'.

Was your first show based off of match announcements for the most recent AEW? I watch Dynamite when I can but I don't see much in the way of match announcements but it was just uncanny how many things that were picked up so I can only imagine you used that as a basis?

The Labor Chapters is a love/hate storyline for me, on the one hand it does feel like storyline mode of a Raw vs SD game but on the other hand it's a simple way of making a 1 vs 1 person feud feel more unique. I was perplexed in reality with the choice of Juvi, however I really sppreciated that he got a bit more of a spotlight here than real-life. The Super Gutbuster definitely feels like a more definitive way compared to what we see in real-life. One of your challenges in your pilot (and likely a few shows after) is that there's going to be these real-time comparisons but that will mellow out and fortunately for you, I think your booking makes so much more sense. I get the Wardlow thing in reality but it feels a tad predictable, MJF has creative freedom for these matches so to really capitalise on that and add actual consequences not just for Jericho but meddling with the Inner Circle is so much juicier (not to mention the general atmosphere of a First Blood Match). As mentioned above, Guevera is loaded with potential so part of me can't envision him being banned from a title opportunity, however we can't have Jericho lose before this has all played out - so I become intrigued about the decision based on how everyone will be affected, not just the main storyline, which is a really nice way to capture the reader's attention.

Short and sweet segment with Hangman Page and The Dark Order, I can understand the criticism of these imaginary cameramen angles. I think it would've worked just as easily and fit with the tone to do an interview as they did in real life. However, unless it was mentioned, I probably wouldn't have picked up on that. I don't think it's earth shattering and it's all part of the learning, we become so familiar with WWE tropes that it becomes the go-to formula in these projects - that being said, this is your project and there's nothing stopping you changing or adapting the way things are done.

The NWA Women's World Championship eliminator felt so thrown together IRL that there this was never going to feel like a big match, especially as Mickie James has been putting in these hours on Impact to present Empower(rr) and yet this was just shuffled in there? Again, this isn't so much a criticism against you and I think you've added an interesting element with Taz scouting Leyla Hirsch but what I will say is it felt quite randomly done. I felt like we could've had something that lead to this or at least suggested that Taz was looking in the first place.

I LOVE what you're doing with Britt and Thunder Rosa however, Rosa has a legitimate claim on the title but I enjoy that Britt is striking it from the records as per the stipulation. Simple but effective story-telling and while it wasn't in the show itself, I think this is where your online news articles can really benefit a storyline and keep an existing story fresh. Meanwhile, The Casino Battle Royale is a staple, it's not the most interesting match to me (it always feels a bit TNA) but I'm intrigued to see who will be included.

I think I read this show before I saw Dynamite which is why I was so confused about how you had 2.0. on the show. I don't know whether they're going to be prominently featured but given the competition, it made sense for Kingston, Moxley and Darby to go over. I'm not overly familiar with Tanahashi (my bad!) I was a bit confused as to why he attacked Moxley (or why Kingston didn't help in any way) but then Archer running out as if he had anything to gain other than potentially intimedating his contender? I sometimes feel that Archer is booked a bit like an afterthought that the company wants to keep strong so he puts in the hours when needed - often in a supporting role - so I would like to see you book him as a much more established character, beyond just being a big guy.

I actually enjoy that alcohol is acknowledge in AEW, it's not a taboo subject (well I guess in this context it is) bit I just think this whole gaslighting segment with Omega and Page was really well done. Firslty acknowledging the history between the two men, Don Callis playing bad cop and Omega playing the 'good cop', all while trying to 'look out' for someone who proves to be a pretty big threat to him.

I guess the TNT Championship match was to display Miro's dominance, besides that it just felt 'there'. I was hoping maybe we would see something post-match but sometimes you have to sow the narrative beats before you can reap the benefits.

I enjoyed the Inner Circle reaction airing the same night. Again, could it have fit within the AEW-style? Yes, but did it get across what it needed to? Yes. I like the thought process that the match is only one night and rationalising things. I'm hoping that despite MJF's best efforts, the match actually moves forward without too much overbooking or screwy finishes. As I said earlier, I'm really drawn into the possibilities with this match, even though it feels like there's one true answer, there's a lot of ways you can get to that end goal.

Matt Hardy has a knack for reinvention but I feel like that can only take him so far these days and this feud with Christian, is not what the latter needs to elevate him for a World title feud. I feel like Christian needs some sort of build before we look to the Omega match because the cluster-f*ck of the HFO stable and The Jurassic Express playing back-up for back-up sake just feels like it serves a purpose as a mid-card storyline but now we've got someone who should be carrying forward momentum that they've yet to achieve to make the feud feel like it has grit and realism to it.

One quick presentational point is speech colours with multiple people, I know it can look messy to have the colours of the rainbow for everyone who talks but sometimes it's confusing when everyone is in the same colour. That being said, I love the rub Silver gets from this segment, he's another talent loaded with potential that could go far if booked correctly. The stipulation makes sense and we have seen Omega is doing everything we can to make sure Page is out of the picture but given that MJF has already pulled the 'you can't challenge for the belt card', I think I would have rather this just been a match about pride and had Omega continue to eliminate Page in other ways.

