I love Sydal. He was so good back in the day, and it's a shame he never got another shot in WWE after his firing.

He's up against an all-timer in Austin though. Tough draw for Sydal, but there you go.

Austin actually has a better SSP too, he just never did it cause it didn’t suit the character.

I love Sydal but I can't go against Austin here

I feel like I missed the peak of Sydal's career, I always thought of him more as someone who would have good matches but struggle to connect on anything emotional/serious to take matches to the next level. He was alright this last decade, but I think it would be a real push to say he was a top 100 guy during that time.

Austin has a couple things that would stop me from voting him all the way to the final, but his peak is about as great as anyone's is and I really enjoyed his WCW work when we did the WCW match list. Stone Cold is the first person I think about when I think American wrestling.

    Austin for me.

I'm a Sydal fan, even among high flyers of his era he had a very unique and enjoyable style. Just the way he moves around the ring and the way he sells thing was great stuff.

Austin was damn good in WCW and certainly got more chances to have emotionally engaging matches, on top of that he also speaks higher as well. It's somewhat ironic that he only reached his popularity peak after he went downhill but you still had some great moments in-ring like early on in his heel run.

    I went with Austin.

Pre-injury Sydal and post-inury Sydal are different beasts. Pre-injury Sydal was an awesome worker and 100% one of the better 'low-hanging fruits' in this tourney. I'd say he was clearly one of the best high-flyers of all time as far as American wrestlers go. The injury (and I assume age and lack of motivation) really put a damper on his career which is a massive shame considering his talent before then.

I'm still going with Austin, but had to give Sydal his props here.

Really? I thought it was more like getting banned from Japan that’s hurt his career. Because I think he was a pretty great and more mature worker when he went back to ROH. It just took me some getting used to seeing him bulkier and no longer smaller than most of the roster.

I'm referring to the ankle injury which he suffered before getting let go from WWE. Up until that point he was great.
