    Tommaso Ciampa

It's probably not the perfect time to make a pitch for him because his stock isn't as high as it used to be, but as I'm rewatching random matches from 2015 and 2016, Ciampa crops up a lot in indies as he's doing his farewell tour and is having hard hitting, legitimate great matches on his way out of different promotions world wide. When I compare that to some of the other goodbye/you deserve it farewells I've had to endure of the years as NXT signs everyone up, Ciampa's is one of the few that sticks out as still giving his all, having great matches and trying to build up and put over his opponents before he leaves.

I think I've made my thoughts on DIY pretty clear of the years - I think their short run as a team in NXT is an all timer and created some of the greatest tag team matches in WWE history. In a fraction of the time as The Bar, Usos and New Day have had, DIY's back catalogue of matches is stronger. As critical as I was on the Ciampa/Gargano storyline, I still loved the NOLA match and my criticisms on the sequels were mainly booking and agenting issues. I have enjoyed his other title matches with Black and Dream and I still voted him as my heel of the year in 2018.

The big downers for me would be if he is joined at the hip with Gargano again in 2019 because for everyone's sake we need some fresh directions down in full sail. Oh, that and missing half of 2017 with an injury.

He's definitely in consideration for me. Great in DIY, he's got the New Orleans match to his name, I enjoyed his match with Gargano in the CWC, I loved his match with Velveteen Dream at Takeover last year. I think he's got a good shot of making my list.

Question - who goes higher, him or Gargano?

Right now Gargano, but i'm not liking this heel run at all from Gargano so things could change a year from now.

Gargano easily higher for me, and I can't see that changing.

You know what, Ciampa would be higher than Gargano for me. I absolutely loved his indy run after ROH than his ROH run itself. His Sabre series ruled, he was fun in PWG, he’s had one of my only likable CHIKARA matches in the last five years. And he’s an absolute hell of a talent in NXT. He’s a lot more versatile as a character than Gargano.

I can honestly say that I have never had anything I would call a bad blowjob, that wasn't a great experience but up until I started gushing blood I was having a great time!

Whilst I think Gargano is better, Ciampa would be higher for me too. He was the far better of the two during their feud. With that being said, Ciampa has never really impressed me. I can't think of anything special about his matches. Even his DiY run, I was always down on his, compared to his partner and opponents.

    Just watched

Tommaso Ciampa vs Kassius Ohno, NXT TV 9/5/18

This was awesome, probably the best NXT TV match I can recall and one of my favorite Ciampa singes matches. Really stiff, hard-hitting match with Ohno beating the shit out of Ciampa and Ciampa doing lots of dastardly heel stuff that is clever, without being cheap. I always thought he was a shitty Low Ki wannabe on the indys but he hangs with Ohno here. Ohno starts dropping knees on Ciampa's eye and he sells it like his socket is broken. I came away from this wanting to see more 10 minute Ciampa matches and less 25 minute matches.
