    Looking over the list of current QBs starting, assuming Kaep came back and could play at the level he did last (unlikely after 3 years, even with staying in shape), I'd take him over 10-12 QBs starting right now. However, a handful of those are guys who won't be starting next year and are backups filling in. So realistically, the number is closer to around 8. Which isn't terrible, by any means.

    But Kaepernick looking athletic and in good shape and working out routinely is massively different than being game ready. Even players who have hold outs and miss camp come in looking worse for ware, yet alone a 3 year stint.

    I will honestly be surprised if he performs at a level that makes a team want to use him as a starter next year. I think he will have moments but won't be consistent. Game-shape and game-ready are huge factors. How quickly can he learn the Steelers offense to run it effective? Even if he plays at a replacement level.... its not like the Steelers (or many other teams) have better than that right now, so....
