Tight game so far, both defenses look really solid. Rodgers had that one drive that was awesome to see.

The new Bears kicker is tiny, but he did hit his first field goal tonight, and then right after he got a penalty for kicking it out of bounds on the kick off haha.

Neither team has looked great so far, some rust feels like it's showing for week 1, to be expected.

Week 1 Thursday game is a great spot to be in, no short week, and extra rest for the next game.

Rodgers seems to be warming up.

Bears have a great defense, but mediocre at absolute best offense. Trubisky is very Rex Grossman like. He's kind of a jack of all trades, master of none.....and...Just not good enough to not have any real weapons around him. Coaching is pretty unique, but not going to cut it with a mediocre offense.

Rodgers is getting in the groove, but I still honestly don't expect him to ever play quite at the level he used to due to the constant injuries. Wouldn't be shocked if he has another one this year or next. He also has an aging Jimmy Graham and Davante Adams as his only real weapons, but a pretty okay O Line.

It's definitely a bore fest of a game.
    Everything will surely be alright.

To this point, the Packers are actually crazy deep with promising WRs right now. You're already seeing MVS showing up in this game. He doesn't have more than one proven weapon yet but I think by the end of the year the national sports media is gonna know the names of one or two more Packer wideouts.

Well, yeah. I'll give it that. Some promising names that can definitely pan out, but that's gonna take a bit of time. And not a given.

    But I agree.
    Everything will surely be alright.

With a quarterback like Rodgers I believe they can pan out.

Sure, it gives them a huge edge, no doubt.

A great QB can make up for some green WRs.
    Everything will surely be alright.

Packers defense just put the division on notice. This unit is turning the corner.

That's great, but Mitch Trubisky ain't it. Their whole offense is hot garbage.

Yes, the Pack's D looked good...But the Bears offense looked worse than they looked good. They were terrible last year, too.
    Everything will surely be alright.

Bears have super reliable receivers, and a decent line. I'm not saying they're world-beaters but the Packers defense of years past would have bent and broken several times against that unit. They look real different in terms of energy, rush, and coverage.

The real test will of course be when they play a real offense, got the Vikings next week to deal with, but from the eye test this was a seriously good game they put up.

I think a large, large part of the issue for them is really on Mitch. I also think they need more of a run game, and did not care for the play calling.

But yeah, big jump forward in D for Packers.
    Everything will surely be alright.

Yeah, they just need to take a look as to why Robinson had such a great game. Everything else looked great. Trubisky looked lost.

    I agree.

They need to figure things out, and either build the offense calling around Mitch in ways he can handle, if that's an option.

    Also, the AB saga continues.

Yes, I'm sure the Texans would love you, AB. They already have a WR who's better.
    Everything will surely be alright.

I said it in the wrong thread, but that was a dumpster fire of a game.

Was expecting a 20-23 shootout and left mildly disappointed.

Re: 2019 NFL Season Discussion (100th Year Special!)

So glad the NFL season has started, and baseball season is over. I used to be just as enthusiastic about the MLB, but I just haven't been anymore. The season just drags on for me.

But now we're into football, which has pretty much become one of the only sports that I can still thoroughly enjoy despite the uncontrollable rage for the Patriots and their continuance of winning in spite of it. I passed out from about 6pm to 11:30pm, so I totally missed the entire Thursday night game, but from the looks of it things were pretty dry. Very similar game to the Super Bowl actually. Could we actually be transitioning back into more low scoring defensive games? Or are the last two games just flukes from struggling offenses? I guess we'll see in a couple days.

Someone remind me again why the Super Bowl winning team isn't opening up the season per tradition, and they gave us this Packers/Bears game instead? Just seems like poor scheduling on their part. I would've more so enjoyed to see Rams and Saints in the opening game, they play each other Week 2. Steelers at Patriots would have been the ideal fit, but they have the Sunday night slot instead. I read that it's in honor of the 100th season, and apparently Packers and Bears are the oldest rivalry in the league...but I don't know, I think marketing and viewership wise they might've taken a loss there when there were clearly better matchups that could've been scheduled.

If Antonio Brown does get booted to the curb, will he play again this season? I was having this conversation with someone earlier. They said that he'll be picked up right away by a team, it might be cheap, but that someone takes a chance on him. I said, that if I'm a GM I don't. This is the second locker room now in less than a year that he's gone into and made into a complete shitshow joke. I don't care how talented a receiver is in, he has shown the damage he has done to locker rooms. Why bring him in and let him do the same to yours? Fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice, Strike three.
