Agreed. It pained me to leave off a personal fave like Teen Wolf but it's not really about basketball. Same goes for Let It Ride, as I think that's more about gambling on horse racing than the actual racing. Still a hilarious movie though.

As Much as I wa ted to put Better off dead on my list the movie really is not about Skiing. The main sport of that movie is Dobbds running away from the kids who wants his $2.00.

Haha, so sorry, it's not Hot Dog either. That's a really fun movie though. I also left off Ski School and Ski School 2 as I'm suddenly realizing there's several good comedies that center around skiing.

Although I didnt include it on my list but the best fictional sport movie is Baseketball. I hope someone gave it some love. I am surprised Extreme Ops didnt show up on the wiki page as it Included whitewater rafting, skateboarding, skiing, and snowboarding.

Nope, it's not Aspen Extreme either.

You won't have to wait long to find out which movie it is since it's my number 5 and I'm pretty sure there won't be any last minute votes for it.

The majority of the ones I put on were not really what many would call "Great Films" or win many awards, but...I love them all, and they are all favorites. Could have easily put on about 10 more that fit that category.

I did, however, put on one of the best movies ever made on the list to offside those. :P

Well, there was 5 of those movies in the original series. I highly considered just putting them all as my list.

Not sure if you remember him but that sounds like a classic here is GRAPES list to me.

We're currently sitting at a whopping 55 movies for this countdown so things are shaping up to be pretty fun in here once we start tomorrow.

Re: WC's Fave Five Sports Movies~!

Alright folks, the lists are all in and as I mentioned in my last post we've got a lot of movies to cover so let's kick things off right now with the 10 pointers...

    15T. Air Bud - 10 Points (Vayne #5)

    15T. Coach Carter - 10 Points (Easy Joe #5)

    15T. Downhill Racer - 10 Points (Fuji Vice #5)

15T. Eight Men Out - 10 Points (Wang Chung #5)

    15T. Ip Man - 10 Points (Zero #5)

15T. The Jesse Owens Story - 10 Points (The EC #5)

    15T. Rush - 10 Points (Evil Jon #5)

    15T. Seabiscuit - 10 Points (Gipper #5)

Downhill Racer is an excellent character study with some fine performances from both Redford and Hackman. It's well worth seeking out if you're into a little drama with your sports movies. Eight Men Out is a solid movie that holds up pretty well and I also enjoyed Rush, Seabiscuit, Coach Carter and Ip Man. I actually prefer Ip Man 2 because of Sammo Hung but I won't argue about Donnie Yen appearing on any list.

Next up, football, surfing, golf and...beer?

I cant wait to see how many of us have different views on sports movies if we have that many titles already.

Nice to see we posted at the same time Fuji.

Coach Carter was a good one and on my short list. I didnt consider and of the Martial arts movies because they could have their own top 5 but if I was going to how could you pass up Karate Kid and Bloodsport.

I feel like it's always a good sign when a movie is able to hook me on a subject I've got absolutely zero interest in (racing). Rush did that.

OOoh Ip Man was a good one! I, too, veered away from the martial arts flicks because it was like going down a whole different rabbit hole.

I was going to make the same point

I am not a racing guy at all, but while watching Rush, I found it to be very interesting how racers move up the ranks

For instance there is an F-4 among others on the way to the F-1

    OH MY GOD!!

    OH MY GOD!!

    I forgot IP Man Fuji

I second that shout 2 I love more than 1, but still a great film. Air Bud man I had that on VHS..VHS people and it was dark for a family film if you think about it. The Dog was abused and got away from it's Owner and went with a kid who in the beginning he didn't trust at all and found a family who loved him in the end. No where in the Rule Books it says a Dog can't play Basketball hehe.

Re: WC's Fave Five Sports Movies~!

Eight Men Out and Rush were on the list before I started cutting.

Gonna have to check out Downhill Racer for Hackman and Redford. Also may give the Jesse Owens a look since Eightball from Full Metal Jacket plays him.

Haven't seen Air Bud since I was a kid.

    I dug Coach Carter.

Never saw Ip Man or Seabiscuit.
