Kevin Kelly vs Zero at WK13 is a lock. Start a twitter beef and you might end up co main eventing with Okada and whoever he's beating.

I'd pay money to see this.

Not a fan of commentators saying you must like this wrestler. Fans have their own opinions.

Kevin Kelly looks like every white dad I've ever met and with them "Go to hell" is usually the go-to insult when their wives complain about them not making enough money.

    Re: NJPW General Discussion Thread

When it comes to commentary on anything these days I almost always tune it out to a certain degree because there's not a single team today that doesn't have more bad than good; at least in English speaking booths. I listen to Callis and Kelly to get an idea of stuff I might have missed because I miss some New Japan shows here and there but I've often found that when watching Japanese wrestling, even though I don't understand it, it's better to watch with Japanese commentary because they react way better. Even if I don't know what's being said I can use context to at least garner what the feeling behind it is. Meanwhile the English commentary is either way more reserved or sounds forced when they do get excited.

    Re: NJPW General Discussion Thread

Did he get injured in the Rush match? I heard somewhere that he got injured at the beginning of the tour but stuck out the injury till the end of the tour. Either way, according to PWInsider he will be out for at least six months which is a shame. Kojima has been a great hand in the roster. I was hoping that Kojima would face Okada at the 46th Anniversary. Hope he has a full recovery.

Strong Style Evolved tickets have sold out within 20 minutes of going on sale. 4.5k. Not bad. Can't wait for Billy Gunn vs Jay White main event

Nope. I don't think they'll start doing that until shows stop selling out beforehand.

    Re: NJPW General Discussion Thread

I was gonna start a new thread for this, but I don't think the discussion would last long enough to justify it so I'll just put it here. Like, we all know the NEVER 6-Man belts are wasted belts and are basically there as an excuse to have a title change when the Junior Tag belts aren't on the card. It's a shame too, because I think the 6-Man titles could be great and a unique way to seperate themselves from WWE. But if you guys were Gedo, how would you go about making the NEVER 6-Man belts actually MEAN something?

In my opinion, something I've already stated in the Being The Elite thread and to others, they should actually let Fale and G.O.D. have a fuckin good run with the belts. I know Los Ingobernables had the belts for months, but they did sweet fuck all with them their entire reign. Fale and the Guerrillas are really good, especially Guerrillas. NJPW have exchange agreements with RPW and ROH, why not actually utilise them? Let BC go to these places and defend their titles. I dunno, sorry if I've just wasted a reply, it's just I feel a Trios belt that is actually used correctly would be an awesome undercard attraction.

    Re: NJPW General Discussion Thread

I don't think letting people go to other promotions and defend the belts would really work. How many Japanese fans do you think watch promotions like RPW and ROH? Probably not the casuals.

The thing is - the belts aren't meant to have a ton of prestige behind them. They're just there to make house shows fun and make the lower card more competitive in a way. They all have something to fight over. I think they're in the right spot and the hot potato stuff is just natural with how competitive the lower card is. A long reign can maybe help make a feud interesting but the belts are never going to find a high level and plateau out there, IMO.

They do a lot of multi man tag matches on the house shows, so it makes sense to have them. As you said though, they're not going to be very prestigious.

I think they should be used in ROH when they do their joint shows. Why not?

Michael Elgin has signed a new 2 year contract with New Japan, so he's going nowhere.

What happened to only signing gaijin to yearly contracts?

I'm pretty much in the dark about the Elgin situation. I read one article about what's going on with him in his personal life right now and while it didn't paint him in a good light at all, it seems like others have read far more about it than I and have a far worse opinion of the man. From what I gathered, he didn't punish a guy working for him for what was either sexual harassment or a sexual assault on one of his students, and since he did nothing she revealed the details of it and outed him as complicit; which is totally fair, she reported an issue to him that he had power over and he ignored that issue, he needs to know that's not cool - but people are talking like he's the predator in the situation and now I'm lost because while being inactive in that situation was shitty, I've not seen anything about him actual assaulting or harassing someone himself.

Have I missed a huge chunk of this story?

He’s suing “Moses Malone” who is claiming that he was abusive and a predator. She at one point posted screen shots of private talks between them on Twitter.

At one point he also said a bunch of really bad stuff about Jeff Cobb, which he has since apologized for.

So is she accusing him of sexual assault? Because that's not the story I read and now I'm even more confused.
