i think size is less of an issue when gargano is the opponent. more so the issue they have is the role just isnt really ciampaish id assume

Yeah, I don't think of Ciampa as a small guy, mostly because of his style and how he carries himself. It's more that his character feels too much of a lone wolf to be anyone's subordinate, let alone someone like Miz.

Who cares about any of this? Just make Miz/Ciampa vs Bryan/Gargano (really just want Bryan to be in a tag for a little while is the main point and Gargano is my favorite candidate because I think they're the two best pure babyfaces and AJ too big of a star)

If you're after a tag team, put him with Braun and he can beat The Bar in 18 seconds.

That would actually be awesome, plus it could lead to a Bryan vs Cesaro match

I find it highly unlikely that one bad bump is gonna kill him or leave him permanently brain damaged like some people fear, WWE have the medical records and advice in front of them and would never take the risk if it's not a safe bet. I'm also sure if he suffers a concussion again, then that'll probably be that and Bryan can reassess his options. Also if he's wrestling again, there's no safer place for him to do it than WWE with their medical team, I'm assuming their instance that he gets regularly tested, and he doesn't need to be so balls to the wall with his wrestling style.

The wrestling fan in me is salivating at the matches he could have here:
    Vs AJ
    Vs Nakamura
    Vs Miz
    Vs Lesnar
    Vs Joe
    Vs Braun
    Vs Zayn
    Vs Cena again
    Vs Roman again
    Vs everyone

Teaming with Shane to take on KO and Zayn wouldn't be my first choice for his return match, but god damn that just raised the anticipation for one of the few matches at mania I wasn't into. What a night this is going to be.
Pretty much this. While it is worrisome, I feel that he wouldn’t have so many people telling him he can do it if he couldn’t do it.

I do feel this is definitely them looking at the landscape of the professional wrestling market right now and realizing it’s fragile as fuck and a name like Bryan or Punk would tip the scale.

There’s no way he’s wrestling full time, I imagine he will have a Lesnar type wrestling schedule, probably remain GM of Smackdown. So of the limited matches we will get, I am definitely into all the ones mentioned above except I wouldn’t waste one on Cena/Reigns just cause they’ve happened already.

Gargano is a good shoutout and I would kill for Gable/Bryan if they give Gable a singles run at the US Title.

I wouldn’t count him out or leaving though. There will be huge offers out there and everyone will be talking about him leaving and there is money in Omega/Okada/Naito/Punk.

Heyman and Lesnar could be in the market too for all we know. It is entirely possible that Lesnar shows up and F5s Naito in 2018. I’m sure he would get paid what he wanted to do it? You know why? Because NNPW and Brock Lesnar would do fuckin money.

If I were him I’d dip. There will always be the WWE to come back to, but the indies might not be this hot for years and without a name like Danielson they might just fizzle.

What a great time for ROH’s new streaming service to not have the bulk of Bryan’s matches available.

Did not think I'd ever hear the words 'Daniel Bryan Cleared to Wrestle' after all the heartbreaking hubbub. Can't stop grinning now, and while I'm quite clearly delighted by this, I can't help but admit I'll be watching his first match back in action nervously, worried sick with every bump he'd take.

Re: Daniel Bryan Cleared by WWE to Wrestle

I don't think there's a person reading this thread that wants DB to wrestle if there's a chance he might get seriously injured, but if we put aside all that, -Because given how seriously the WWE deals with the issue of concussion I don't believe for a second he would be allowed near a ring unless a million doctors said he was fine to wrestle- If we ignore all our worries and assume DB is ok. What a fucking achievement for the guy.

How often in ANY sport do we see someone suffer a serious career ending injury...Then fight their way to get a second chance? I just think of his retirement speech and that infamous picture of Brie Bella comforting him as he broke down backstage, just heartbroken...and how he must be feeling now. You could FEEL the joy radiating off him on smackdown, I've never seen someone throw dropkicks in the corner so enthusiastically like he did last night. It was like watching a dog being let outside after spending a day cooped up inside.

