Also, on the subject of dirt worst, I don't care what anyone says, Tony Romo sucks ass and I'm just thankful I was able to switch over to SAP so he didn't ruin the entire game for me. I realize a lot of people love him. I'm not one of them, and nothing you say will change my mind, so don't even bother trying to argue his merits. He's the Bill O'Brien of announcers.
Yeah, I agree with you 100% on O'Brien. He's been bad for a while, but it's just...Arguably worse each big game that comes up. I feel bad for Watson, really. He's a really good QB, and the team could go a lot farther than this with a better coach. Maybe Texans wouldn't have won, but after that first quarter they should have, at the very least been able to keep that a close game. But when you not only give up a lead that big, but then fall in a hole that big? Holy crap, that is just a complete failure.

Don't agree with you on Romo, though. :P But commentators are really just a matter of opinion on what you enjoy hearing. If you don't enjoy it, you don't enjoy it. For whatever reason, I don't care for Doc Emerick. Many love him. I dunno, I just don't.
    Everything will surely be alright.

Actually, Vayne sums it up pretty well here...

I will say that I may have been a little hasty in my crowning of Romo as the dirt worst. I'd forgotten Booger McFarland was doing commentary for Monday Night Football. He is, undoubtedly, much worse than Romo could ever be. Ironically, ESPN is preparing to offer Romo a boatload of money to take a commentating job there, so perhaps he'll replace the one guy worse than he is.

I don't know about best, but I certainly enjoy both Aikman and Collinsworth more than Romo. I also loved the guy doing the SAP broadcast last night, though I can't remember his name off the top of my head.

Many people consider Romo great mostly because he calls out plays/events before they happen.

That fake punt was the worst play call of the playoffs this year by some distance.

Re: 2019 NFL Season Discussion (100th Year Special!)

My top two would be Romo and Collinsworth. I like Aikman too, but Joe Buck is such a charisma vacuum that it pulls down that whole broadcast for me.

Collinsworth and Al Michaels are a fun duo. I would say probably my favorite in the NFL.

Before Tony, it was Phil Simms and Jim Nantz, and I always thought Phil Simms was an atrocious commentator. So if nothing else I think we might be able to agree that Romo is better than Simms. I appreciate Romo a lot too because he clearly takes the time out to study things, and combining that with the experience of playing QB in the current era I think makes for an enjoyable broadcast.

Also, on Bill O'Brien. He should be let go. It's pretty clear at this point that under him, the Texans have a ceiling of maybe winning the division, and maybe winning a playoff game, and nothing more. And I think the argument against it would be that at this point, everyone else has had first dibs at coach hirings, who would you hire?

I would argue that the best Head Coaching candidate is still out there in Eric Bieniemy. How no one has hired him is beyond me, and we can go into a deeper discussion on if it's a race thing or not, but idk how he hasn't been hired yet.

Are there any current head coaching vacancies after the Cleveland hire, or would a new one have to be based on someone like the Texans firing their coach now.

Cleveland was the last vacancy so everyone is filled for the moment. I dont think o brien will get let go though, because Watson saved his job in that Buffalo game. If they lose that I think it's very likely he wouldve been gone.

He's probably got another season left to save his job since he made it his divisional round, but I imagine he'll get canned after a wild card loss next year at home, or maybe they miss the playoffs all together.

Funny that the big supposed star in the head coaching pool this year was McDaniels, who didn't get hired by anyone.

You have to wonder what this means for Bill Belichick's future in New England. Kraft HAS to be promising McDaniels the throne. It's why he backed out of the Colts job, it's why he wasn't hired by anyone here. The question is, when?

Had the Chiefs lost, I think Andy would've been a possibility. Mahomes got it done, though, so good for Andy.

Couple more wins and we can start to consider the 49ers a decently mediocre, almost average NFL team this season.

It probably wouldve gotten tossed around but ultimately I think they wouldve kept Reid regardless. But either way I agree good for Andy, rooting for him and Mahommes above anyone else that's left.

Re: 2019 NFL Season Discussion (100th Year Special!)

Applaud Kuechly for being able to walk away. Kuechly had two serious concussions that we know of in his pro career, missing 7 games from those. The one in 2016 I remember well, because it ended with him being carted off the field, crying uncontrollably.

I think it's great that guys are getting knowledge and the strength to walk away from the game, and it's probably something that will continue going forward.

If you ask me I'd still say Kuechly is a Hall of Famer. The run he had over his 8 year career, being the best at his position for the majority of it, I think he should still be considered.

What is it about the Titans that just bait teams into giving up penalties? Was the same with us last week too.

Breeland is a stupid penalty machine. Saw some of it in GB last year and more in KC this year. That seven is on him.
