    BUSHIROAD Acquires STARDOM

NJPW's parent company has purchased full control of the top Joshi promotion abroad.

Yahoo! Japan reported the company became interested in getting into the women’s wrestling game last fall and Takaaki Kidani, Bushiroad founder and chairman of NJPW, took interest in Stardom. He and Stardom owner and co-founder Rossy Ogawa first met in April. The sales agreement was completed in August.

Kidani has reportedly said that he thinks they can increase Stardom’s current annual gross of about 200 million yen per year to one billion within five years.

Meij at those Stardom shows earlier this year wasn't just a coincidence. They're allegedly going to keep the two brands separate and doing their own thing. It seems like they have some huge plans for it. Maybe Meij getting a promotion rather than being run out as was speculated? No word on whether Stardom World will remain or if it'll be integrated into NJPW World.

The main thing I think comes from it is Stardom getting more cash and an upgrade in production values. We already saw it with them being involved Fire Pro, and the new video wall they debuted at the 5 Star Grand Prix Final Show. I expect more to come, perhaps big shows live on NJPW. Since their promotional strategies are so similar I doubt there are many changes to the products in terms of booking or anything tbh.

Here's a lost of points from Stardom's official Twitter which clarifies some things and makes further announcements.

1: As reported today on the front cover of Tokyo Sports newspaper, Stardom is now a part of Bushiroad.

Stardom is no longer a corporation and becomes part of the Bushiroad group “Kix Road”. Kickboxing promotion “Knock Out” is also a part of Kix Road.

2: On December 1, 2019, the company name will be changed from Kix Road Co., Ltd. to Bushiroad Fight Co., Ltd.

Rossy Ogawa (Hiroshi Ogawa) will remain the Chief Executive Officer of Stardom. The name of the wrestling promotion remains Stardom.

3: BS Nippon Television broadcasting, advertising and global development will begin shortly thereafter.

The first big show will be held on April 29, 2020 at Tokyo’s Ota Ward Gym.

In 2021 there will be a big 10th anniversary show.

4: in 2020 Stardom will run Korakuen Hall 14 times. August 8 & 9, 2020 Stardom will run Korakuen Hall on consecutive days. Details will come later.

5: December 7th and 8th, 2019 Stardom will take part in "CharaExpo USA 2019" held at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim ,CA. Stardom will put on the following tag team match: Mayu Iwatani & Tam Nakano vs. Sumie Sakai & Nicole Savoy.

6: A TV program will air on BS NTV and TOKYO MX beginning in January 2020. On BS NTV (every Thursday 24: 30 ~) and TOKYO MX (this one is a 30 minute program).

Stardom World will remain as it is.

7: Bushiroad in regards to contracts: “We will create contracts with each wrestler. We want to create an environment where the wrestlers can concentrate on pro wrestling, and we are expecting to bring in excellent wrestlers from all over the world.

8:”We would like to listen to the thoughts of each wrestler and take those thoughts into account when creating this new work environment.”

9: Advertising / Global marketing Strategy by Bushiroad will begin starting in January 2020 to include more "Weekly Pro-Wrestling" coverage, traffic advertisements, TV spots, etc., in addition to guest appearances at events hosted by Bushi Road.

Great! Hopefully this leads to more money being pumped into the promotion as well as better contracts. Bushiroad buying Stardom and keeping it by itself, similar to Tokyo Joshi Pro, is much better than intergteating it into New Japan fully in regards to traditions and how things are run.

I already see Knock Out are doing a collab interview with Stardom. Eisaku Ogasawara and Panchan with Mayu and Tam. Wonder if some Joshi with martial arts root may crossover.

This is good for Stardom and really bad for the Joshi scene outside of it.

Gee I wonder why giulia was in such a rush to join stardom.

good news for stardom only fans to have stable backers behind them to take a step forward in their business.

That's more sense now. As does some of the results of the last shows regarding title matches.

WWE attempted to buy Stardom as well with their big coup in mind being to offer to induct Rossy into the HOF if he sold to them.

They should of told him they'd use the women's roster as arm candy to walk out with like in the old days of HOF. That might of closed the deal.

    Re: BUSHIROAD Acquires STARDOM

Mentioned this in another thread, but not here.

Podcast was talking about this deal and mentioned the WWE making an offer for Stardom and their pursuit of BJW. Don't know if this is true, but apparently when the WWE made their offer for Stardom - with the Rossy HOF sweetner - they had no other plans. Stardom (Rossy, I presume) asked a bunch of questions about their specific plans, like what the schedule would be, whether they were opening a performance center and where... and the WWE had nothing. Nothing specific planned.

A nice benefit to the Bushiroad buy out. I hope it's used as a showcase match and not something to give the crowd a rest. Intrigued on who will be the wrestlers on the show. I can see it being a tag match but I'm holding out for a singles match.

    Re: BUSHIROAD Acquires STARDOM

Makes sense, and they'll have space on the card to do this with a two day event. While a singles title match would be preferable, a tag match should still be a great addition to the card.
