WWE NXT WWE NXT Discussion - May 22, 2019

    WWE NXT Preview
    May 22, 2019

    The boys are back

Reunited and it feels so good. After Roderick Strong extended an olive branch in the form of Matt Riddle’s bloodied flip-flop, The Undisputed ERA appear to be back and stronger than ever. With past issues behind them, NXT’s wolfpack now embarks on a road of opportunity. First task on the list: the championship picture.

Following Strong’s attack on Riddle, NXT Champion Johnny Gargano made the shocking announcement that he will put his championship on the line against Adam Cole at TakeOver: XXV. Cole, who’s been vocal about his claim to the top prize, is sure to have much to say in response to Gargano’s decision. Plus, with Cole’s “draped in championship gold” affirmation still lingering in the air, are the united ERA now the biggest threat to the NXT goldmine?

    Watch the throne

As all eyes remain fixed on the NXT North American Title, Velveteen Dream basks in the sought-after spotlight. From Matt Riddle to Buddy Murphy, His Highness has made examples of those who’ve decided to step up to his throne. As demand continues to be at an all-time high, “The North American Dream” will no doubt have much to say about the growing desire surrounding his crown when he strolls into Full Sail. What’s next for The Dream and his crown?

Candice LeRae takes on Reina Gonzalez

Last month, Candice LeRae expressed her desire to reassert herself in the crowded NXT Women’s division. After making a statement with a win over Aliyah, the laser-focused competitor now prepares for action against the intimidating Reina González. González, who made it far in the Worlds Collide Women's Battle Royal, poses a significant threat to LeRae’s plans. How will the spirited Superstar cross this hurdle and get back in the mix for the NXT Women’s Title?

    Mansoor in action

Given that he’s taken Dominik Dijakovic and NXT UK’s Travis Banks right down to the wire in singles matches, Mansoor has proven he’s no tenderfoot in the ring. As he posts up for a battle this week, will the scrappy competitor add a win to his impressive stretch?

Big news for NXT Tag Titles

With The Viking Raiders vacating the NXT Tag Team Championship, NXT General Manager William Regal is expected to address the status of the coveted prize this week. The news couldn’t be better timed, seeing as how NXT TakeOver: XXV is less than two weeks away. Don’t miss Regal’s much-anticipated announcement when NXT streams tonight at 8/7 C on the award-winning WWE Network.

Four corner tag team ladder match for the belts at TakeOver? Litty.

Crazy how Adam Cole is supposed to be this charismatic guy. His promo skills are really pretty mediocre. I like him and everything but he's never lived up to the standard that I see some people hold him up to.

Sean Maluta is simply gonna have to switch his look up because he looks like the long lost Uso triplet. Still not sold on Mansoor, honestly. He has the GENERIC 06 CAW template vibe. What are the odds he wins the 50 man battle royal at Blood Money III, seeing as he is from Saudi Arabia?

I stan Tyler Breeze coming back for these NXT appearances. And against Dream no less? Phenomenal. You can tell Breeze was so happy to be somewhere that the fans appreciated him.

Not much to say about LeRae and Gonzales. Unfortunately, LeRae is just a supremely basic competitor and I think being playing the role Johnny's concerned wife for months during that Ciampa feud set her back a great deal. Io Shirai on the other hand... yeah, she goes hard. Please get that belt off Baszler already.

Main event was a home run.

Dream was fantastic in his promo against Breeze. Breeze was alright, but his character just doesn't have much credibility to be talking smack to Dream so his jabs felt weak; even just comparing their NXT careers, Dream's has been better because he's won a championship. Very excited for their match though because the gimmicks are tailored made to feud with each other.

Good main event too, especially Riddle going ham with his strikes.
