    The 24/7 Championship

    Quote Originally Posted by WWE.com
Live on Raw, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley revealed the all-new 24/7 Championship, a title that can be contested anytime, anywhere, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as long as a WWE official is present. The title will be eligible to Superstars on Raw, SmackDown LIVE, 205 Live, NXT, NXT UK and even WWE Legends and Hall of Famers.

The new championship calls to mind the “24/7 Rule” of the retired Hardcore Championship, of which Foley was the initial bearer in 1998. Superstars can challenge for the title whenever or wherever they choose, meaning that any 24/7 Champion will always have a massive target on their back.

Shortly after the title was revealed, Titus O’Neil snared the prize in a scramble to became WWE’s first-ever 24/7 Champion, but Robert Roode capitalized less than a minute later to score a pinfall victory. That reign was also brief, however, as R-Truth pinned The Glorious One in the parking lot and vowed to bring the title to SmackDown LIVE ... except he called it something different.

    @RonKillings
We OUT! Taking this European Championship to #SDLive #247Title #dancebreak

This is just a taste of the chaos in store with the new 24/7 Championship, which can change hands on Raw, SmackDown LIVE, WWE Network shows, WWE Live Events or even on social media. Now, more than ever, anything can happen in WWE.
Filler so this doesn't pop up in the sidebar and spoil anything for anyone. Filler, filler, spoiler filler. Filler me timbers. How many characters does it take to fill up the sidebar post? Let's find out! Filler, filler, better to be a filler than a fooler, cos a fooler ain't cooler and a filler's a thriller. Etc, etc. That seems like enough.

So! WWE's introduced a new belt to the ranks, this one being the 13th active main roster title. And since it should encompass all brands, with the NXT & NXT UK titles too, that makes it the, hold on... *checks notes* ... 20th currently active title in the WWE. Golly.

WC, what are your thoughts and various predictions for this prestigious addition to WWE? Is it another example of throwing an idea out to die in a vain attempt to spark something new and fresh, without any plans for it outside of the first two weeks? Is it something for the lesser-seen lowcarders and nobodies to pad out the resume and have some fun with? Is it going to be more like the WWF Hardcore Title without the hardcore, or the DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship without the various amounts of Joey Ryan? Does WWE really need it? Is that REALLY the best title design they could afford? How long before it ends up on Brock Lesnar, therefore making Brock's quarterly appearances mean something aside from his ominous looming around the Universal title scene?

    THOUGHTS, GO.

But again, keep in mind that, with this being defended on Raw, Smackdown, and in theory, NXT, NXT UK, & 205 Live, please have spoiler warnings within your posts in this thread if you are discussing a title change on a show within the past 24 hours.

they should have whoever is champion at a given moment be forced to travel and spend time with an official at all times until they lose the belt. in fact, they should create a reality tv show with the sole purpose of following an official and the champion. in fact, they should do away with the belt and just have the official be the championship. you pin the champ, you get the ref.

I hope they go all out with the ridiculous matches with the 24/7 title. Be exactly like Iron Man Heavy Metal Title, even to the most ridiculous of winners. Have some fun with it. I'll make for some great tv.

Re: POTENTIAL RAW & SMACKDOWN SPOILERS - WWE's Newest Championship

There's definitely a place for this in WWE. It might not be the right time to debut it because you've just debuted and given up on a new set of belts this year in record time so you're just asking people to kick you over this, but if WWE had say only six championships, then I think this would of been more warmly received.

I'm all in on Drake continuing the fun after the show went off the air:

Re: POTENTIAL RAW & SMACKDOWN SPOILERS - WWE's Newest Championship

It's going to be a bit of fun initially, however it does give everyone who isn't involved with any kind of storyline at the moment a chance to do something. I look at this title as something fresh and it allows a lot of creativity as and when it requires. It can end up on any show at any time, with anyone holding the title. I said to Ed on twitter that I can see females holding this title quite often too.

Let's enjoy the ride and see what creative ideas both WWE come up with and the superstars themselves (Well those that are allowed to be creative anyway).

I'm with Ed - I have nothing against this idea at all. And they are already doing some fun things with it.

    But....

Forgive me for having zero faith in this company to hold to any idea for any length of time. I'm sure this will fall by the wayside awfully quickly and be forgotten for months at a time. That's just how the WWE rolls at this point. Consistency and logic are not their strong points.

I think it could be fun for a bit and get some random people involved who aren't getting any creative right now. I always liked when they would intertwine the hardcore title into the PPV.

Re: POTENTIAL RAW & SMACKDOWN SPOILERS - WWE's Newest Championship

While it’s really just a crutch to gloss over the company being unable to write decent TV segments, I think it should be harmless fun to have around. As others have said, it’ll give the lower midcard guys and the jobbers something to do on TV, and could make for some entertaining segments at least. I say could, as I’ve not got much faith in this company to do that. At least, not for long. Wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up being fished out of the trash bin a few months down the line ala Janitor Jim Duggan and the WCW TV title way back when. Overall though, for now, it’s a positive in my book.

Also, I’m going to guess I’m the only person that kinda likes the belt itself?

Truth is superb, and with this kind of title he could come up with all kinds of crazy stuff. The European Title and Lil Jimmy, what a combination

Truth needs to be protected at all costs

I’m all for the title, it was defo something that was ahead of its time. In the age of social media and the WWE network a title like this which can provide instant lols and clicks will be good for business.

I’m just worried they’ll get bored of it very quickly

So, is it safe to say that WWE have already given up on this idea?

Honestly, the chase and roll up formula is already boring me.

I know this is not the attitude era, it's a different time- but this is clearly meant to be the Hardcore Championship with a PG name. Can we not have someone nail the Champ with a chair or trash can now and then before attempting to pin him?

They didn't really gave up on it, but as soon as the jobbers came out for that scramble it was clear, that this wouldn't be a title you should look at with a completely serious mindset. I mean look at this weeks Smackdown episode. They actually insert the whole chase and stuff into one of the main storylines in WWE right now...and not in a very bad way.

This title could actually be fun, if WWE doesn't screw it up badly...which they will sooner or later.

Yeah I don't see the issue. Except that Jinder just isn't that likeable. But still... it's an inoffensive title reign.

It's me taking the piss out of my hatred for Jinder. Do people not get that?
