That's the second time Mahomes has injured himself on a short yardage situation. His style of play isn't sustainable, it was only a matter of time.

    Am I doing this right?

I think most of his designed run plays are still acceptable, but that particular one was a really dumb call.

What a wild ending. I can't believe that was the play call on 4th and inches. Genuinely stunned, which I think the Browns were too. That is a very ballsy call to make with Henne at QB

Andy Reid is a gutsy motherfucker. I hated that playcall but I respect the shit out of him for trying it.

Re: 2020 NFL Season - For as long as such a thing can last

I think they would have won, either way. But the call was fun.

Mahomes gotta take it easy out there, though. The dude can kill you as a pocket passer, so the cute stuff isn't always needed.

Browns looked pretty solid in the second half, Chiefs looked about as expected. Really good first half, so so second half with enough to get the win. Be interesting to see if Mahomes can manage to get back in time for the championship game.

I think the winner of the SB comes from the NFC this year, regardless. I really do feel Bills are the strongest team in the AFC overall that is left. I also really feel like Brady, Brees, or Rodgers is getting another ring this year. And I'd be happy to see any of 'em get it.
    Everything will surely be alright.

    Certainly so.

    Rough night.

I'd still love to see him come back again for another year. They have had the absolute worst playoff luck.
    Everything will surely be alright.

Honestly think its best for the saints that they move on from Brees. Hall of fame career, all time great, but hes just nowhere near that anymore and I really feel like he held the Saints back more than he helped them at this point.

    Possibly so.

He definitely seemed to be giving the nod to Jameis.

If that's the last time we see Brees, then what a career. Would have liked to see his career go on at least one more match but it wasn't to be. Will be interesting to see what Saints do going forward. Given Payton's record without Brees over the last couple years, I think they'll be fine.

If he does retire, at least Brees will still be there in dead cap space lmao.

Re: 2020 NFL Season - For as long as such a thing can last

I can see Brees restructuring his deal with the Saints to spread the $36 million cap hit over X number of years (if this is even legal, which I think it is). They'd have to do so before he retires, though.

I think he's retiring. I think he made a bet with himself to make this the last season, win the SB or lose all 16 games. He isn't good enough to win the SB anymore on his merits — a la Peyton Manning in 2015 when his defense carried him — and absolutely held the team back. His first interception was entirely on him. He had some horrid passes that fell for incompletions. His second INT was partly on him and his third INT is whatever. You have to force it there, and Jared Cook played like dogshit all game.

Would Jameis or Taysom as the permanent starter been better? Not entirely sure, but likely not, for a number of reasons, but they're absolutely better options for 2021-2022.

Brees should — and I think will — retire. That all being said, he's a Super Bowl winner and the greatest Saint ever. He's also a top-10 QB of all time (fringe top 5) and nothing from his drop in play this season or last season undoes anything. He's a legend, and I'll take one Super Bowl win. Two is only a talking point because of getting so close numerous times in the past decade.

I'm not confident enough to make a pick for money or property, but I think Green Bay wins the NFC title next week. Congrats to the Bucs, though. They were absolutely the worst matchup possible for us on the NFC side, and I knew it coming into the playoffs.

Re: 2020 NFL Season - For as long as such a thing can last

If he retires, all of his guaranteed money accelerates to the year of retirement, so Brees can't really help them unless he decides to convert it all to P5 salary and then take none of it.

Their better option is to figure out what they're gonna do with Taysom Hill and potentially restrucutre his deal to reduce the $16m cap number he's gonna carry next year.
