They got rid of the Nightmare Collective garbage and they're really getting things together these last few shows. This honestly might've been one of the best shows since their debut show.

Hager is more of a bodyguard - there to protect Jericho. A hired gun would be a mercenary with no affiliation coming in to be on the offensive for Jericho, but after all is said in done he was hired by Jericho and would not be a member of the Inner Circle, at least that's my take on it.

I’ll echo this was one of their better episodes.

    - Hangman is a great hot tag guy and Cowboy Shit continues to get over. The Daniels/Dark Order business, I think they still haven’t decided who the Exalted One is and are just teasing Daniels in case they don’t manage to sign Matt Hardy. Someone joked that it’s Jim Cornette, which would probably be one of the greatest online works ever.

    - In two episodes, they’ve managed to get me VERY interested in Santana. Excellent sitdown interview with JR, borderline turned him babyface until you remember the hypocrisy of him allowing Jericho to blind Moxley, among all the other bad shit The Inner Circle have done. Fun’s over once it affects him directly. Good character work.

    - Darby showing charisma without even appearing on camera by ripping off Sammy’s cue card gimmick on bits of cardboard, plus the “Kissing Jericho’s ass gave me herpes” They should have a great match at Revolution.

    - Dustin/Guevara delivered and Dustin was so over. Good promo calling out Hager.

    - I didn’t understand Britt Baker’s cheap heat line that made the crowd go nuts, but that felt like the level of when Elias blew up that crowd over a nothing line too. Insane heat.

    - Sang the praises of MJF/Jungle Boy earlier. Really fun, well done match.

    - Will need to rewatch Moxley/Santana tbf because I got sucked into how good this show was while watching live that by 3am or whenever, I started nodding off and snapped awake at Jeff Cobb’s debut. All I know about Cobb is from Moves That Make Me Go Holy Shit videos and he seems impressive but I also have seen him deliberately no-sell a Piledriver in some PWG match, so I’m also a little cynical about him.

Re: AEW Dynamite On TNT - 12/02/2020

I don't get the logic behind what they've done with Jeff Cobb. Why did they announce he's coming in next week to face Mox (a story no insider had the scope on) and have the initial pop backstage in a Jericho promo, then cut immediately to a fancy video package for him and then he's coming out to the ring when it's already a 5 on 1 beatdown to beat up Moxley a little more. It's like they had three ideas for how to reveal Cobb was with the company and they decided to do all three rather than pick one and get the maximum out of that. And as others have pointed out, Inner Circle already have the muscle guy in their stable, this throws the balance a little off. I could understand it if Hager ain't gonna wrestle, but this all happened on the exact episode Hager agreed to his first AEW match on.

I understand why Fenix and Pentagon have a tag title shot, but why not just do that match at Revolution. Why are we having a tag battle royal next week for every other team to get a PPV opportunity at the tag champs when the team that just pinned one of the champions is being rushed into a TV match which now feels less important because there's zero chance of a title change. I agree with Mark, obviously Bucks are winning that next week.

Those two grips aside, I thought the show was really good and AEW are making some calls I can get behind.

    - No nightmare collective, fantastic.

    - Britt Baker's heel promo was much improved from the cruise ship WTF promo. Execution was more on the money this time and that's the best use of cutting to a crowd reaction you're gonna see in modern wrestling (blind squirrels and acorns) when she did the whataburger diss. If I had watched live, the promo would of convinced me that Riho was winning because Britt/Riho works a lot better than Britt/Nyla does.

    - A lot of the moaning on twitter about the womens match seems to be directed at Nyla and the talking point of a trans woman winning the womens title, and I've got the opposite reaction to it, Nyla wasn't a problem with this match. I'm over the moon the title is off Riho. I'm sure she's really talented and her stuff comes off better in Japan, but she's been a poor champion, the language barrier has been a problem, none of her angles have had any juice and these matches with Nyla have been ridiculous where this little girl with the powderpuff offence is taking this beast to the limit and previously got the better of her. I'm all for suspending disbelief in wrestling, but this is really pushing it too far that Riho can dragon suplex Nyla multiple times and is kicking out of avalanche top rope moves. Riho's attacks never look like they hurt and that's my big problem with a lot of her matches. On a show with aliens, dinosaurs and cults every 15 minutes, the lolRihowins stuff felt like the most fake thing on the show. Nyla's nowhere near the finished article, but her as champion is a move forward from the Riho stuff that wasn't grabbing anyone's attention, she's got presence and she can talk. I'm much more into Kris Vs Nyla than I would be Kris Vs Riho for example.

    - I enjoyed that the subtly hammer wasn't used in the Hangman/Omega tag stuff. They won and were on the same page with no tease of a breakup.

    - I really enjoyed the main event and the unique story of two eye injuries in one match. Part of me thinks they're dragging the Mox eye patch stuff out a bit now, but when you get a pay off with a clever match like this, it justifies it as a fun little program to get us through a month of TV. Great promo from Santana with JR too. It kind of babyface'd him which I'm not sure is the route I would of gone down, but encouraging to know he's got that in his locker.

    - Dustin was note perfect in his challenge to Hager, I'm down with that match for Revolution. Likewise, how great was Darby's video where he parodied the Sammy G card style promo.

    - PAC is great. Disappointing that he probably won't have a Revolution match, but I'm looking forward to that Ironman with Omega.

I’m actually not into PAC/Omega at all and it’s mainly because this angle makes no goddamn sense to me. I’m definitely not the only one who has no clue what PAC was doing to Michael Nakazawa and why Omega barely acknowledged this. I also don’t get why it took Omega much convincing to have another match to begin with.

Yeah, the Nakazawa stuff was definitely at a time when AEW was doing a lot of expecting their audience to be watching BTE and know who these people were. I had no idea why Nakazawa mattered to Omega, or who QT Marshall was in reference to Cody. I do think AEW has improved leaps and bounds since then with that story telling.

Omega/PAC has definitely gone by the wayside because of the Hangman/Omega stuff which is a shame because PAC has done great individually with everything he's been given.
