Quite a few of those I haven’t seen that I’ll have to try and check out. Especially Dragnet. Da Vinci code isn’t really my bag, so I doubt I’ll ever bother with it and I’ve yet to get around to The Post.

That #5 pick of mine still going strong. Thought for sure it would’ve popped up by now. Some great taste around here!

Bridge of Spies was my last cut, so I kind of regret not putting it in now too!

Re: WC's Fave Five Tom Hanks Movies~!

Got some catching up to do:

Glad others think Bridge Of Spies is ace, but Mitch is right in hindsight, that's Rylance's movie more than Hanks.

Cloud Atlas got a nomination due to the variety of roles played by Hanks. Definitely one of his more unique roles that goes under the radar.

I've seen one Dan Brown adaption, didn't really sell me on the others. Remember enjoying Apollo 13 a lot as a kid, but I rewatched it recently and was a bit bored at points if I'm honest.

Re: WC's Fave Five Tom Hanks Movies~!

I'll be heading out shortly to pre-drink before the Tool concert tonight, so here's the rest of the movies that finished outside of the top ten...

    14. Bachelor Party - 60 Points (Wang Chung #1, Mister Miracle #5)

    13. Splash - 70 Points (Fuji Vice #2, Wang Chung #3)

    12. Road to Perdition - 90 Points (Wolf Beast #1, Mister Miracle #2)

    11T. Captain Phillips - 110 Points (Postman Dave #2, Wolf Beast #2, Shade #4, indyfan #5)

    11T. Turner & Hooch - 110 Points (Jimmy King #3, indyfan #4, Pawsitivity Bear #4, Slick Mitch #4, Wang Chung #4)

BIG TIME FUJI PROPS are in order for the Wanger, as he was the only other person to nominate Splash. I watched it earlier this year and it held up great, while still providing me with all the laughs that I've gotten from it for years. Bachelor Party was a late cut from my list so I'm glad Wang and Mister Miracle saw fit to include it on theirs. Road to Perdition and Captain Phillips are both rock solid, while Turner & Hooch is another that I considered strongly. I'm glad to see so many people here shower it with the praise it deserves.

    Tomorrow...the top ten begins~!

I actually forgot about The Money Pit! It would've made my honorable mentions for sure.

I love the Money Pit. There are so many funny moments in it. Splash is okay, I haven't seen it in years. Bachelor Party is still so much fun, very wrong in a lot of ways, but still fun.

    Some great mentions.

I never saw Da Vinci Code, though. Also not Captain Philips.

I love Turner and Hooch so much, it’s so dang funny. The chemistry he has with that dog is something else. I enjoyed Captain Phillips but it wouldn’t have made my list.

I haven’t seen Bachelor Party, Splash, and Road to Perdition.

My fun with Bachelor party came out when I was a little Wagner of about 8 or 9 have loved it since Hanks was so good in that movie it's on the level of Porky's, Aninal House, and any other of those type if 80's films.

Turner and Hooch was just pure fun and I have been considering getting a mastiff thanks to that film.

    Our top ten begins...

    10. Catch Me If You Can - 120 Points (Professor Booty #3, OMB #4, Postman Dave #4, Sully #4, Thundercat #4, Shock #5)

    9. Philadelphia - 130 Points (Shock #1, Slick Mitch #1, Wolf Beast #3)

Two fantastic Hanks performances kick us off in fine style. I obviously feel that his work in Philadelphia far outweighs the other movie he won an Oscar for, but aside from that, it's just a superb film that still wields a lot of power today. I was lukewarm on Catch Me the first time I saw it, but a subsequent re-watch revealed it to be a glorious bit of old school filmmaking, carried by both Hanks and Leo. I'm very stoked to see both of these flicks take solid spots on our countdown.

Next up, three more before the Fave Five begins~!

Re: WC's Fave Five Tom Hanks Movies~!

Philadelphia is the best film he's been in. It's not the best Tom Hanks performance (that's still to come) but it's easily second best and a better film overall. Very powerful film.

Catch Me If You Can gets better with every watch. You summed it up perfectly, Fuji. Just a fun watch from start to finish.

I have not seen either one of these movies. Philadelphia is on Netflix and I’ve been meaning to watch it but I haven’t got around to it just yet, I’ll have to check out Catch Me eventually as well.

Re: WC's Fave Five Tom Hanks Movies~!

Here we go folks, final batch before the Fave Five begins...

    8. A League of Their Own - 140 Points (Jimmy King #2, Sully #2, indyfan #3, Mister Miracle #4, Wolf Beast #5)

    7. Toy Story - 150 Points (Pawsitivity Bear #1, Shade #1, Sakura #3, Jimmy King #5, Sully #5)

    6. Big - 160 Points (indyfan #2, Slick Mitch #2, Wang Chung #2, Professor Booty #4, Wolf Beast #4)

Toy Story ends up as the highest ranked Hanks vocal performance, and I feel like it's a fairly fitting placement. While I appreciate his work in the movie, it's near impossible for me to even consider it a Hanks movie when it's a total ensemble performance. That being said, if you think of Toy Story, or Pixar itself, Hanks name will be one of the first that comes up, so it does make sense to include it in a list of his best works. A League of Their Own and Big were both on my short list and I'm very happy to see them place highly.

Later today, the Fave Five begins~!

A League of Their Own may not be Tom Hanks best movie, but there’s no denying that “there’s no crying in baseball” will forever be one of his most well known lines.

Re: WC's Fave Five Tom Hanks Movies~!

Big was a late cut from my list, it’s a great movie but just barely missed out on my list at the last minute. Toy Story will forever be my favorite Disney/Pixar movie and Tom Hanks is a part of that for me, when every kid I knew was all about Buzz Lightyear, Woody was my guy.

A League of Their Own is great with an excellent performance from Tom Hanks, definitely up there as one of my favorite roles of his. “There’s no crying in baseball!” is a great line but I also liked the line that followed it a little later when he insults the umpire, “Has anyone ever told you that you look like a penis with a little hat on?”

I'm not a huge fan of A League of Their Own as a movie, but I love Hanks' role and I love the relationship Jimmy has with Dottie.

Re: WC's Fave Five Tom Hanks Movies~!

Okay folks, here we go, it's Fave Five time...

    5. Saving Private Ryan - 170 Points (Mister Miracle #1, OMB #1, Sakura #2, Shock #4, Wang Chung #5)

    4. Forrest Gump - 190 Points (Jimmy King #1, Postman Dave #1, Sully #1, OMB #3, Pawsitivity Bear #5)

We all know my thoughts on Forrest Gump so I won't rehash them here, though I will say that I'm pleasantly surprised that it didn't take the top spot. Just as an FYI, the final three movies all finished within 10 points of each other, so one more first or second place vote for Gump could have pushed it to the top. I'll blame Ed. Saving Private Ryan is a really good film and certainly deserving of a high placement on this list.

Next up, we'll close it out with our top three~!

Re: WC's Fave Five Tom Hanks Movies~!

I originally liked Gump when it came out but ever since then I get bored of it. I do feel as though Hanks did a great job with everything in the film but Gary Sinese was better. Funny story. When in college my roommate and his brother went to go watch it. When done his brother kept asking us what was the movie about and our thoughts. My roommate said the whole movie was about the feather floating for all of those years and how that was spectacular a feather could stay in the air through all of those years.

Saving private Ryan was so great and it was just a great movie. Its one I could watch over and over.
