For my money, Ryan Adams' "Wonderwall" is the best I've heard. Totally reinvented it and even the Oasis guys think it's an improvement on the original.

Of the thousands of folks who covered Adele's "Hello," this is by far my favorite take.

And lastly for now, these guys are Youtube famous for covering every song under the sun, mostly in the same acoustic, stripped down fashion, but I think this is the one time it really worked. Taylor Swift's spiteful break-up jam gets torn apart and turned into a mournful admission of a relationship's end.

Now that we're getting a little more obscure, I've always been partial to this version of Wonderwall...

On a similar tip, Richard Cheese covering Cypress Hill is ridiculously awesome....

So here's one that I'd bet no one here has heard before. It's from my cousin's bluegrass band that won the State Championship at the Bluegrass Festival here in Arkansas. They're all teenagers and man they're good. The quality isn't the best, but I still encourage anyone who's a fan of old style music to give it a listen.

The 1:00 mark gives me chills every single time.

House of the Rising Sun.....Clarence Ashley 1933, yep, this is where The Animals got it.
Leevee Breaks....Memphis Minnie & Kansas Joe McCoy late 20's, Led Zeppelin cover
Statesboro Blues....Blind Willie McTell 1928? Allman bros cover
Fixin' to Die...Bukka White late 30's, Bob Dylan cover
Cocaine Blues...Luke Jordan 1927, a whole slew of covers...
Sittin' On Top Of The World...The Mississippi Sheiks 1930....Bob Wills
Lovesick Blues...Emmet Miller late 20's....Hank Williams
Hound Dog...Big Mama Thornton early 50's...Elvis

Actually it really does go on and on, a ton of old blues tunes have been covered.

Pink Floyd got that name from pre war blues cats PINK Anderson and FLOYD Council.

When it comes to music and the obscure give them old blues from the 20's and 30's a try. So many of those guys recorded but one record, hell, a few just one song.
