I’d be surprised if it lasts much longer (although it feels like we’ve been saying the same for 205 live for like a year now). The brand is pretty dispensable and realistically the only guys worth holding onto now are

    -Imperium
    -Grizzled Young Vets
    -Moustache Mountsain
    -Gallus (at a push)
    -Devlin
    -Banks
    -Draganov

And maybe people like Ligero, Andrews and Webster for the sake of it. Could easily split them between the three brands. Same with the ladies, only real keepsakes are Storm, Ray, Niven and Valkyrie (maybe Jinny too).

Speaking of, would you believe me if I told not only is Main Event still a thing, but that WWE still have been finding time to tape for it the last few weeks?

For what reason. Who the fuck watches that

I’m guessing they are doing it from the PC as well? Absolute waste of everyones time and kinda depressing to here that they are making people travel to the PC just for it.

Let's be honest, WWE could pause NXT UK for 5 years and still come back to monopolise the British market.
I have a plan so cunning......

Last weeks show was a bit baller if you need an hour to kill. Owen/Davey Euro final, Devlin/Mastiff & Moustache Mountain/Undisputed Era all add up to a pretty great hour of graps.

NXT UK set to return this September

The fastest-growing brand in WWE history is back!

NXT UK will return with new episodes beginning in September.

The groundbreaking brand features the likes of NXT United Kingdom Champion WALTER, NXT UK Women's Champion Kay Lee Ray, Ilja Dragunov, Mark Andrews, Flash Morgan Webster and more.

Be sure to stay tuned to WWE's digital platforms for more information on the return of NXT UK!
This will be quite something. First shows since lockdown and #speakingout.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Pete Dunne back on the brand for a while seeing as he can't get back to the US.

    Okay, news!

Brand returns next week. Next week is Gallus vs. Amir Jordan/Kenny Williams non-title. In two weeks time, Kay Lee Ray defends the women's title against Piper Niven. Now the more interesting bit...

They're running an 8-man Heritage Cup Tournament, which is essentially being competed under WOS rules/British Rounds system. The 7 confirmed names are:

    Flash Morgan Webster
    Noam Dar
    Alexander Wolfe
    A-Kid
    Dave Mastiff
    *sighs* Joseph Conners
    Trent Severn

Re: NXT UK General Discussion Thread

I find it odd that they’ve got shows booked and then they have the rebrand in two weeks? Could they not have come back rebranded with all this news and excitement? Anyway, I’m really excited to see NXT UK return, it feels painfully overshadowed when in actuality it’s a lot more solid a lot earlier on than NXT was. Intrigued with the Heritage Cup, I always feel a bit iffy about titles being defended that aren’t the traditional belt.

Re: NXT UK General Discussion Thread

    I watched the return tonight.

The BT Studio is very nice and the production was very good.

However, from first viewing. I think NXT UK feeds off the crowd and without one it just was not the same at all.

The promotional video done for the Heritage Cup which is assume was done by BT Sport (I could be wrong) was done well.

It was a first show after 6 months so after the cobwebs are gone maybe next week will be better.

Re: NXT UK General Discussion Thread

At a zoom meeting on 9/24, the talent was told Glen Joseph, the former co-owner of Progress and head writer of NXT U.K., has left the promotion due to personal reasons and that Jim Smallman, another former co-owner of Progress is now head writer for the brand. Joseph was with Progress through June, when he left his post over allegations by women against him. Smallman left Progress at the end of this past year to work full-time for WWE. NXT U.K., headed by Paul Levesque, is actually run by Shawn Michaels and Matt Bloom, but Smallman will be head writer and in charge of tapings since Levesque, Bloom and Michaels can’t travel to the U.K. and back right now.

ITR Wrestling reported the talent is all together at the U.K gym for a three-week training session prior to the next tapings. Usually the talent is brought in for one week to practice for the tapings. The change is because there was a feeling at the last tapings the ring work wasn’t good. A number of matches ended up being re-shot because they weren’t good on the first shooting. Some blamed this on people not having wrestled for months. It’s also reported that WWE has signed more European talent which will start debuting on upcoming tapings. U.K. talent was also told that they could no longer sell their merchandise, which had been allowed as a way to make money since the U.K. contracts are for a low amount. They also have to follow the WWE main roster restrictions of not working with any third party companies, which were also previously allowed. People aren’t happy because most U.K. contracts range from $24,000 to $36,000 per year, although the top guy (Walter and maybe a couple of others) are believed to be well over triple the higher end because they had to make him an offer of real money to get him. Walter was in the range of most of the high-end NXT guys in the U.S. besides somebody like Balor who gets main roster money but was moved to NXT for the ratings war. Originally this was presented a that the talent would make most of their old money plus they’d get their WWE money and most were barely scraping by on wrestling just working indies, so even that $20,000 boost (which was what the original contracts were for) made a big difference for most.

Found this more interesting in regards to how much NXT UK talent is paid rather than the writer stuff.

Re: NXT UK General Discussion Thread

I have to say I was very skeptical about how some of the guys would perform after such a long layoff and I'm not surprised some of it had to be reshot.

I think they should be cut a little slack in that area though they went from wrestling very regularly to not at all and for some it's possibly the longest that they haven't wrestled in their career.

WALTER/Wolfe vs Ilja/Dunne this week was a strong lead in to the title match in a couple weeks. Everyone seemed on form, if there had been a crowd with some heat I could see myself nominating it in the YES/NO thread. Looking forward to a WWE version of WALTER vs Ilja.

That match did catch my eye when reading reviews today. On the watch list. Been too long since I’ve seen some of these guys wrestle.
