AEW Dynamite AEW Dynamite On TNT - 26/02/2020

30 Minutes of energy and endurance will be required from Kenny Omega and PAC tonight as they go against each other in an Ironman for 30 minutes. Also The Inner Circle (Ortiz, Sammy Guevara & Santana) will take on all three members of Jurassic Express in a six man tag team match. The Butcher And The Blade will go against the Best Friends in tag team action.

Just a lot more interested in the go-home angles than these matches. Strong temptation to skip the Best Friends tag.

Looking forward to whatever goes on with Moxley/Jericho and Cody/MJF.

Does seem really weird for Omega to be having a blow off match with PAC on the go-home show.

Expecting a big Cody promo this week now his match is official.

The PPV seems really ill timed. I praise them for trying to do two feuds at once, and they haven't done a bad job but it feels messy.

The YouTube content AEW put out really helps get you amped for Dynamite and PPVs. The PAC/Omega promo was fantastic and Tony Schiavone you can just tell is having a blast. If it wasn’t for Orange Cassidy I’d have little interest in Best Friends; Butcher and Blade just don’t interest me at all right now. Jurassic Express/Inner Circle should be a heap of fun. Ironman match should be insane. Looking forward to the final push in all the angles heading into Saturday!

I wouldn't say the PPV is ill timed because I'm really pumped for the show on Saturday for a number of matches, it just feels like Omega/PAC should of either ended last month or just wait until after Revolution to heat up again.

That's what I meant by the PPV being ill-timed. Just feels weird to have this match on this show when the follow up will be Omega/Page vs Yong Bucks and PAC isn't on the PPV (yet). Probably could've done with a weeks gap to fix that.

The PPV isn't ill-timed. PAC vs Omega as a match is. Is PAC even going to be on the PPV? Doesn't look it.

I'm not sure where people on here will stand on the match but I don't get the PAC vs Omega all timer talk, honestly. It was a very good match with some good strategy and big moments. Nothing you won't see in any other PAC match though. The sudden death rules was a little obvious so the drama was weak for the last 5 minutes of the time limit.

PAC vs Orange Cassidy being announced was neat. Just wish there was more to it past this and maybe one interaction that happened months ago. Oh well, at least Orange Cassidy is finally wresting in a singles match.

The trio and tag matches were actually pretty neat. Nothing much to them but they were entertaining and get the flow of the show going well.

Still not digging Page or his gimmick. He's just as bland as always but now he drinks. .

Who are you following on twitter that's calling that an all timer match?

Saying a match isn't an all timer is hardly much of a critique when that's what 99.9% of all wrestling matches are. Whenever I hear someone analyse a match with 'well it was a very good match but it wasn't a MOTYC', it's like why put a negative spin on a good match then, not every match is supposed to be a 5 star classic. This wasn't even designed to be a something at that level because they opened up the show with it and it's Kenny's 2nd biggest match of the week.

I thought the match was great, and thought they used it to play into Saturday's match well with how the Bucks were there to cheer on Kenny but Hangman wasn't. Thought it was Kenny's best match in a long time with how well he sold the exhaustion throughout the match and didn't spam knees. The only things I didn't like about the match was doing the table spot and countout tease because it's flirting with being a hardcore match at that point and then Matt had to save Kenny so is that really a fitting conclusion to this feud. Wasn't mad on doing a 1 minute sudden death either because I loved that last minute battle over the rings of saturn where Omega looked like he had nothing left, and then he's got enough energy in the pause to sudden death to flip the table on PAC entirely. I'd go about 4.25 on it. With how beat up Kenny's been from this match, I think that gives them a good story to head into Revolution to where Hangman is gonna have to do the heavy lifting in the match. I also think it's the best JR has ever called an AEW match, he was much improved in this one.

Will watch the rest of the show later.

This is more of a cagematch ratings thing than anyone on twitter, that I've seen anyway.

It was a good match for what they attempted to do. The 30 minutes were an absolute breeze which is a big plus.

See, I'm absolutely loving Page right now. "Cowboy shit" and drinking beer is fun and all, but I'm absolutely loving the arc of him not wanting to be in The Elite, but being kept in it because of the Omega team, which even that he doesn't really want. The Young Bucks look like entitled dicks throughout it, in a lot of ways. It's turned into really fun story telling truthfully

So based on the "obsolete" line, its probably safe to say Matt Hardy is another red herring and will not be The Exalted One.

They are called the inmates for a reason

I thought the closing segment was strong and a unique way to sell your main event on a wrestling show. Good brawls to end the show on. Helluva knee by Sami to Darby.