Black with a decisive victory, thankfully no unlacing of boots or theatrics from Cody. I don't know whether "Go Home" was a reference to the 'Go Big Show' that Cody is likely going off to film and possibly a dig that Rhodes is becoming more a media personality these days (otherwise I've completely read into that way too much) or maybe it was tying back in with the 'Homecoming' subititle. I like that the fans are split down the middle on Black and with Rhodes written off, I wonder where you can go from here? Black feels like he needs a hot feud but with Omega occupied and Miro on his own streak, it kind of leaves a question mark hanging. I'm interested to see where this goes next.

I always enjoy the rankings aspect of AEW, nothing monumental at the moment but it's a nice touch. I don't know whether you've considered using the rankings in your match headers or your winner sections in the show itself? I feel with Rampage on the way, AEW already has a lot of shows (I never saw the need to have both Dark and Elevation) but it would have been neat to have seen some match descriptions for at least one of the show to demonstrate the slow build of new stars or just to touch base on how you're keeping other strong.

Overall, it probably sounds like I had a lot of criticism but as I said, you'll probably get a lot of comparisons drawn to real life just because you are diving straight into real-time. Nothing about this show offended me, I actually really enjoyed it and there's elements that I prefer over what is happening in real life, so get writing because I'm really excited to see where this project takes you next!

    Re: All. Elite. Wrestling.

LOL at Juvi bringing back The Rock gimmick. That was an awesome moment for sure, and MJF’s racist barbs were done well too. Jericho is OBVIOUSLY getting the win here, but the aftermath is what we’re here for. Already much better than in real life, with MJF forcing Jericho to face one of his friends being a terrific twist. The idea of putting something worthy on the line to motivate Sammy to not just throw the match adds an extra layer of drama to. Really good start.

Hangman has been on such an AWESOME journey so far in real life. Intrigued to see how you continue it here. It makes complete sense for him to be down in the dumps after last week though.

Taz adding a woman to his group is something I can get behind. With Hirsch’s style, she’s a pretty good choice too, imo.

Casino Battle Royale? Okay. I guess that’s actually not a bad way to feature all of the talent that you do have in the women’s division. Thunder Rose promo on top of this was fine, as she seems the most logical next challenger. Solid stuff.

Obviously the more well-known trio were always winning here. A nice surprise appearance by Tanahashi here, and it seems like he’ll fight Moxley at some point. In terms of what’s coming next, Archer trying to get at his next challenger works as well. This Forbidden Door stuff is going to be interesting in the sense as to whether or not you detail any of the stuff happening with AEW talent outside of AEW.

The arrogance of The Elite in full swing here with Don Callis and Omega making lame digs at Hangman lol. Interesting once Kenny got rid of The Elite and got a little more serious, basically offering to send him to rehab. Surely that’s not how you write out Page, if you plan on writing him out at all.

I hope Lee didn’t get in as much offense as he did IRL against Miro.

Interesting approach here with Sammy seemingly being all for fighting Jericho next week. Not necessarily for selfish reasons though, but so they can win the war. Jericho not as sure of this works well, and I can’t help but feel that next week has some huge implications either way.

Yep. Christian wins this one as expected. I know he’s number one in the rankings and whatever, but I’m really hoping you just find a way to actually make his run interesting. Despite a good win/loss record, his current run is pretty uninspiring.

Enjoyed Kenny being a douche about his previous conversation with Page. I’m torn on this best of three series stuff though. LOL at Hungry. Makes sense in terms of you personally getting Page back into the fold, however I just can’t help but feel as if this is pretty uncharacteristic of Kenny to gift in essence Page another chance. Especially after he just snuffed those chances out last week. Not very logical.

Two exciting matches for next week’s Dynamite by the looks of things, and I’m pumped to see The Acclaimed get some shine as well. Andrade/Fenix is definitely where it’s at though. Considering how lukewarm Christian is at the moment, I’m all for you giving him the title shot at Rampage. Gives the first show a big match which is just smart booking, but also allows for you to hopefully find something better for the PPV.

A dominant performance from Black in the main event but different from IRL which is lucky lol. Can’t fault any of the booking here, exactly what needed to happen, and Cody bled because that’s how he rolls. Can’t help but feel these two will meet again but intrigued to see how you manage Black in the interim.

A pretty solid first show, with a few improvements from in real life already.

    Re: All. Elite. Wrestling.

I like the pre match hype vignette to give the match, ahem, Juice, and like you having Juvi try to wrestle as a heel since it was fucking weird IRL that Jericho was doing heel shit like trike to rip off the mask. Speaking of, kind of hilarious to have Juvi reference the mask since he's gone all Rey Mysterio and wrestled in it again anyways. Also, HOW THE FUCK DIDN'T YOU REFERENCE DEAN MALENKO WITH THE SUPER GUTBUSTER!?!? You're better than that, Dubb! Oh, let's be real: MJF's racism would have gotten him a pop in NC >_<

I love the 4th Labor. Guevara going a year without a title shot is a great stipulation to make him want to try and win, and the First Blood is also great to make them try to hurt each other. A much better Labor than AEW's if we're being honest.

