The problem with the Browns wasn't players though last year. The roster's pretty good though QB was a hole. There's no reason at all they should have went 0-16.

Then you look at their Head Coach hasn't changed & realize they're going nowhere.

The Browns will either become a really good team this year, or they will be god awful. There are no in-betweens with that mess. With Tyrod Taylor though, they actually have a decent chance in the coming years.

Re: 2018 NFL Offseason Discussion Thread

I'm not sure why people think that Tyrod Taylor is the QB the Browns want leading them out onto the field over the next few years. It seems more likely to me that he's just going to be the starter until the QB they draft is ready to take over and then he'll be relegated to backup duty. He'll be a stable backup mind you, so the deal is a good one, but it's not like he's the QB that's going to have them beating the Ravens or the Steelers.

I still think they're going to draft Barkley first overall and the QB they like the most at 4th, although lately there's been some buzz that they're going to be completely idiotic and pass over Barkley to take Sam Darnold. That would be a very Browns thing to do so it wouldn't shock me and would pretty much be the three steps backward to counteract the ones they just made forward with their deals yesterday.

I'm sure they won't be looking to have Taylor as the starter for years to come but for the moment, he's a good addition and someone who can HOPEFULLY help then snag a few wins this season, and get the ball rolling on the rebuild.

Re: 2018 NFL Offseason Discussion Thread

Cleveland has agreed to acquire Jarvis Landry from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a 2018 fourth-round draft pick and a 2019 seventh-rounder, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
I do think the Browns should bring in a backup quarterback, cause I don't see Kessler to be the right guy behind Taylor if he gets hurt or plays inconsistent enough to lose his starting job. If the Browns don't draft a quarterback, maybe they sign Brees to a lucrative contract for 2-3 seasons, since his contract for the Saints had expired. They got the cap space to do it. If they do, they may get one in the second-round, and maybe the fourth-round which Fuji mentioned.

I actually meant they'd use the 4th pick in the first round to get their QB of the future but it would also be a very Browns thing to do to wait until the 4th round.

I had it mixed up somehow. I'm speculating they may use that fourth pick to get Minkah Fitzpatrick, which I could be wrong. They could really use a defensive player to help that defense, because they gave up 410 points total in their winless season.

I truly and honestly don't see even all these good moves being enough to do a great deal of good for this organization.

I mean, I think the teams track record speaks for itself.

I'm sure there's more moves the Browns will make, not counting the NFL Draft.

I just wish they had fire Hue Jackson after two seasons, because he's obviously not winning games. Veteran coaches like Jim Caldwell, John Fox and Chuck Pagano, should get another coaching opportunity by giving them a chance to turn the Browns around. If they're smart enough to fire Jackson and hire a good coach, then they may finally become a winning in the future.

Re: 2018 NFL Offseason Discussion Thread

The trouble there is they're not going to fire Jackson before the season starts. At the very least they'll probably have to lose a few games before the front office considers doing that, which will already have them in a hole.

Re: 2018 NFL Offseason Discussion Thread

Hue is like Norv, great offensive coordinator who can do a lot of good. As a Head Coach he's terrible.

Compare their offense to the Panthers in terms of players last year. I watched every single one of their games and they were a playoff team. Outside of Cam & maybe CMC (though Duke is good too) the Browns are significantly better at every position. The D, their secondary is better & the D-Line was comparable. But the problem is Hue is so awful the team quit on him, they were totally screwing up the QBs and what he was doing. Even the RBs which were a strong point were misused situationally. They'll never reach their potential under him.

I like Tyrod a lot more than the Bills did. He plays with heart, is a solid dual threat that can make a couple of plays a game, won't hurt you with bad decisions, he's a perfect QB for a team like Cleveland.

Cousins reportedly to the Vikings for 27 Million well damn. When I see a deal like that, it makes me shutter to think what will the deals look like for some of the QB deals to come for younger talent who have been more successful in less time like Dak and Wentz.

Re: 2018 NFL Offseason Discussion Thread

I feel like the Browns owed Hue Jackson a chance to try to win with actual talent to use. After the moves they made, even if they don't draft Barkley, a good coach should be able to win games.

Granted even with the two teams Jackson had last year, Bill Belichick probably could have at least gone 8-8 one of those years. Good coaches find a way to win.

But still, Browns always fire coaches too early. Now that Hue has some tools to work with he's going to have no excuse.

Free-agent cornerback Richard Sherman has agreed to a three-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

    ESPN
Well there you go guys, Sherman has finally found a home, competing against his former team and 49ers' divisional rivals the Seahawks.

Sherman to the Niners yeah I thought he would go to a team better suited to compete now rather than three or four years from now. Still he's going to help that young group of talent no doubt.