Hangman made the sitdown interview with JR interesting, he's the one the tension is all coming off of otherwise it's just hey we're friends and we'll be friends after this. I'm way more interested in the psychology side of Hangman not wanting to be in the Elite, feeling like Bucks are trying to take his biggest achievement away quickly, Matt and Nick feeling like Hangman doesn't appreciate what they've done for his career and Hangman thinking they're taking too much credit, more so than the angle of 'does he have a drinking problem'. The ROH jobber line stings more than acknowledging he was drinking during the interview did. I don't think Saturday will have a turn involved, I still think there's a bit more time to go in this story where Kenny has to choose a side.

As last minute as it is, it's really cool they've saved an Orange Cassidy debut for PPV and I've wanted to see him Vs PAC ever since PAC faced Trent back in 2019 and they had a little interaction.

Really don't understand Swole being the one to be pinned in the womens 4 way based off of last week's interaction with Kris and Kong. I also totally don't understand why they decided to put TV time on those girls and not put any time onto Nyla Vs Kris which is the PPV match. Coldest match at the PPV by far.

I think the Obsolete line is a red herring and they are playing with fans speculating on it. Most reports this week suggest that Matt Hardy is staying in WWE. I think it's gonna end up being Daniels.

Daniels would be kinda disappointing now that they’ve dangled more interesting choices in front of us. Besides, I liked the idea of him joining the Dark Order and using his smarts to manipulate them away from their leader and become his evil faction, rather than this elaborate plan that involves him pretending to be a babyface for a year.

I'd agree with that. My expectations for it are low anyway as it's not my type of storyline, but if it does end up being Daniels it is going to look stupid that he pretended to be a babyface all this time. I only think it's Daniels out of the failure to land Hardy and what option on their current roster suits the role.

Re: AEW Dynamite On TNT - 26/02/2020

Solid episode, worked just fine as a go-home episode.

    - The Ironman was pretty much what I expected except for the Bucks getting involved and PAC’s SSP through the table which looked fucking awesome and he looked fucking scared doing it. The Falcon Arrow to the floor was also a nutty spot, but didn’t get as big of a pop as it should’ve. PAC should’ve shown more urgency after using the chair. He equalised to get to 1-1 but the point of DQ’ing yourself is to cheat for the advantage and he only ended up in the same position as with them tying. I also wasn’t into them going for sudden death in the company’s first ever Ironman. So now we know it’s gonna happen in all the Ironman time limit draws so it’ll be predictable next time.

    - PAC and OC have interacted a couple times before but it doesn’t make this buildup any less random. Clunky setup to the PPV match but I’m still really hyped to see it. Chuck Taylor’s promo sucked but he made up for it with “He’s gonna try!” which was a great line.

    - JR’s sitdown interviews are a great recurring segment. Santana hit a home run in his; and Page, Omega and the Bucks really sold this storyline. Everyone but Kenny is a dick. Page is sympathetic at least because he’s been so much fun to watch since the drinking gimmick began and you can see where he’s coming from at times. The Bucks went full heel with the ROH jobber line. First, it’s not true - Page already ascended the ranks and broke out from being The Decade’s young boy. Second, they lost their cool and just came off as bitter and jealous of their supposed friends. AEW have done a good job playing with shades of grey here but they absolutely cannot make Page the heel in this situation.

    - Six-man was quite fun, some great double/triple team moves. Darby costing Sammy was good and I like Jungle Express finally getting one over the Inner Circle.

    - Some people seemed confused like the Inner Circle have two names now, but I thought it was obvious that Painmaker Posse is just a nickname. Couldn’t tell whether the tracksuits and conga line entrance were meant to be the Jericho character mocking the scenario or taking it too seriously. Only real flaw is I don’t get why you need a weigh-in for a title that really has no weight limit and why we should give a shit what Moxley weighs.

Re: AEW Dynamite On TNT - 26/02/2020

This was a great show, the last month of Dynamite has been superb and they're truly hitting their stride.

I thought the iron man was a truly great match. Felt like a proper struggle with clear strategies and personality from both. I loved how much they used the fact that falls are common in iron man matches, so all the near falls felt exciting. I'm a sucker for ironman matches - I know they're not for everyone - but I thought this was terrific and probably my MOTY so far. Omega is having a great year so far from what I've seen, and PAC is PAC. I also thought the booking of the match was very strong as PAC has a legitimate gripe about the result, but it puts over Omega too.

The sit down interview between Page, Omega and the Bucks was superb.

    Orange Cassidy is a treat.

Bringing in Gary Michael Cappetta for an appearance was a nice treat too.

Overall this is such an easy and enjoyable wrestling show to watch. Everything has been built logically, every minute feels important to the story they're trying to tell, and all the matches are enjoyable.
