Katie Forbes. It was odd because they were essentially saying they were back to normal and distancing themselves from Ryan and #CancelCulture bit RVD felt like his old-school, high as a kite self but then they were heel before that anyway? So I don’t know if it was supposed to be a turn but it went nowhere besides Katie talking about showing her pictures.

    I see.

I don’t necessarily care if he is a heel. He was heel originally in the 90s. I just wish they would present him as a star, because the RVD brand still has value as long as he isn’t presented as an over the hill nobody.

I would have him in a Lesnar-esque roll in that he doesn’t need to be on the show every week he can wrestle four matches a year with “dream opponents” like Ace Austin and Willie Mack.

I would have to say, I just don't find that super realistic, because RVD just straight up does not have that same aura, even relative to Impact. He is a certifiable legend and his name does carry weight with the casual crowd, but at the same time, he hasn't really been bringing it for a while. So, for someone who has been watching Impact like myself, even if RVD was only competing a handful of times per year, there isn't a match with anyone on the roster that I'd be particularly excited for, just because it's RVD in the match. I mean I would want to see him face Ace Austin, Sami Callihan, Eddie Edwards, etc. but more so because those guys are great and RVD is solid enough to have a good match with them still. But the idea of an "RVD dream match" at this point just doesn't sound legitimate.

Re: Impact Wrestling on AXS TV Discussion

On RVD, I thought they had something at the start of the year with him because he was doing actual character work for the first time in his career and thought he was good fun for undercard programs. But then they messed him around with Joey Ryan and his character didn't make sense anymore. I'm not sure who he really fits in with anymore on this show given the influx of new names but it seems like they're going to find something for him.

I watched the main event, really good stuff between The North and MCMG. I'd love to see a rematch with a bit more fire involved.

I've no time for Brian fucking Myers getting involved with Impact now, they really have taken on too many WWE jobbers, but that might be a good long term pick up so that Impact has links to his wresting school the same way AEW has the links to QT Marshall's school.

Surprised to see Eric Young be slotted in as Edward's first program as champion when I would of thought Rich Swann would of been Young's first feud, or even Willie Mack on Rich's behalf given Mack is probably done with the X-Division now.

With Heath and Myers we've had too long with them not doing a lot in WWE, so I think we need to give them a bit of time to see how the can be away from that deal, so i'll reserve judgement until that has happened.

Also could we realistically see EY dethrone Edwards straight away as we then get the EY/Swann feud over the title instead? May be a long shot but trying to think of other top heels that are ready at the moment and it's quite light :/

I think they'd of given Young the title if their plan was to do EY/Swann over the title.

I'm sure Eddie/EY is just a stop gap between PPV's, then once Swann returns that feud recommences and Eddie moves onto someone else.

But who? And more importantly, what’s the plan for BFG only 3 months away?

    It should be something big.

Swann vs. EY and Austin vs. Edwards (for the last time in a while) is the way I would go.

I'm already enjoying the additions of EC3 and EY. They add a real buzz and sense of importance to the uppercard/Main Event in TNA which it was lacking with a few big departures recently.

Be interesting to see how Slater goes, he made all the dumb shit he was given in the WWE work, how will he fare when he can be more serious and legitimate?

Is Ace Austin ready you think? He is still kind of boyish. I would want to give him a year of coming up over a bunch of top singles. But then do we really want Eddie to be champ after BFG?

Edit - either way whoever is the champion a couple month out from BFG I would like to see them drop it to Rich Swann in a three way with Willie Mack with Rich turning in his boy. They should build towards Mack going for the gold next BFG. Even if by that time it’s Mack/Ace.

It's certainly up for debate. I don't see what Impact has to lose with it though. Ace is clearly (to me) their brightest young prospect right now. And he has defeated Eddie numerous times, he's beat Trey, he's beat Rhino, he's beat Dreamer, he's beat practically anyone he's faced at some point or another. It's still 3 months until BFG, so that's a good amount of time to further solidify him. Personally, I would have been all for him winning the belt at Slammiversary, but now you have the chance to cap off arguably the second biggest rivalry in Impact over the past year, and crown Ace at the biggest show of the year. Yeah, I'd pull the trigger.

