    AEW: 957,000
    NXT: 750,000

Big bounce back for AEW following Full Gear. NXT was hot on their heels last week but they've gained a nice cushion back.

Well this is very interesting! NXT won the ratings war this week for the first time since this thing started.

    AEW: 893,000
    NXT: 916,000

That's a 22% increase by NXT over last week so obviously all the cross promotion with Raw and Smackdown and presumably the fact that this week was a go-home show for them really paid off. That's great for them, though I'm slightly concerned that this win is going to influence Vince & Co. to use Raw and Smackdown stars on NXT more and more if/when AEW goes back to beating them on a weekly basis. And for what it's worth, barring some kind of huge cliffhanger at War Games or Survivor Series, I would expect AEW to go back to beating them next week since Cody is advertised to wrestle and Jericho has his title defense against Scorpio Sky.

Considering what WWE had to do to get that rating...I'd still consider this a win for AEW. Proves the WWE is scared enough to bring out the big guns. Like you said, I hope this doesn't mean we see them every week.

Problem with that win is that it wasn't by much and needed main roster talent to do so. That's good for a spike, but it isn't sustainable.

Re: The Wednesday Night War Thread

I think there’s some overreaction about this ‘but they needed main roster stars’ explanation for the rating. Yes they had Becky lynch wrestling on the show, but she was unnannounced and her part of the show was over by 8:15pm, and most of the guys were just there to attack an nxt guy after the match. You don’t get the benefit of experiencing that live unless you already made your mind up before the show to choose NXT over AEW. That’s not using main roster stars to draw now is it? Unless I’m forgetting something, wasn’t the only announced main roster act for the show the revival? If they really wanted to use main roster stars to draw, they need to announce them a week ahead of time, I’m sure they’d of gotten more viewers if we had a week of build for Becky wrestling a top nxt woman.

This is where AEW clearly books their shows better, watching this week’s episode I was told countless times what’s coming up on next week’s show, be it matches or even Cody making an appearance and then shoots hot angles to get you excited for the tv show. AEW will win next week I’m fairly certain.

Id be interested to see a breakdown of numbers by segment and demo. I bet AEW is still winning in the key demos.

I also would like to see if the aforementioned Lynch appearance caused a spike in views and if the views dropped afterwards. Same with other main roster appearances. It seems like NXT overruns deliberately to pick up channel changers from AEW?

Re: The Wednesday Night War Thread

I enjoyed both shows this week but overall I felt like NXT was the better show imo. It probably had to do with the build to TakeOver and SS, but tbh I’ve enjoyed NXT more as of late anyways. Even without bringing in stars from other shows, while enjoying both shows I’ve found myself enjoying NXT more in terms of match quality.

It is really funny that the hip, young brand of WWE can only win the boomer demographic.

    NXT: 810,000
    AEW: 663,000

First big win of the war for NXT and apparently it was the tightest it's been so far in the demos. The Survivor Series trick worked for NXT, but for AEW that'll be a hit that the Chris Jericho title match and Omega Vs PAC didn't draw.

Just about on top, but with NXT finally winning some U50 demos against AEW and the 6k difference in total viewers, this was the tighest week yet between them.

It's honestly so interesting seeing them exchange the lead so frequently now. I just wonder, why did AEW go up this week? I feel like they weren't advertising anything too huge. Certainly not on the level of last week. Has the hype just died down from Survivor Series that much already? Were there different things on USA and TNT before this week's shows, impacting the number of people who were already on the channel? I actually wonder how much what happens on the show is actually playing into the numbers.

Re: The Wednesday Night War Thread

AEW went up because last week was the night before thanksgiving so some of AEW’s Young fanbase were out being social. It was an anomaly they dropped so low last week. WWE’s hardcore fans are more creatures of habit and show more brand loyalty to watch live every week

NXT’s viewers went up too this week so the Survivor series angle is still a success and has pulled in more than just the hardcores.

Everything being up this week is good news. Especially after the Holidays in the US last week. It shows that they have consumers that will return after a slight break in habit which says a lot.

It's good to see 1.5 Million people (and more outside of the US) watching wrestling that's not Raw and Smackdown.
