“Post Traumatic” by Mike Shinoda is pretty great. There’s a nice tribute to Chester Bennington on there that hit me right in the feels.

I’m excited for next week because of the new Panic! At the Disco album being released.

Finally listened to the new Parquet Courts album.

Holy shit, it’s their best album yet and a giant step up from their last album. Super diverse, and fun to listen to. I’ve had to listen to it a good three times today.

Panic! At The Disco’s “Pray for the Wicked” is so good. Fun album all around, favorite tracks are “Roaring 20s” and “One of the Drunks”.

I’ll be listening to it more this weekend.

Finally listened to the new Kanye album and was disappointed. Love Kanye and wanted to like it, but it ranged from mediocre to bad. His rapping at times felt like a dude who had completely lost it. "Yikes" is really good though.

DAYTONA is the only hip hop album ive really enjoyed but I still have to listen to the new Rocky, Nas and KIDS SEE GHOSTS.

I would rank them Rocky > Nas > Kids See Ghosts > Ye.

Also Freddie Gibbs dropped a mixtape last night called Freddie and it's really nice. Fun project, nothing really special but another solid outing for Freddie.

A brick wall to your face on the first listen. So far one of the best and heavier albums of the year for me!

If you're a fan of rock music, you have to check out Ghost's new album. Dance Macabre is one of my new favorite songs.

Since this album has come out, I have probably listened to it 100 times. Throw it on at work regularly. None of the songs were bad and it is by far their best album yet.

I've recently become a huge fan of Ghost. I don't really like when bands get overly religious, but I have a real appreciation for the music. They take some huge risks musically and that's something I love. Their songs are extremely catchy. Genesis, He Is, Dance Macabre, Rats, Square Hammer, Guleh/Zombie Queen are some of my favorites off the top of my head.

Some really.good songs you have listed there. Their cover of Avalanche and Bible are both incredible. And the fact that they rock a 5 plus minute instrumental that has a Saxophone solo, in Miasma...so fucking cool!

    I second this. It’s truly a masterpiece.

I need more Elias songs in my life.

Re: The Awesome Albums of 2018 Thread

Eminem dropped a surprise new album on Friday called “Kamikaze” and the album cover is an homage to the Beastie Boys album “License to Ill”. “Kamikaze” is a step up from last year’s “Revival”, and feels like Eminem of old. It also features a song from the Venom movie.

As per usual with it sounding like Eminem of old it has sparked some controversy with some vulgar slurs, but I don’t think Em really cares what people think at this point.

I'm not the biggest Eminem fan but I've got to say the album is pretty damn good. Not a bad track on it and I'm sure the Venom song will be better than the movie.

Best Em record since The Eminem Show if you put a gun to my head. Dude goes hard and the production is the best he's had in years. So nice to hear him again without pop hooks and garbage beats. Sounds like the bad reception to Revival (justly deserved) really lit a fire under his ass.

Re: The Awesome Albums of 2018 Thread

    I actually like Revival better.

I just prefer for Eminem to be introspective at this point in his career, over trying to remain edgy and aggressive. And the whole mocking mumble rappers thing is pretty offputting to me too, because it's just been overdone and feels like riding a wave in itself. Oh, Migos and Lil Pump aren't lyrical? You don't say. I think at this stage in his career Eminem should be trying to build up the new generation if anything. It kinda comes off pathetic to me after his last album bombed and now he wants to stir up controversy.

Plus I can't stand his yelling rap style anymore. As usual with Em I have to say the writing and the flows he was using were good for the most part, I just wasn't into Kamikaze as a whole, other than the beats.

To me my top ten rap albums this year, in no real order, are:

    DAYTONA by Pusha
    Swimming by Mac Miller
    Astroworld by Travis Scott
    KOD by J Cole
    777 by Key!
    Testing by ASAP Rocky
Beware the Book of Eli by Ski Mask the Slump God
Kids See Ghosts by Ye and Cudi
Vacation in Hell by Flatbush Zombies
    TA13OO by Denzel Curry

Tons of honorable mentions too I put over Kamikaze.
