More tough news for MLW. I hope they work it out and Pillman can finish out his contract like MJF did.

    Re: MLW Discussion Thread

Yeah, we were discussing that in the AEW thread. I feel Pillman is better placed in MLW at this stage of his career, but AEW is running shows right now, and that's the only way he's gonna develop.

As for Al Sabah, I dunno dude seems like trouble. I know a lot has come out this month, but he comes across as someone who wanted out of a contract he shouldn't have signed.

    Re: MLW Discussion Thread

I can't figure out how to link videos here on my phone, but did anyone else check out the first episode of MLW Underground they remastered and released last night? Just finished watching it, thought it was really good and hope they continue releasing them.

    Jerry Lynn versus La Parka
    Christopher Daniels versus Vampiro
Appearances by Raven, Corino, Joey Styles.

Felt like I was watching the current direction of Stojy's ECW Booker come to life.

Signing Jacob Fatu until 2025 is a huge move for MLW.

I'm sure there is a way to work similar to MJF and Pillman have/had.

Have MLW started running shows again yet?

I keep getting recordings on my DVR but I haven't checked if they're still releasing old footage which actually was quite fun to watch back on- or if they're filming again now.

Tying down Fatu is HUGE! Good on them. Big fan of his and it wouldn't be the same without him.

Not yet, and nothing has been announced either.

Read a DBS interview yesterday, his contract is up in December. Basically amounted to him leaving if they aren't running shows by then

    Re: MLW Discussion Thread

MLW was my favorite show prior to the pandemic.

It wasn't perfect, but I loved the shows. ECW comparisons aside, Bauer knows how to assemble a roster, build it and plans for losses better than most. The way he has weathered the losses of MJF, Teddy Hart, Sammi Calighan, etc by having an open free form booking style that lets talent be replaced without the show feeling like its starting over again. It builds on what it has well.

I'm just hoping COVID doesn't kill it and they have enough stored away to make it to next year.

    Re: MLW Discussion Thread

The good news is that MLW have signed a couple more distribution deals during Covid-19, so they're still making money throughout all this.

I'd be happy to start watching again once they're back, but I know they wanna get off Youtube ASAP and that's how I access the show.

    Re: MLW Discussion Thread

It will be tough for me to follow them if they leave Youtube.

I always assumed that they would quit posting full Fusions and have more a highlight show on Youtube similar to what Impact does.

At this point in their development, I see no reason for them to completely pull away from a platform that they have leveraged better than most North American companies.

The problem is that no wrestling company apart from WWE makes any significant money from YouTube. A highlights show like you mentioned will at least keep them relevant without spending any additional money on their product.

    Re: MLW Discussion Thread

I assumed The NWA was making something. I'm not sure what their operating costs are, however.

Whatever the situation, I see your point. I dread them leaving the medium in the form of Fusion. It has been the highlight of my wrestling week for over a year.
