Re: Impact Wrestling General Discussion Thread

Fightful Select have now reported that a backstage fight between Michael Elgin and former World Champion Sami Callihan could be the reason. The report states that the fight erupted after the two disagreed over how a match involving Ken Shamrock should start. Scott D'Amore had to step in and break the fight.

Fightful has learned of a physical altercation involving IMPACT Wrestling stars Michael Elgin and Sami Callihan. Fightful was told that the two recently were setting up a match that also involved Ken Shamrock, and disagreed on how the match should start. The disagreement escalated to the point where the two ended up fighting and Scott D'Amore had to step in. Not that it's related, but IMPACT also released a statement today stating that Elgin will no longer appear on their programming. He was involved in the planned Slammiversary main event, and a Team Canada tease.
This has been floating around on Sportskeeda as one of the reasons why Elgin's suspension turned into a release.

I think the Super Eric thing is a tease and he'll just be himself on the show.

To be fair the Eric Young/Robert Roode feud was one of the things that got me into TNA at the time, so he's had some pretty good moments

Young had plenty of good moments. Guy won virtually everything he could win in the company, succeeded as a serious and comedy wrestler, found success as a tag and singles wrestler, and there was even a point in 2006 where he may have been the most popular act in the company.

Eric Young had a fairly prolific career with Impact so I wouldn't doubt they could make a top 20 list.

Young winning that TNA World Title an amazing moment... even though the timing of it was just badly chosen.

EY was a great, diverse talent for TNA. I'm a mark for his World Elite days, and that's one of his less remembered runs.

Apologies, I only really saw a Young during his 2010ish run where his character was slightly brain dead.

Well, that was the case for a lot of his career, but I feel like that isn't relevant. For the sake of comparison, just look at R-Truth. Only counting his run as a comedy character, you could easily make a great little compilation video of his best moments. EY is in that same boat, only he was likely more accomplished in TNA than Truth in WWE (24/7 reigns notwithstanding). I mean the man was there for over a decade, won the World Title and is one of only five Grand Slam champions in the company's history.

To be honest when I look at people who TNA could put into their Hall of Fame, Young might be one of the most deserving outside of the obvious absentees like AJ and Joe who can't cause they're in WWE atm. The guy did everything in the company. When I think Eric Young, I think TNA.

To me, Eric Young and Mike Tenay are the first guys I'd try to get in there next.
