Guy came back from excursion December 2017 and has had a pretty strong and fast rise to the top since then with frequent wins over Tanahashi and Okada and a US title reign. At the end of 2018, Gedo turned heel on Okada to join with Jay and made him the new Bullet Club leader as a last throw of the dice strategy to get him heat as the top heel of the promotion just before Wrestle Kingdom. He beats Okada at the dome this year and then goes on to beat Tanahashi for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship a month later. They've given this guy lots of opportunities to be a main event player and it's not working so already they're back tracking a little by having him lose the title two months later and I don't see a scenario where he wins it back anytime soon or is in a main event at either WK 2020 show. And that's just talking about his standing in the company, from the fan perspective I think his reputation of being a good wrestler is hurt with every passing singles match.

What about Nakamura? Granted his 2018 wasn't great, but still he won the Royal Rumble, had a WM World Title match, and won the US Title in 2018, but in 2019 he's paired up in a random and terrible go nowhere tag team with Rusev.

Yeah I’d put this right up there as well. Even though he never won the WWE title, he still had a year that involved 4 wwe title shots on PPV and won a US title. He was treated as a fairly big deal until like autumn. Now he’s Aiden English’s replacement.

Man...he sucked so much during that push though. It felt destined he'd tank down the card and we all saw it coming. It'd be like voting for Jinder last year.

Guy fell so hard he skipped the dance contest and went straight to tagging with children.

He did also win Money in the Bank after that and was a semi-frequent contributor to the Universal Title scene.

I don't think he's fallen near hard enough to win this award but they definitely missed their best window with him and I wouldn't be surprised if we've seen the last of the Strowman super-push. He's never been a good enough wrestler to persist on lackluster booking. He got over on his size and charisma, but as the initial hype has worn off I think it'll be really hard to get it back.

Braun is a weird one. I feel like for whatever reason they're hesitant to pull the trigger with him. He's still over and to me has all the potential to be the big guy they so desperately want.

    Strowman > Lars etc

I guess they maybe see more in Drew McIntyre but it is just odd.

Yeah I'm with Booty on this one, he lost his luster awhile ago. Plus he's so big they could always turn to him again before the year's out. Even when he was a contender and all that that heel turn killed his overness and he's just so bad as a promo and in the ring he really only had his presence to rely on. They did a great job early on to mask his weaknesses but come on...that's not gonna last when you rely on their booking. Like Booty said, look at virtually all his feuds.

I do agree he's better off than Lars though for sure.

Re: 2019 Biggest Fall From Grace Ongoing Discussion

They had something with Braun and blew it multiple times. At the start of 2018 he was one of the most organically over wrestlers on the roster, however by Summerslam time they sacrificed that by turning him illogically into a heel for the Shield to beat up. Probably not a good idea to film him doing all these unbelievable feats of strength and make him look unbeatable, and then never have him win a singles title in 3 years on the main roster. It's a booking nightmare because they never want him as a main guy, but having competitive matches with languishing midcarders feels beneath him and kills the aura of him being a monster.

I was kinda hoping that with Roman moving to SD Braun would actually have a shot at being "the guy" on the brand.....Guess that dream is dead now.
