I'm keeping an eye on Miro if the Arcade street fight Miro is what we get going forward as a singles act in AEW.

I'd be surprised if this winner doesn't come from AEW from either Britt Baker, Miro, or all the young talent that could go on to have good 2021s like QT's students, Jade Cargill, Powerhouse Hobbs etc.

I'd say Darby Allin, last year seems he was trying to carry himself with just props and such. He's been doing that a bit less and he seems to be building his character a little bit more instead of going, "yes, I will do anything to myself to hurt you".

A wrestler can still be "good" and still be much improved.

He can but I think if you deserve the Most Improved award despite being good at the time, you have to turn into the best in the world.

I'm keeping two eyes on Miro because my prediction seems on the money.

Re: 2021 Most Improved Wrestler Ongoing Discussion

Miro seems like a decent shout. But it comes down to ultimately what does 'improved' mean? He's gone from criminally underappreciated jobber in WWE to a horrible debut in AEW to now finally being a beast again. He's doing great work, but he was doing similarly great work in 2014-15. I'm a fan but I think his booking has improved more than Miro himself has improved. I haven't really seen anything that's made me go "as a talent he's improved from where he was 6 years ago."

Moose has genuinely improved for me. There's still rough edges but I didn't watch any Impact for a while and had a pretty low opinion of the guy in the past. I think he's really improved and grown as a talent since then though after recently watching some Impact. I can see what Impact see in the guy.

I honestly think Otis has some potential in this come years end. Wasn't a fan of his heel turn at first but that was simply because there was nothing wrong with Face Otis, until WWE essentially butchered the character and took everything away from him. I think there's a lot of potential for him to grow beyond comedic tag team guy now. I'm buying him as this beast he's booked as. But I feel like that will largely come down too what does 'improved' mean again.

Moose has improved in my limited viewing of him this past year, but definitely need someone who watches Impact more religiously to weigh in on that.

My eyes are on Tay Conti, especially after this filler Britt/Nyla feud is complete.

Re: 2021 Most Improved Wrestler Ongoing Discussion

I think Tay Conti is a good shout for this so far, unless I’m forgetting someone glaringly obvious. She was pretty rough in NXT and her performances never indicated she’d be involved in anything resembling an entertaining match. I think I’ve been proved wrong on that assessment with almost all of her AEW outings this year. A damning indictment of the Performance Centre perhaps?

I’m really enjoying Miro at the moment, possibly my favourite act after Darby Allin, but I don’t think he’s pulling up any trees in-ring and I never once thought he was a great wrestler when he was in WWE. I can’t actually remember him being involved in a great match during his run there to be honest. They’ve finally got his presentation right in AEW, but other than the Darby match he’s not having great matches. I thought the Archer match would be the acid test and that was really average.

Britt Baker could be a shout from this. Still not a great in-ring talent but considering she started as someone who looked diva-level, I think she's come a long way.

Jungle Boy may be my main guy for this. Was green as grass when AEW started and is now really good and one of the best young talents they have.

I guess it’s how you define an ‘improved talent’, Britt was stuck in a bland and generic gimmick but was still decent in the ring. I think sometimes people enjoy a gimmick more and then start to think that they’ve improved as a wrestler. I wouldn’t advocate Britt for this reason, also her turn took place well before 2021, I think there’s probably better candidates.

I think it's more than a gimmick change with Britt. She looked like she couldn't string 3 moves together without blowing something when AEW first started up. I think there are better workers on the AEW roster but she's rock solid and had a career performance in the lights out match.
