Thank god for the title race because without those two teams this would have been the most boring season in years.

Poor Liverpool, cannot fault them for anything. Third highest points total ever and to come 2nd is just silly. City are just too good, with that strength in depth that has carried them over this last 14 games.

Ole should definitely be sacked. Cut your losses and run.

The biggest story of the day, quite obviously, is Arsenal winning away from home! And epsecially against a feisty side like Burnley. Aubameyang scored a pair to finish top of the scoring charts... along with Mane and Salah. Had a huge chance to finish the hattrick and win it outright. Youngster Eddie Nketiah scored as well.

#OleIn Forever. You lot are so demanding. Have some patience. Give him a chance.

Agree on Rafa, Ed. Think Newcastle could be in some trouble without him.

Nah, needs time. Needs windows. Opportunity to shape the squad. What's the worst that can happen? You lot will have loads of fun with us next season in the Europa League.

Re: Premier League 2018/19 Discussion Thread

Painful end to a great season. Honestly there wasn't anything more we really could have done bar going undefeated. Every team has their blip, when City had theirs they were losing, when we had ours we were still grinding out points. City are just an unreal team and Pep is truly an unreal quality manager. Huge congrats to City, the most deserving team won in the end.

Its gonna be a very interesting summer now. Man U will certainly need a huge restructure (Pogba is all but gone, Sanchez is all but following him out the door too....maybe even De Gea), Chelsea have their transfer ban in place (And Hazard is all but gone...good thing they locked in Pulisic before the ban), Arsenal will need to work out the kinks in their squad and Spurs....will probably be spurs and still not spend any money.

Interesting to see where we develop going into next year. Would love a good solid pair of fullbacks to cover Roberston & TAA when needed (Hopefully we keep Clyne as a #2) and a more creative centre half. Maybe we'll go back in for Fekir again...who knows.

Yeah and they also have the transfer ban.

Incredible title race. For the first time in 10 years, Man City become the first team to retain the title. 198 points over 2 seasons, that’s an amazing achievement. Back to back titles. Man City will continue to get more stronger.

Liverpool have been nothing but exceptional. 97pts and only lost one game all season. Alisson won the golden glove, Mane and Salah joint top goalscorers along with Aubameyang, Van Dijk player of the year. There’s always next season. Winning the CL final would be their redemption.

Glad Arsenal won and we finished ahead of Man Utd who lost to relegated Cardiff. Aubameyang joint golden boot winner with Salah and Mane. Really frustrating that we finished 1 point off the top 4. All we had to do was beat Brighton last week, we would have been 4th! Or if Aubameyang didn’t miss that penalty in the NLD or a win in at least one of the games from the three defeats in a row(Palace, Wolves and Leicester). Lots of lessons to be learnt from this season. Now a Europa League Final to look forward too, huge opportunity to win a trophy and get back into the CL.

Not sure how to post the pic but my mate sent me this.

    Man City: Premier League Champions
    Liverpool: Champions League Final
    Chelsea: Europa League Final
    Tottenham: Champions League Final
    Arsenal: Europa League Final
Man United: Ole’s at the wheel!!!

RE Liverpool....I find it hard to see where they can improve outside of having a quality CB to partner VVD. At least with City you know they need a holding midfielder as Fernandinho is on his last legs, and probably another CB as Kompany is on his last legs, but with Liverpool you don't really see that need without changing their formation...and that's the scary thing about this current Man City team!

Re: Premier League 2018/19 Discussion Thread

I find it amazing that there are United 'fans' calling for One to be sacked. Shows a lot as to where our club is at right now all around. Shit squad, fickle fans, bollocks boardroom. If you believe that this run in is the managers fault then you're deluded. It's the players. They've proven with the amazing run they put together during Ole's interim period and then the contrasting run in to the end of the season that they are happy to just turn it off and on like a tap whenever they feel like it. Disgusting. Makes me sick that there's cancerous players like that at the club. Why should the manager get the blame and then these louts get to stay at the club and collect their astronomical paychecks? No. Sorry but in this case we need to stick with the manager and root out the real problem.

Can't wait for the summer clear out of the squad so that we can get some lads on the pitch that actually give a shit about putting on that shirt.

Re: Premier League 2018/19 Discussion Thread

Decided to do a bit of a keep/sell thing on those that made a Man Utd appearance this season haha.......

    Goalkeepers

David De Gea - Keep -Showed a bit of indifferent form at times, but form is temporary, class is permanent. I know his head will be turned by potential offers from Madrid and Paris, but i'd trigger the one year extension to his contract now and promise him a move if we don't get Champions League this time next year.

Sergio Romero - Keep - There aren't many better back up keepers than an Argentine international.

Lee Grant - Keep - Only saying keep as Dean Henderson should be sent back to Sheff Utd for next season to continue his development, and Joel Perreria should be in the same boat.

    Defenders

Victor Lindelof - Keep - Our best centre back this season. Get a top quality defender alongside him and we'll have a solid basis to work from.

Eric Bailly - Sell - As much as I like Bailly, he is too rash, too often. Sadly I don't think he's going to learn any time soon with that so would be better to cash in now before it's too late.

