Sad news. One of the best big men in wrestling history. A great monster heel. A legend. Loved his WCW run. He deserved a WWE title reign back in 1996/97. Damn WWE for not inducting him when he was alive. RIP Vader. Thanks for the memories.

They really need to induct Kamala next year before it’s too late.

Sucks to hear this news. Easily one of the best big man workers of his era no doubt.

An excellent athlete on the football field and in the wrestling ring. I remember when he beat Sting for his first world title. He WAS WCW in the early 1990s. If not for back stage politics he would have had a few more runs as champion. Definately an outstanding legacy in wrestling.

Random wrestling history tidbit. With the passing of Vader, there are now no WCW PPV’s where everyone on the card is still alive. Slamboree 1994 was the only ppv left you could say that for before today.

A favorite from childhood and even still as an adult. A ton of memories. Love the big dude from Japan to WCW to WWF to Boy Meets World to Japan again to his random WWE one offs.

    RIP Big Van Vader.

    Re: Vader Passes Away

Ah shit. Was an enormous fan of his, primarily from his run in WCW in the early 90s. He was what I want to see from a monster in wrestling, and still is. A true gent, too, according to most stories. I only
wish he’d been given a proper shot in WWF, because a run with him on top in 96 with Bret and Shawn would have been money.

RIP to an all time great.

    Re: Vader Passes Away

I wasn't really watching when Vader was working in WWF and back then I certainly wasn't checking out WCW or the Japanese scene because I didn't know that either existed, but even with such limited access to the product I knew of and remembered Vader. He looked and moved like no one else I'd ever seen before and once I got back into wrestling that stuck with me. I wasn't a big fan of him going off on Ospreay and Ricochet but I always respected his work in ring whenever I saw it. A true legend in this business.
