    Dynamite Kid Passes Away

Marty Jones has announced that Dynamite Kid, Tom Billington, has passed away today on his 60th birthday. I guess that's one that's been coming for some time, guy has been in poor health for ages. RIP.

Yea... it had to happen at some point. But his own birthday ? Man...

I always paired him up with Owen Hart when I played LoW II on the Gamecube back in the day.

So sad to hear about this. One of my favourite wrestlers to watch from the 80's. Great wrestler and highly influential in many ways. R.I.P

Very sad to see. One of the most innovative and best of all time, inspired so many.

Yet another one gone far too soon in the wrestling business.

Unfortunately, we all knew he likely would not have that much longer given how poor his health has been for so many years.
Everything will surely be all right.

One of the most influential wrestlers of all time. He wasn’t a great person in real life but he was great to watch in the ring. Such a shame that his career was cut short. He’s been battling numerous health issues for ages. Sad that he had to go on his birthday. The British Bulldogs are one of my fave tag teams of all time.

Just before I found out today I finished watching his Survivor Series 87 match. I then started watching the Survivor Series 88 20 man tag match.

    RIP Dynamite Kid

Dynamite is a mixed bag for me. Behind the scenes, he was an awful person and probably the biggest bully you would ever see, especially to his own family.

But God damn could he wrestle circles around everyone in his heyday. Probably one of the most influential wrestlers of all time.

    Re: Dynamite Kid Passes Away

Funnily enough, it was just a couple of days ago that the WWE Network added a new series of "Superstar Picks" featuring Becky Lynch picking random matches to be shown and one of the matches was Dyno vs Tiger Mask from MSG.

Dyno was a controversial figure. In the ring, many people, including myself, considers Dynamite to be an incredibly gifted wrestler. I know others, I believe Steve, have been critical in how Dynamite was rated, but the majority seemed to think he was great. Whether it was a good or bad thing in hindsight, Dynamite was very influential. The Bulldogs, Bret, and Savage were the main ones responsible for updating the style in the WWE in the mid 80s, quickening the pace and adding more moves. This is the guy who literally created the top rope superplex after all. At the same time, his style led to him becoming a broken down man at still a relatively young age and helped inspire the likes of Daniel Bryan and Chris Benoit to fuck up their bodies too. If Davey Richards is truly done with wrestling, he's the luckiest one out of the main wrestlers inspired by Dynamite to be able to get out of this business without any truly serious injuries. As a human being, Dynamite will never be as bad as the absolute scum in pro wrestling like Grizzly Smith or Bob Sweetan, but he's not much more respectable. Especially with all that came out after Benoit's death, there's some really fucked up stories involving Dyno.

I'm not going to shed any tears over his death, but fuck was Dynamite an awesome wrestler.

Regardless of whatever you may think of him as a wrestler and as a human being, there's no denying he was a legend and an infamous icon. RIP

It's been a while since I checked out Dynamite, gonna try and see if anyone's compiled anything like you usually find after a death. But anyone have a list of recommended matches?