Re: Impact Wrestling on AXS TV Discussion

    Review of Show

Eddie Edwards vs. Trey Miquel - Decent match, good opener. Gives the episode a big feel right off the bat. Nothing great. EY comes out after but then changes his mind. Not much for progression, would have liked to have heard from EY.

Wrestlehouse - I liked this overall. Definitely exceeded my low expectations. HOWEVER, I felt it went a little too long and if they continue to include matches then please increase the production on them. Because if I was a new fan and turned that on for the first time, I would turn it off.

EDIT - And then there was more of it. I'm split because I actually really liked the Deaner match, this was entirely too much time to spend on Wrestlehouse. I definitely wouldn't be tuning in every week if they continued to spend this much time on it.

X Division - Looks like we are getting Chris Bey vs. TJP as the first feud with Rohit and Fallah thrown in there. I think this is a good first program because it gets Fallahh Bahh, TJP and Rohit some deserved TV time, but at the same time Chris Bey should be able to overcome this first challenger, lengthening his reign.

Tag Titles - Nice sensible package with the MCMG hype video plus the classic match. I loved the Alexander promo. Man, he's great on the mic he should have a great future.

Moose/EC3/Heath - EC3 does a promo where he's basically wanting to make good on his past by controlling his narrative. Sounds good to me. Moose does a promo opening a challenge. Ol Heath Miller shows up and accepts. I would honestly love to have Heath beat Moose next week with another EC3 screwjob. I would be great because it isn't the real World Title and such a TNA thing to do. Plus, I wonder what EC3's gripe is with Moose here, with both of their connections to TNA. I mean hey, Aunt Dixie still owns 5% over Impact. I wonder how this is all gonna make sense.

Women's Stuff - Deonna beat someone I forgot in a kind of squash. Jordynne Grace came out and revealed her arm to be healed and laid the smack down on Deonna. I'm okay with a rematch.

RVD, Sami Callihan & Ken Shamrock - Looks like the wrote Sami Callihan off for now. Weird after they sort of teased something last week. Why not write him off last week? Oh well, Sami starts a feud with RVD. I'm okay with this. RVD and Sami have clashing styles in a regular match witch makes for good. They also obviously both have the hardcore wrestling thing in common. I trust the matches to be good enough and hopefully it exposes Sami to more people.

The Treehouse -This is one of my favorite vignettes that Impact does. It was fun seeing Suicide in there. I'm guessing that as usual it should lead to some matches with Wentz and Dez, which is good.

Reno Scum vs. The Good Brothers - Ace Austin did a promo earlier. I couldn't hear as my baby was crying. Kind of a standard match to start. Ace comes out and allows the heels to take advantage. GB make the come back. Pretty classically laid out match but the Good Brother's looked good. Ace & Fulton jump them afterwards. Brawl to the parking lot. Good ending. Hopefully all this somehow puts over Ace in the end.

    Overall
I thought this show was a let down compared to last week. Not a whole lot of progression in story line or future Title Matches. Also, this WrestleHouse took up WAY too much time. Surely there's a better way to incorporate some of these talents into the show without it being goofy and out there. Not terrible though. It almost just needed a little something exra to put an exclamation on the show.

Next week we get a sit down interview with MCMG which I expect to be awesome, Rohit & Chris Bey vs. TJP & Fallahh Bahh which should be good and Eddie defends his Title. So it doesn't look bad, but again they really need to continue the momentum by doing stuff that people are talking about and not tread water (or the mileage they do cover is a niche product like WrestleHouse).

Sami vs. RVD is definitely one of the most intriguing matches out there for RVD right now. If they go Full Metal Mayhem at Bound For Glory, I'd be very interested in that.

This Wrestle House thing feels like something they should be doing on youtube or Xplosion. It's weird to dedicate that much time to something wacky and out of place with the rest of the show.

Less people in the building scenario may be? With you on it on though, but given the pandemic it may just be their way of getting around certain things.

Guys the Wrestle House stuff is somewhat entertaining, but it is definitely niche, and I am telling you it is not going to help them expand to the rest of the audience they want to expand to. Definitely not with close to a half an hour of it on Impact. They need to make this either 10 minutes tops or give it it's own thing somewhere.
