    Sami Zayn

The real shame of this thing for Zayn is that 2014 isn't included, so that will unfortunately mean no Neville bangers going toward his case.

But... given we have threads for guys like Owens and Cesaro, surely we need to ponder Zayn's credentials for this right? More often than not, he's been an afterthought and he's recently become full fledged squash fodder but when he was given the chance he was putting on some killer matches.

    vs. Kevin Owens
    • TakeOver: Rival
    • TakeOver: Unstoppable
    • Payback 2016
    • Battleground 2016

vs. Shinsuke Nakamura - TakeOver: Dallas

vs. AJ Styles - Raw April 11, 2016

vs. Miz, Cesaro and Owens - Extreme Rules 2016

vs. Chris Jericho - Clash of Champions 2016

w/ Owens vs. Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura - Clash of Champions 2017

w/ Owens vs. AJ Styles - Royal Rumble 2018

vs. AJ Styles, John Cena, Baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler and Kevin Owens - Fastlane 2018

w/ Owens vs. The New Day - Stomping Grounds 2019

That's a healthy dose of standout matches that would all be 3.5 stars at least, and damn near 5 stars in some cases. And that's not to mention the fact that he's simply a consistently great wrestler who makes pretty much anyone he works with look like a million bucks.

I'm working on my list at the moment. I'm not certain that I will put him on there, but there's a slim chance he makes it at the tail end so I wanted to make sure we had a thread up for him.

I love him but he hasn’t had a great year since 2014, there were flashes of what he could still do in 2015-16 but the last three years have offered nothing frankly to his case. Shibata And Bryan are gonna make my lists despite big injury problems but that’s because when they could wrestle they looked like the best in their companies, not they had 3 bad years.

I’ll have to rewatch that Styles match as I don’t remember it

Worth also calling out that he did a lot to establish Braun as a monster singles guy

    It's top tier TV stuff.

And, yeah, that's a big thing for Zayn. Even at his worst, when he's jobbing and being a coward, he does it better than most can. Does that factor in to how good of a worker he is? I would say yes, though I'm sure it's debatable for some. Despite not having many true standout matches since 2016, this is a guy that is one of the most consistent in the world. When I see Zayn is about to wrestle, I don't have to be concerned about what I'm about to get. As long as they let him actually wrestle, he's going to do a great job. And I think that does count for a good bit. That, in addition to the great matches he had in 2015 and 2016, give him a solid case.
