Pretty sure I remember watching a World of Sport where he had the most condescending match ever. He was wrestling circles around a young kid (might've been Young David aka Davey Boy Smith) and it was like you were watching someone get taught to wrestle. Saint would let the kid perform moves and then encourage the crowd to clap for him. The moment Saint actually tried to win, it was over and he raised the kid's hand.

I remember thinking I'd be too embarrassed to wrestle again if someone did that to me.

Really? That sounds like a great story plot for a heel who would eventually get upset by an upstart.

So that's 4/5 WWE GM's now English. It appears we make good authority figures.

Cool to see Saint in this role, gotta assume if they're actually putting someone in this role that a regular show is imminent.

You'd fucking hope so, but watch it lag for another six months. ^

Saint is the man. And he was a trainer at the PC for six months and supposedly will be a key trainer in the UK PC too.

Re: WWE UK Championship Brand General Discussion Thread

I mean, the RevPro thing does suggest that this isn't just a one off pair of shows, right? If you're not utilising this talent on a regular basis in this territory from this point forward, then what's the need to restrict their ability to work, other than just being spiteful? RevPro's going to be fine, it has the New Japan guys to fall back on and plenty of British talent that hasn't been signed or approached by WWE, but the people that have signed with WWE have essentially been cut off from certain promotions where they can work and if WWE doesn't start an actual UK show, then those people are stuck. I can't imagine a WWE UK contract is earning the same as a WWE NXT contract, which is certainly not the same as a WWE main roster contract, and there's lower card guys on the main shows who could probably be earning more working regular indie shows over not working WWE's main shows every week and picking up a pay-cheque.

I hope for the talents sake that something is coming and soon.

Seems very WCW ish, i.e., we don't want you really want you but we don't want "them" having you either.

Well announcing Johnny Saint as GM this week also hints that it's not a one show thing.

I don't know why WWE are getting such a bad rap for this, it's giving people a first step on the WWE ladder while allowing them to still take indy dates on spare nights. Exclusive/semi-exclusive contracts aren't rare and are not the product of the big bad wolf. Anyone under a New Japan contract can't go work at Progress but their working relationship is with Rev-Pro, no-one from AAA can go take a booking with New Japan because of their affiliation with CMLL and I think everyone can remember the crazy contract Ricochet (and others) had with LU that delayed his WWE move for years. They're being competitive against ITV for sure, but in terms of how they're treating these guys, they are no worse than the other well known promotions out there. WWE signing up British Strong Style to the WWE UK brand and telling them who they can work for is no different to ROH signing up Marty Scurll and Will Ospreay in 2016 and telling them who they can work for.

It's not like no-one has seen Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate this past year when they aren't with NXT. They're on Progress, OTT, Attack, Fight Club Pro.

Re: WWE UK Championship Brand General Discussion Thread

This is similar to the deals WWE gave Edge, Christian, Val Venis, etc pre-OVW era. Here's a little money to fall back on, keep doing work and when we can do something with you we will. And yes, to keep them from going to WCW (or in this case, WOS/New Japan). But if the UKPC or show is coming, I suspect they won't be waiting long. Let's hope one or both are on the way.

And yeah, in theory the GM move and these deals certainly point to more shows. I'm a little worried instead of a weekly TV show (with monthly tapings) it may end up just being specials more often but I hope not. ..Though I'll take it.

Re: WWE UK Championship Brand General Discussion Thread

Here's the updated card for Night 1 now that the Download festival is over:

    * British Strong Style (Pete Dunne & Trent Seven & Tyler Bate) vs. The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong)
    * NXT Women’s Championship #1 Contender’s Match: Isla Dawn vs. Jinny vs. Killer Kelly vs. Toni Storm
    * UK Championship Tournament Match: Zack Gibson vs. Jack Gallagher.
    * UK Championship Tournament Match: Flash Morgan Webster vs. Jordan Devlin
    * UK Championship Tournament Match: Joe Coffey vs. Dave Mastiff
    * UK Championship Tournament Match: Travis Banks vs. Ashton Smith

    * The Semifinals & finals also take place on the 18th. The winner faces WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne the next day.

Mastiff and Banks a lock for the semis I reckon, other two could go either way.

EDIT: Turns out Coffey beat Tucker, which makes far more sense.

And Gulak vs Gallgher was awesome. Only 8 minutes, but it was a pretty amazing match. Gallagher showing off his Snake Pit background.
