WC's Fave Five Steven Spielberg Movies~!

That's right folks, we're getting right back into the Fave Five's, and after the rousing success of the Tom Hanks list I figured we should look at another individual who should prove to be very popular around here. Whether it's Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Schindler's List or Saving Private Ryan, you'd be hard pressed to find people who haven't seen at least five great films by Steven Spielberg. So, with that in mind, let's put our collectively awesome heads together and decide our own Fave Five Steven Spielberg Movies~!

Most of you know how this goes but if you've never done it before, it's pretty simple. All you've got to do to participate is PM me a list of your five favourite Steven Spielberg movies (with 1 being your top choice) by no later than Sunday, November 23rd at 9AM EST. I'll tally up the votes immediately after and we'll begin our countdown. Here's a nice big list of Steven Spielberg movies for your viewing pleasure...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven...mography#Films

Please note that this is only for films DIRECTED by Spielberg, so please don't vote for The Goonies even though it's awesome! Alright, that's it for me, get cracking on those lists and have teh funz~!

Re: WC's Fave Five Steven Spielberg Movies~!

I entered the thread thinking this was going to be really difficult but actually it was ok. Spielberg has done lots of good films, but I think there's 5 that stand out to me as his absolute best.

Working out which order to put Jurassic Park and Jaws was very challenging. I think Jurassic Park is about as impressive visually as any movie ever, but I think Jaws is a better film with more suspense.

Ready Player One was a good movie, it didn't make my list, because he has too many other ones that are better, but I enjoyed it. Not as good as the book, but not horrible.

That was a lot harder than I thought it'd be. Really wanted to give love to things like Minority Report, Color Purple, even Catch Me If You Can, but his top 6 are so hard to vote against. Plus I'm sure I'm not alone that Spielberg kinda soundtracked my childhood in some ways, so nostalgia is a powerful thing.

I get this, but we’ll stick with the provided list, so Poltergeist doesn’t count.

Re: WC's Fave Five Steven Spielberg Movies~!

Alright folks, all the lists are in and counted, so let's kick things off with all the movies that finished outside of the top ten...

13T. Bridge of Spies - 10 Points (Wolf Beast #5)

    13T. War Horse - 10 Points (Postman Dave #5)

12T. The Color Purple - 30 Points (Pawsitivity Bear #3)

12T. The Lost World: Jurassic Park - 30 Points (TWG #3)

    12T. Munich - 30 Points (Booty Love #3)

    12T. The Terminal - 30 Points (RED #3)

    11. War of the Worlds - 50 Points (OMB #3, RED #5, Thundercat #5)

There's definitely some interesting choices up there to start us off. I've never seen War Horse, though I've seen the play it's based on and that was really good. I've never really cared for The Color Purple, even if I feel it's a good film, while I've covered my thoughts on both Bridge of Spies and The Terminal during the Tom Hanks list. The Jurassic Park sequel is excellent and a hell of a good time. It's well known that I don't like Munich, but again, that's not because it's bad so much as that I just prefer Sword of Gideon. On the flip side, I didn't like War of the Worlds at all, finding it to be fairly tawdry, with absolutely no characters to care about. I'll take the old radio version if I ever want to sit through it again.

Next up, the top ten begins with some of Spielberg's oldest work, and some of his newest~!

Very good start to this list. I liked the Color Purple and considered it but ultimately left it off my list.
