    The Desert Island Draft

    The Desert Island Draft

Another one? Okay I know what you’re thinking, but stay with me here. So this is a bit of a variation on what we’ve been seeing with these drafts that have been going on recently. Rather than deciding who has the list of things that we like the most, we’re going to be testing WC’s survival skills.

    The Island

Each player will be stranded on a desert island. The island is in the middle of the sea, where there are fish in the water. All you’re wearing is a t-shirt and a pair of shorts. On the island is not very much, but you’ve managed to count 10 coconut trees, a rocky stream that runs into the island. There are also two pigs (one male and one female) and four chickens. Aside from these things, all that you will have on the island are the objects that you choose in the draft.

    The Rules

    - The Draft is for 8 players (any more would be too hard when we get closer to the end) and each player will be able to choose 8 objects in the Draft to have with them on their island.
    - Draft order will be randomised and the Draft will follow the snake pattern as with all other drafts.
    - Players will have 8 hours to choose their objects.
    - You can pick anything you want that will help you for your survival, although to keep with realism, you can only choose things that one would reasonably expect to be able to craft on your own. For example, an oven or a gun would be a no no. I’ll leave this up to everyone’s discretion, but let’s try to be reasonable. If the majority of people involved think a pick shouldn’t count then it won’t. This isn’t to say that it HAS to be something that can be crafted on an island, more so just not things that definitely couldn’t or things that one wouldn’t reasonably expect to have if trapped on a desert island. So a penknife would be fine for example.
    - If a ‘type’ of item is chosen, then someone cannot choose something of the same type. For example if someone chooses a penknife, then that’s all knives out. Otherwise everyone would just list similar but different types/brands of knives.
    - Once everyone has chosen their 8 objects, you will be paired off into ties (standard knockout formula) and others can vote on who would be more likely to survive. Players can also use this time as an opportunity to explain the rationale behind their picks.

    2. Tig
    3. Wang
    4. Sulley
    5. Dustin
    6. SS

Any questions give me a shout, although it should be straightforward enough.

Here I was thinking this was going to be our version of the Desert Island game from The Office's The Fire episode.

    But I'm still in.

    Re: The Desert Island Draft

Alright then, that is the eight sign ups we wanted!

The draft can now commence. I have randomised the order and it is as follows:

    Dustin
    Wang
    Sulley
    Shawn
    Dubb
    SS
    Blaine
    Tig

So that means that Dustin is on the clock, and has 8 hours to choose his first object for survival!

As noted in the OP, if anyone thinks that what something someone has chosen isn't in the spirit of the game or within the set criteria, then we can discuss in here whether we think that it should stand.

I thought you had to be able to realistically craft the item on the island?

But if Dustin will lend us a light when I draft a pack of Camels I'm fine with it.

This isn’t to say that it HAS to be something that can be crafted on an island, more so just not things that definitely couldn’t or things that one wouldn’t reasonably expect to have if trapped on a desert island. So a penknife would be fine for example.

    Re: The Desert Island Draft

I appreciate it that it is all a bit vague, and completely understand that is my fault for not being clear enough. I think the best way to approach it is a common sense thing. What would you want as a survival item were you deserted? What would help you survive? Just don't go too crazy and say something like a gun or a lazer.
