    Rambo V: Last Blood (2019)

Rambo V Shooting Scheduled to Start in September

According to Screen Daily, Millennium Films is bringing the fifth film in the Rambo franchise to Cannes this week to cover worldwide sales. According to the trade, Rambo V shooting is set to begin in September in London, Bulgaria, and the Canary Islands with Sylvester Stallone once again in the lead, and a director to be announced shortly.

The new film finds John Rambo coping with intense PTSD while living on a ranch in Arizona, trying to pick up casual work wherever he can. Soon his friend and estate manager Maria informs him that her granddaughter went missing after crossing into Mexico for a party, so John travels south of the border to find the youngster. The quest quickly turns into a violent descent into hell as Rambo uncovers a sex-trafficking ring, teaming up with a journalist whose half-sister has also been kidnapped. Rambo has to deploy all his skills to save the girls and bring down a vicious crime lord.

Matt Cirulnick (Absentia) wrote the screenplay for Rambo V (previously rumored to be titled Rambo: Last Blood), which Avi Lerner and Kevin King will produce.

Millennium was previously planning a Rambo reboot movie with Israeli helmer Ariel Vroman (The Iceman, Criminal) behind the camera and Brooks McLaren penning the script with the aim of recasting the role created in David Morrell’s 1972 novel “First Blood” and popularized in the four films starring Sylvester Stallone. There were also plans for a proposed Rambo: New Blood TV series at FOX that were also abandoned. Despite Stallone stating in 2016 that he was too old to take on the part again, the plan is for the 71-year-old actor to reprise the role one more time.

“The heart’s willing, but the body says, ‘Stay home!’” Stallone said in 2016. “It’s like fighters that go back for one last round and get clobbered. Leave it to someone else.”

Stallone last played the role of John Rambo in 2008’s Rambo, which earned $113.2 million worldwide on a $50 million budget. He also wrote and directed that film.

I guess Stallone has taken some vitamins, said some prayers, and is going to give it one last go.

Here's a new image. Sly said he'll be posting a new image every few days. Can't wait for this. I loved the last Rambo.

The last film was very good. It's been a while since that and Sly's not getting any younger so now's the time to do this if he's going to do it. Along with Rocky this is his character so I'm sure he'll put on a great performance. Will the film be any good however, it's a 50/50 I think. I know I'll like it since I'm a stickler for action movies!

This could be... solidly entertaining? The kind of flick I generally have zero hope or expectation for. But as mentioned, the last one was quite well done. They kept I simple. If they do the same here.... no reason it couldn't be another really good action flick.

Yeah really cool Trailer I'm sold to see it. I wonder he's talking like these people coming for him are people upset at him for people he killed in the past right? Maybe this has ties to the first film maybe hmm.

Is it just 90 minutes of him shooting defenseless farm animals?

I'll probably see it, but can they top IV in kills? IV had more in that single movie than all the other Rambo's combined.

Re: Rambo V: Last Blood (2019)

I don't see what everyone else is seeing... Maybe it's because I was never a huge Rambo fan in the first place - I didn't mind the films, I just wasn't huge into them - but the story for this (from the trailers at least) looks trite and while the action looks cool and kinda makes me think they're painting Rambo in the same colours as a Jason Vorhees or Michael Myers, having him stalk his victims, I don't know if I can get passed the bog standard, yawnfest of Rambo's manpain and White saviour complex.

I mean, OBVIOUSLY I'm gonna end up watching it, that's a given - but nothing about this screams see it in theatre's or even watch it on first release. This is a prime example of Netflix Watchlist material that sits there for months until there's nothing else to do and I'm in the right mood for it.
