    Classic 70's Wrestling Remembered

In this thread, I'll be posting pro wrestling interviews, matches and angles from the '70s.

Posting comments about '70s wrestling and posting wrestling vids from the '70s is always welcome. Know some good stuff from then...post it here!

We're gonna kick things off with a stipulation match the WWE apparently resurrected a couple of years ago.

Break out the lava lamp and the bean bag chair!

    From 1977...

    From Detroit Big-Time Wrestling

Shark Cage Match: 'Bulldog' Don Kent vs. Chief Jay Strongbow

    https://youtu.be/RVaTRP0-ud0

(NOTE: Match goes full-screen after the first 10 seconds.)

If I may add a few, here's two Bobo Brazil matches:

Bobo Brazil vs. Crusher Blackwell (WWWF United States Heavyweight Championship Match) - WWWF in Madison Square Garden: March 1, 1976

Bobo Brazil vs. Stan Stasiak - WWF in Madison Square Garden: January 17, 1977

A few to throw up in here:

Nick Bockwinkel vs Verne Gagne, AWA 2/10/79

A big title match between the biggest rivals in AWA's history

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LSOJ0iYJjk

Harley Race vs Jerry Lawler, CWA 11/12/77

Race defends the NWA title in Memphis against Jerry FNing Lawler. A real classic despite the telegraphed result and my favourite Harley Race match.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8q19i9BtH8

Bill Dundee vs Tony Charles, CWA '77

Dundee made his name as a brawler, but here he goes to the mat. Both a very good match and a hidden gem.

    Re: Classic 70's Wrestling Remembered

From 1977 Detroit Big Time Wrestling.

It's The Sheik vs. Mark Lewin in a Loser Leaves Town Match with the U.S. Title on the line.

I didn't care for this match the first few times I saw it, but it grew on me and I came to really like it.

This match has great ring psychology and off-the-charts crowd heat...two things you won't find in today's WWE!

Mark Lewin does something you'll never see one of those 'WWE Superstars' do in a million years! Don't want them anywhere near us riff-raff!

    https://youtu.be/1eWi7OxyURw

    This match is really h-o-t!

THIS MATCH IS CERTIFIED GROOVY, MAN!

Not as good as their Broadway from the month prior but a hell of a follow up.

My Thanksgiving contribution to this thread.

From 1973, it's Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens vs. Billy Robinson & Red Bastien from the AWA:

    Re: Classic 70's Wrestling Remembered

One of the fun things about the 70's I liked was the behind the scenes stories. One such story I read once was that the Blackjacks were enforcers of sorts for some of the promoters they worked for. If someone pissed off the promoter they got put into a match with the Blackjacks and the Blackjacks would rough them up a bit.
