Ceballos was really impressive today for Arsenal, much more so than Pepe who wasn't making the right calls once he passed the first man. That's a good win against Burnley that were giving them problems.

The Villa result is fantastic, to spend all that money and then start the season with 2 losses, it's lovely stuff. Grealish now has the record of most consecutive losses in the league at 20 lolololololol.

It's scary how ordinary City can make other top 6 teams look. They should have this game wrapped up already.

No. Especially considering they look to have fucked up in the EXACT SAME WAY as Fulham did on the transfer market last summer. I'd say label em as Fulham 2.0 until they prove otherwise.

And yeah, Pepe wasn't finding the right final ball, Ed. He was still running at people and making things happen, so quite hopeful that once he settles in a bit more, he will connect with the other attackers and make it all more fluid.

Spurs have been battered and have seemingly done nothing- but they have two goals and are in the game. Football can be so crazy Haha!

KDB is looking back to his best- both of his assists so far were absolutely quality.

How have Spurs allowed Trippier to go, and are left with Kyle Walker-Peters as their current first choice RB. He's been killed all game by Sterling. I know Foyth was pencilled in to play there but that's a shocking outcome. Assume Aurier is injured too?

Spurs got off lucky. Two goals against the run of play, one was basically given to them by high school goalkeeping. And a (correct) VAR decision. City looked class today though. KDB, Sterling, Bernado. Gah, I hate it.

    Scenes. Lucky Spurs.

Thing is, VAR gets that dumb accidental handball call right, but where were they for the penalty at 0-0?

Another VAR assist for Spurs Haha! Lucky, lucky.

Cracking down on the handball stuff big time. Like it or not- at least it's staying consistent.

We got absolutely battered and could have easily lost by more. Under Rafa we were a really nasty organised defence that wouldn't get rolled over by a probable relegation rival. Bruce has undone that already.

This must be how Everton fans felt going from the solidity of Moyes to Martinez.

Pepe will get there. He was electric in Ligue Un last season, but games in France are slower and a little more ponderous. When he gets used to the pace of the English game, he will show why Emery invested as much as he did over however many seasons they are paying the fees.

Yeah Pepe just needs time. Looks a little lightweight and rash- but he's got the arrogance and talent to make it in the Prem.

Loved watching some of his trickey yesterday and that one "Megz" was insane- though I'm not sure how much he intended it really Haha!

Quite looking forward to watching Chelsea vs Leceister today- should be a good game! Early pressure on Chelsea to win but it will not be easy.

Looks like it's going to be a loooonngggg season for Chelski.

Started well but Leceister were much the better team in the second half. Maddison pulling the strings.

Chelsea just look so toothless. Trastion season of course, but nobody will be worried about playing them I suspect.

United game tomorrow. Excited to watch it! Expecting a tougher game and a real test from Wolves.

Re: Premier League 2019/2020 Discussion Thread

I'm really curious how patient the Chelsea supporters will be with Mr. Lampard. He's legend there and he didn't come into a situation where he is likely to succeed in a significant way in a short period of time. But if they are sitting 10th at Christmas.... are they going to remain patient and understanding?

Being overlooked by the performance of Ceballos this week is another factor that resulted from our transfer business this summer.... Luiz and Gendouzi look like the same person on the pitch. They are so similar of build. Its almost surreal and I love it.

It would be unfair for Lampard to not get a transfer window where he can actually do something with the squad. Any manager thrown into that situation would find it hard. They need to give him time so let's see if Abramovich will change tact and not sack managers quickly.

    Completely agree. Totally unfair.

But so was giving one year to someone who was hired with full and complete knowledge of their singular dedication to a style of play, with the stated intention of having them change the clubs style of play, and then getting rid of them for that same singular dedication to that style of play. Especially when you buy two players to "transform" the style of play that the club has had in place for over a decade, one of whom is a GK.

Which is not to say I absolutely think Chelsea would have succeeded with Sarri and he should have gotten more time. I get why they were happy to have him go. But the "Give him time, it won't change immediately" didn't last long for him. And despite the situation Lampard is getting and the fact that he's a legend.... I'm just not sure how much that changes the basic demanding nature of the clubs supporters.

Lampard has got to get time and I hope he does to be honest.

Awkward start and much improvement needed but was always going to be a tough season. Needs to pick it up though because you never know with Chelsea and their owner.

He needs to also learn from Sarri's mistakes i.e substitutions. Always bringing on like for like replacements is what stopped us getting back into games last year.

Willian was absolutely abysmal when he came on, who on earth granted him the number 10 shirt needs to be shot. Hasn't got any end product whatsoever. Would rather have brought Alonso on at LW instead, at least he can cross a ball. Barkley staying on the bench when we need a goal is criminal.

    Come on PortugueseSuperAgentTalentLandingClub-hamton!!!!

Keep forgetting to mention.... Love to see Sean Dyche whinging about diving ruing the game when they were extremely lucky not to get 2 straight red cards - one for a rather nasty knee to the back and the other for shoving a player into the keeper, injuring the player. Guess gamesmanship is fine to Dyche as long as its overtly physical and intending to injure.

This is going to be a very open second half. Also I wonder how long it'll take Ole to knock "simulation" out of Daniel James.....

Do you mean outright diving or simulation in the sense of dramatically exaggerating the contact and its agonizing impact? I always take "simulation" to be a softer way of saying diving, but it can refer to the latter, where its just doing a Neymar on a regular basis.

Some hit from Neves, think their would of been a riot if that one was taken off for VAR.
