The big thing with Fiend v Rollins though is its not just a match. Its a World Title match in the Main Event slot of a PPV featuring the most over Wrestler in the World, and as always the McMahons made an absolute mess of everything in favour of keeping the guy they've hand picked for success on top. But even managed to make said hand picked top guy look bad.

Yeah, no idea how a sub-10 minute legends match with one botch was worse than Rollins vs Fiend. The HIAC match was offensive on every level.

The very least you didn't see two 50+ year old men nearly kill them selves in a match that means nothing but a blood money payday. Rollins vs. Fiend was bad booking but at least they didn't nearly kill themselves at least in real life just in kayfabe but, that is my thoughts.

What did people really expect from Goldberg/Taker? It wasn't great, but it was basically exactly what it should have been, minus a botch.

Expectations were much higher for the debacle that took place last Sunday. That alone should make it much worse, regardless of the myriad of other reasons that it is.

Re: 2019 Worst Match of the Year Ongoing Discussion

Goldberg vs Undertaker was a bad match but ultimately meaningless, and didn't damage anyone except maybe Goldberg's head. It didn't actively hurt either wrestler's credibility or booking because Undertaker has been a joke for half a decade and there were minimal expectations going into it. And if you went into that match with any sort of hype and expectation, then I've got a bridge to sell you.

Fiend vs Rollins managed to kill the momentum of the Fiend while also killing what little credibility remained of Seth Rollins' babyface run. It was a failure on every level, not just on the fact that there was a couple of bad botches (like Goldberg vs Undertaker). From a wrestling perspective it sucked balls, from a booking perspective it was even worse.

Re: 2019 Worst Match of the Year Ongoing Discussion

Thats the thing with Taker v Goldberg. It was a meaningless match between two old guys who couldn't have delivered much better than they did.

Rollins vs Fiend had zero excuse to be the complete shit show it was, but the McMahons turned it into a complete mess and while most people who talk about cancelling the network didn't cancel they would have lost more fans from that debacle. The lack of importance to the Legends match compared to how important Fiend vs Rollins was is a huge difference maker.

They could have sent the fans home happy and established The Fiend as a top guy. They could have tried too rescue Rollins atrocious World Title run. Instead they did neither and both guys; the current FOTC and the most over person on the Roster looked like shit coming out of it. Taker v Goldberg affected nothing. While they've got to go along and pretend a now less over Fiend is still a scary Monster and deal with Rollins getting more and more boo's as everyone grows weary of his woeful Title reign.

A botch? Goldberg concussed himself Taker, nearly broke Goldberg's neck, Goldberg almost broke Taker's hip and neck and Goldberg couldn't even do the finish granted he was hurt but, that match is my front runner no doubts the thing I didn't like bout Wyatt vs. Rollins was the ending but by far not the worse match of all time just a damn near offensive booking that WWE is to blame over the talent that had to try and build that golden pile of shit.

They should of never booked Wyatt vs. Rollins like I said I would of done Strowman vs. Fiend in HITC but, that's just me in the end though that's my thoughts

What was the one botch? I really don't want to watch that depressing mess again, but I'm sure I recall there being at least three and all pretty bad.

The after effect of Rollins/Fiend is Rollins looking like even more of a dork and reactions to the Fiend being reduced (based off last night). Meanwhile the after effect of Goldberg/Taker was the Riddle/Goldberg beef starting up, which is amazing, so I know which match was the more damaging one.

Fiend vs Rollins happened on a proper PPV that's a main part of the show. Goldberg vs Taker happened on a fantasy booked show for royalty essentially. One has a bigger factor than the other.

Well the one kayfabe-hurting botch was the fudged tombstone. Goldberg hitting his head on the post and the Jackhammer turned into a Brainbuster were clearly accidental but didn't hurt the match kayfabe-wise.

I’m willing to bet that the real reason you dislike the match more is simply due to your feelings about Goldberg.

Not even that I just find no joy in seeing two 50+ year old men nearly kill each other to cash in on a payday in the middle east it was by far the worse match in my opinion regardless if it was Goldberg or not especially since Goldberg nearly killed himself. I like Taker too but, the only match left for Taker is Sting and that is solely for promo's if nothing else. That won't ever happen though. That match was like watching a slow motion car crash.

FWIW I am pulling for a Goldberg/Riddle match.

Goldberg vs Taker was the worse match, Rollins vs Fiend was worse in terms of booking.

There's no reason to play the moral high ground about Undertaker and Goldberg taking place in the middle East when both Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt have been happy to take that payday too.