Luke Shaw - Keep - No brainer really. Been the best player in the squad all season and deserves his spot as first choice left back.

Phil Jones - Sell - I know he's recently signed a new contract, but at best he'd be back up for the team, and I would prefer TFM as that back up option. Need's to move on now, not good enough for the level we need to be at.

Chris Smalling - Keep - He'll be handy to have in the squad for when once of the first choice pair aren't available. Wouldn't be starting him week in week out, but is now very experienced at this club and level so we need one or two of those heads around. Probably not a popular choice though haha.

Marcos Rojo - Sell - Thanks for your efforts and goodbye, not good enough at this level.

Diogo Dalot - Keep - Showed glimpses of his potential, possibly more suited to a more advanced role, but has time on his side.

Ashley Young - Keep - As much as I want to say sell him, we aren't going to get an experienced player to play 2nd fiddle at full back at this moment in time. Much like Smalling an unpopular choice but needs must and all that.

Matteo Darmian - Sell -Time for the Italian to move on and say thanks for the efforts.

Antonio Valencia - Already Leaving - Time is right for Antonio to move on. He may have a season or two left in his legs however it's time to say thanks for your service.

    Midfield

Paul Pogba - Keep - Do the same with Pogba as i've said with De Gea. Get him to stay one more year then allow him to leave next summer if we don't get CL football. I know i've criticised him recently, however he can put in those performances required.

Fred - Keep -I'd give Fred one more season. It can take South American players a year to settle into a new league, so give him next season. If he doesn't improve then off he goes.

Nemanja Matic - Sell - Look at selling him now so we can get something back for him. I'll give him credit for improving his play post Jose era, however has seemingly lost what he had.

Ander Herrara - Already Leaving - Sad news, would be in my starting XI next season, all the best in Paris.

Juan Mata - Let Go -As much as I love Mata, the way Ole wants United to play isn't suited for Mata. Good luck on your next career move and enjoy Barca if you end up going.

Andreas Periera - Keep - Keep him on the basis that he's a squad player. Will need to improve massively though or he'll be out next summer.

Scott McTominay - Keep - Start him more, don't ever play him at CB again!

Angel Gomes - Keep - Keep him on the books but send him out on loan to gain vital experience.

James Garner - Keep - Same as Gomes, keep him on the books but send him out on loan to gain that experience.

    Forwards

Romelu Lukaku - Keep -May be going against the grain here but keep Big Rom, he still can find the net and he offers something different from the other forwards.

Marcus Rashford - Keep - If he can learn to finish on a more consistent basis we'll have a big shout at the top 4.

Anthony Martial - Keep -Keep for now. Shows glimpses of brilliance then loses confidence for ages. Needs a consistent season next time out for me.

Alexis Sanchez - Sell - See ya later Alexis.

Jessie Lingard - Keep -As much as I want rid of him, he does have his moments and is a handy squad player and to have about for counter attacks late on.

Tahith Chong - Keep - Give him more opportunities or give him a half season loan to continue development.

Mason Greenwood - Keep - Needs to play more, yesterday proved that.

So i'm saying get rid of 9 and let a few out on loan...there's no way we'll bring in 9 players to replace them so we may only see a few leave as it's a long process eurgh.

Re: Premier League 2018/19 Discussion Thread

    Oh, Keep/Sell is fun!

    Club: Arsenal

    Must Keep: no one.

Can / Should Sell: anyone and everyone.

I'm being facetious. To a degree.

i would be sad to see either of Lacazette or Aubameyang leave. Now that Ramsey is leaving and Ozil is inconsistent to the point he's a pure luxury player, these are the two who most make Arsenal fun and watchable on the pitch. They do so much for us, and their friendship is the kind of dynamic every supporter wants to see at their club. As the ArseCast has put it a few times, these are two clear Champions Leave caliber players on a squad that mostly seems to be Europa League quality players.

But there is literally no one that it would break my heart to see us sell. Quite a few players would be very difficult to replace. The likes of Bellerin, Leno, Torreira, and the two strikes. But if the offer is significant.... Getting a ridiculous 80m fee for someone would fund 2 or 3 players, and the squad needs quality, not just one or two additions. Given that large portions of the squad are unlikely to become significantly better players by next season, that's the most reasonable way for us to progress as a squad. Although there is a possibility we could sell a player for big money and simply have our owner cash that out.

Would probably keep most of the Pool team tbh. Origi has certainly earned himself another chance with that late run. The only people I would let go of at this stage are Lallana, Sturridge & Moreno. Both Lallana and Sturridge simply don't have the legs anymore (but would be great pickups for Mid table sides) and Moreno is just.....Moreno. Also wouldn't lose sleep if we got rid of Lovren.

    Newcastle:

I'd keep most of the squad. Low on quality but plenty of heart and determination. That said I think we need to bring in much better standard of players and move the guys we've got to rotation options.

Players I'd like to see moved on: Shelvey, Kenedy, Manquillo, Joselu, Atsu. Either not good enough, bad attitude, or a total liability. Some a combination of all three.
