    The XFL Discussion Thread

I thought it was about time it gets it's own thread, but the XFL officially announced the locations for its teams today and you might be surprised at some of them:

    D.C.
    Dallas
    Houston
    Los Angeles
    Seattle
    Tampa Bay
    New York
    St. Louis

It'll be interesting to see how they work around it, since the New York team will be playing alongside the Jets at Met Life.

Dallas will be utilizing the old Rangers field.

LA has the Stub-Hub Center as their home turf.

Post your thoughts on the big news.

    Re: The XFL Discussion Thread

I give it 3 seasons before at least a few of the teams cave.

I'm interested to see it, and will pay a bit of attention.

But they are going to be behind NFL, CFL, Arena League, etc. You also have AAF and a few others up and coming. Their draw for talent pool will be interesting, and means of doing it.

Considering how many shares Vince has sold of WWE, and how much he has invested in this, it seems like he's really focusing on this going forward.

The Giants play there as well but it won't be an issue as I believe the XFL season is set to begin as soon as the NFL season concludes.

    The Giants play football still?

I hadn't realized based on their performance or lack their of the last two years.

At least the Giants have beaten two potential playoff teams this year, which is more than you can say for the other team that shares the stadium with them.

    Re: The XFL Discussion Thread

    Very true...

Though, to be fair..The Giants were for quite a while a team in recent years (Until 2017,18) a team that you think has a shot at the playoffs regularly. A team that usually does at least have a winning season, but now nose-dived dramatically.

The Jets? Well...........68 was a good year?

    Back to XFL...

I'd like to see it succeed. I wonder who I'll root for, since Boston doesn't have a team...

What are the team names and uniforms like?

I'll probably choose by that, or who gets a signing I like.

Edit: Guess names aren't revealed yet.

Also, Seattle's team will play in Century Link. So the Seattle, New York, LA, and Florida stadiums are all ones that have current NFL teams play in them. They are also playing in the former St Louis Rams stadium, there.

    Re: The XFL Discussion Thread

To be fair, I'm planning on rooting for St. Louis since it's the closest team until a proper Midwestern team is formed in either Chicago, St. Paul, or Grand Forks.

Getting St. Louis though is a major coup for the XFL. They finally get a new football team and they've struck a major market not touched by the NFL anymore, basically giving them a huge fanbase already hyped up on football.

As for Houston, there's talks the team will either buy out the Oilers name or could be named the Gamblers. That's all unofficial speculation though.

As far as the talent pool is concerned though, I imagine the XFL will strike a mutual deal with the CFL to share talent as well as scouting smaller college for talent. There is so the idea they could recruit rugby players and just teach them the rules within the next couple of years. Also getting a deal with the NFLPA could be crucial as well. There are plenty of guys who could do well in the XFL who aren't good enough to be in the NFL.

I doubt it since Vinny Mac is pals with Trump

Which leads me to wonder, if given his long standing beef with the NFL since the early 90s (Which has quite escalated recently), if Trump will stick up for the XFL?

    I hope not.

Ttump's Beef with the NFL is because the league (rightfully, considering his business history) would not let him own a team.

Let us not forget Trump singlehandily led USFL to its death with the antitrust lawsuit against the NFL. The other owners were hesitant to go ahead with it but Trump was so adamant there was no stopping him.

Had Trump settled the fuck down, the USFL would likely still be around. Hell, it could have potentially been bigger than what it was when it died. It was making a profit before the lawsuit, and that drained the league's funds so much that no amount of profit could have saved it... as well as the reward for winning the trial was so minuscule it would have been better to not have filed the lawsuit in the first place.

So fuck Trump. He kills footballs teams he supports.

    I hope not, as well.

Vince may be chums with him, but I hope at least he is smart enough a businessman to avoid it.

I Watched The Entire Press Conference Yesterday

No Mention Of Any Kind Of TV Deal Which Is Obviously Crucial
Playing Games Outside In new York & Washington In February & March Is A Bad Idea

I Think They Should Have Started off Smaller And Not Put Games In Such Big Buildings (Met Life)
For The New York Team I Would Have Put The Team Somewhere In New York State (Indoors)

Some Of The Rules Are Interesting
    No Field Goals
    No Kickoffs
CFL Receiving Rule (Only Need One Foot In Bounds)

All except one market has NFL teams already. Don't understand why they didn't go to more places without teams already. But who knows what the hook of this will be. Without some big name players I'll probably keep CFL as my #2 football league.

    Re: The XFL Discussion Thread

Lest we forget in regards to talent pools, the AAF has a one year headstart on them and if they survive into a second year, players signed to the AAF won't be competing in the XFL either. This could be the absolute lowest of the low football players playing here. We're talking the starting QB at Appalachian State levels.

I agree. I don't know why you wouldn't go with something like Austin, Charleston, Columbus, OKC, Orlando, Portland, Saint Louis, San Antonio

    Re: The XFL Discussion Thread

Wasn't the spawn of this the whole NFL/kneeling thing and Vince seeing an opportunity to brand MURICA FOOTBALL? This doesn't launch until 2020 or whatever so you're gambling on the state of the country being similar to now or worse.

It's not like Kap is getting signed to this league. Like the pro standing players are still standing during NFL games. Unless you're gonna pay these dudes vastly more money guaranteed like...who is even playing.

Funny enough, something else the AAF beat them out on. Atlanta, Birmingham, Memphis, Orlando, Arizona (Tempe), Salt Lake, San Antonio, and San Diego. Just one NFL city in that bunch.

Both the AAF's & Ino's lineups sound way better than what XFL came out with.