Hangman not being as emo as IRL works for me.

Fuck yeah, Hirsch finally joining Team Taz!!!! All about that very popular booking choice. Thunder Rosa vs Britt Baker again makes total sense, although I'm curious how a crowd would view that given they're both pretty much universally loved.

I'll call it a miss that Tanahashi came through the crowd like a total heel, and that Archer was involved in this too. I'd rather Tana's AEW debut be more announced than the Ace coming in like a 90s WCW evil foreigner. Dude's going to get a big reaction from the AEW crowd, so would rather lean into that.

I love Kenny Omega: Dad Jokes. Bangkok, long face, I'm here for it. I also really liked the faux concern obviously patronizing "it's your friend, your buddy, not the Cleaner/etc" shtick. REALLY loved that line.

All about the short AF match write ups, as we discussed. AEW is work rate heavy and that's just never going to convert well to writing, so why try? Just give me one paragraph of Miro killing.

Inner Circle segment and Christian Cage winning were things that happened alright :P

FUCK YEAH, GIMME JOHNNY HUNGIE VERSUS OMEGA!

Obviously I loved that segment, and I think you did well to get around last week's stipulation w/a Double or Nothing type stipulation here. He's made good because it's Kenny and the heels doing it, and not the faces, not even DO. Using the arrogance and megalomania of Omega was a really good booking choice.

While you didn't booking Black/Cody match as well as AEW did, you didn't book that stupid shit post match, so the zero self indulgence certainly more than made up for it for me! Black still looks great, Cody still hopefully goes bye bye for a bit, it's all winners!

Idk if it's because these characters are so fresh in my mind and therefore well established, but the very shortened style was more than enough for me. Felt like I got all that I needed from it!

    Re: All. Elite. Wrestling.

    HOMECOMING, August 4, 2021 - Review:

    - So firstly, I like the presentation. Those dividers from BT are really nice. Length is good too.

    - Aside from the finish of the match, I enjoyed your third labor of Jericho more then in real life. The video package and the small promo from the Juice made it feel a little more important and of course referencing their history was a nice touch, too. Jericho was of course going to win and the fourth labor set up by Jericho is super interesting! I like it. Got real creative with this one because it would have been so easy to go with Wardlow but with Sammy, and the stipulation, it's intriguing.

    - I don't mind the whole hidden camera thing when it comes to segments, especially in btb form. Unless someone mentions it or something obvious stands out that makes it weird or awkward it's whatever to me. I'm not a fan of the Dark Order either irl - but that said - I thought you got the characters right here with the continuation of 'sad' Hangman Page and the Dark Order supporting him with the whole goofiness of Omega and the rest of the Elite. Omega mocking Page in the second segment as he's telling the Elite what happened was especially fitting to something I could totally see them doing Haha!

    - Taz scouting and looking to add a women to his stable is really cool and Leyla seems like a good fit honestly. Totally fine with the announcement of the Casino Battle Royal, I suspect we will get a debut or two so that's exciting! Continuation of the Baker & Rosa feud was carried well here. Nice job.

    - Okay, so the next segment I wasn't keen on and it's only for one reason. I'm not a NJPW expert by any stretch of the imagination but from what I have seen, Tanahashi is like a super-face, almost like a Cena of Japan and I just couldn't see him turning up and attacking Mox from behind. Such a heel thing to do and then he ran when Archer showed him. Yeah this was a miss for me personally man. I feel like he would have got cheered with his appearance and just a stare down and having Tanahashi live on Dynamite face to face with Mox would have been great on it's own.

    - Lee Johnson showing heart but Miro coming out with another dominant win was good simple booking here. As Excalibur said, who can stop him? I'm excited to see who steps up and tries nevertheless.

    - Nice segment with the Inner Circle here. Adds some layers to the match.

    - Hardy Office, meh. This was all about Christian though and he picks up another win and takes the #1 spot to challenge Omega. Sweet! All good with me.

    - Very interesting call going with Dark Order vs Elite with the added implications. Really intrigued how you book this match because from the outside, it seems like possibly booking yourself into a corner with it likely coming down to Silver & Omega. I can't see Omega losing; but not having Adam able to challenge would be tricky as well but I guess we will see. I'm intrigued man so it's a good thing - I want to see what happens.

    - Andrade vs Fenix next week? YES! YES! YES! Gimme that. Rampage incoming and I love the idea of starting the first show with an AEW World Championship match between Omega & Christian Cage.

    - MAIN EVENT TIME! And.. WAIT.. NO RETIREMENT TEASE?! WTF? Jokes aside - This was GREAT man! Typical stuff from Cody in the match and him bleeding but this was all about Black as it should be and I think you nailed it man! The ending with him mouthing for Cody to go home followed by another Black Mass was lovely!

Overall; Never easy to follow on from IRL but I think you actually made this show better then it was in real life. I really liked the Main Event and the fourth labor of Jericho is really creative and unique man. Taz scouting and the Dark Over vs Elite feud is also really intriguing. A lot of good stuff going on with only the Tanahashi/Mox segment not landing for me personally.

Excited to read and see more of this, Dubb. Good work man!