I think both in WWE canon and just as a wrestler, I don't think anyone can deny that his legacy is fighting impossible odds and somehow seemingly though nothing more then sheer passion and determination winning when no one thinks he can

-He was fired TWICE by the WWE and came back both times
-He almost had his eye punched out of his head in ROH and still finished the match
-Despite his size and look SOMEONE mainevented wrestlemania when the plan all along was for him to compete in a throw away opener
-Lost the world title belt in 21 seconds...and somehow ended up being the most popular guy on the roster because of it
-Suffered a career ending injury....and then came back. Only to suffer ANOTHER one...and came back again.

Kevin Nash said this about Scott Hall in a doc about him, but I think I can use it to describe Daniel Bryan in a more positive context

"The only way you're going to kill this man is to tie him down and drive a stake through his heart"

The most amazing thing about this recent conversation is that I've learned AON is even more of a waste of space than I thought he was previously

Re: Daniel Bryan Cleared by WWE to Wrestle

Anyone else see this all as a work and have Daniel Bryan turn on Shane McMahon and aligning himself with Owens and Zayn and reveal that Shane cannot fire him as GM and the three men run rampant over Smackdown much like the nWo did in the mid 90s. An indy takeover would also allow the WWE to utilize some of the guys like Gargano, Ciampa, and many of the smaller "indy" type wrestlers down in NXT.

Re: Daniel Bryan Cleared by WWE to Wrestle

Very good news, not that I'm hugely surprised. I've always been of the opinion that WWE would eventually clear him since he's simply worth too much money to let go. He made it clear that he was walking unless they clear him so better that he's with them than anywhere else.

I hope that he wrestles on more of a Cena-esque schedule as opposed to a schedule more similar to Lesnar, HHH, Angle, Shane and so on as I'd like to see him wrestle a bit more regularly than those latter guys. I'd also like to see him ditch the GM job so that he can be a regular member of the roster again.
However, I think he will in the end wrestle a very limited schedule like the HHH's, Lesnars and Angles and he'll remain as the GM, at least for now.

I don't mind how they announced it, it was a smart way to give Smackdown a ratings boost from the beginning. I also don't mind that his first match back is going to be a tag team match with Shane vs Owens and Zayn. It's a safe first match back for him and at this point, given the sotryline he's been in recently, that's the most sensible match for him to be in, rather than force him into a 'dream match' with someone (plenty of choices there) and have very little build to it.

As far as who I'd like to see him go up against, the list is endless. So much potential for so many great matches.

Bryan vs Miz is #1 right now, without question. That match has to happen at some point. The IC title was the last title Bryan won and he never lost it. Miz is on a quest to become the best IC champ of all time, and on top of that there's just so such history between them dating way back to when Miz was Bryan's 'Pro' on the old NXT.
    Bryan vs Styles
    Bryan vs Nakamura
    Bryan vs Rollins
    Bryan vs Reigns
    Bryan vs Owens
    Bryan vs Zayn
    Bryan vs Shane

The one match I'm desperate for though is Bryan vs Angle. Angle's been pretty vocal in the past about wanting his final match to be against Bryan and now there's a real chance that match could actually materialise.

If anyone was still wondering why they announced this online before the show, Smackdown did it's highest rating since April last year.

The best tag partner for Bryan would be Cena. They can even be called Bella Boyz

Re: Daniel Bryan Cleared by WWE to Wrestle

I found this out this morning and it's just fucking wonderful. Watched my first episode of SmackDown in I don't even know how long to see Bryan make the announcement and for the angle (I skipped most of the other stuff to be honest) and while, of course, I'm nervous for him, he's been cleared by top specialist after top specialist after top specialist since before he was even forced to retire so I feel like he's probably not as fragile as they've made him out to be - given how hard he, Owens and Zayn went at it, I'd say that was pretty much confirmed, because if anyone can work a safer, more technical style in the ring and make it entertaining, it's Daniel Bryan Danielson!

Last week, I was kinda meh about the Owens/Zayn/Shane stuff and now I'm excited as fuck for a tag team match that will likely see Shane, Shane McMahoning his ass off and Daniel Bryan just being seventeen different shades of fantastic.
