Shootings have been on the up since I moved to Ottawa.

I'll be honest, I don't think I care too much about the ban of it.

This article is interesting. A detective in Quebec talks about how in the 70s Montreal used to be 50% of all murders. Now Montreal is pretty low. He says guns laws and police cracking down on organised crime is why Montreal has become safer.

Between this and the EPA being used as a for profit to remove anything standing in the way between corporate greed at all costs, we have a pretty big problem here.

My biggest issue with the administration has always been their anti-science stance. And this is a prime example of it.

Other countries are phasing out coal and fossil fuels, and promoting cleaner and more modern alternatives. And that's exactly what we should be doing.

Not reading anything, not replying to anything.

I just have to come in here and give a big to ho bag Stormy Daniels being ordered by a Judge to pay $290k to President Trump in legal fees because of her frivolous "defamation" case.

They laid waste to our land, they took it from our hand
From Atlanta to Savannah, they scorched our earth
They stole our corn and wheat, they left no food to eat
They slaughtered all the cattle, took the things of worth
Well, we got women and children too
    Just the same as you
Ain't it enough just to know that you got us beat

The hatred will never cease, even now that there's peace
The feelings will run as deep as the scars we bear
This ain't cloth we wear it's a rag, we're at the mercy of the carpetbag
What you call justice is plain unfair
How the hell can you ever claim
It's been worth all of the pain
Just to have us live together under one flag

As for Stormy, not really surprised.

Per usual, in light of other recent happenings..Trump is using his wall and strong arm threats of shutting down the government as a distraction.

Why would the GOP intentionally shutdown the Government and be proud of it when these people would be affected?

    •Federal employees
    •Small business owners
•Vets if it last more than 2 weeks
•CDC will halt flu plan during flu season
    •WIC program

    Just laughable.

Re: The Civil NA Politics Thread

This Meng Wanzhou news is just getting started. Shes the ceo of a huge telecommunications company, Huawei( outsells Apple). She was arrested by Canada at the request by the US. She was arrested in Vancouver.

China threatened Canada that there will be grave consequences if she isnt released. They have banned Canada Goose jackets and their stock fell 40 % in one day. They also arrested a Canadian diplomat.

Im not big on Canada goose jackets so fuck them. Canada was put into a hard spot on this. We were trying to negotiate trade deals with China. These maybe out the window now.

I dont want to sound like a conspiracy nut here but its so convinient that this occurs when the US is in a trade dispute with China and this happens. Now our ties with China are comprimised. I actually think we shouldnt have gone through with this. She also owns two houses in Canada

Huawei is a very solid company, with very high quality phones, laptops, and tablets. Almost at the level of Apple craftsmenship, but at a fraction of the price. I have to wonder how Huawei responds, given the situation and their reputation at stake.

Of course, China threatened and is throwing a fit. Anytime anything involves one of their own, regardless of what they do, they do this. A lot of Chinese in Canada are up in arms about it, as well. Protesting, and the like.

It depends on if the US can atleast prove the company was doing business with Iran and proof of some kind of spy equipment. I understand this is the reason for the arrest.

Apparently the company is the biggest private chinese company.

Well, it's not really Huawei itself that is the issue. It's a company that is claimed to be entirely controlled by Huawei, which appears to be illegally dealing with Iran.

She is being accused of saying she was allotting money for Huawei, but instead it was for another company (Skycom) and misappropriating funds and defrauding banks.

It's tricky to tell so far, though..Because the company is reportedly completely controlled by Huawei.

It's definitely coming at an interesting time, given the trade situation between the China and the USA. And now, we involve Canada..also going through a trade situation with the US.

I think China has made it's stance pretty clear; they are sticking with their own. It's a Chinese citizen and CEO of a Chinese company, and that's that to them.

Huawei is a very popular alternative to Apple products, due to a pretty similar build quality and fraction of the price. They are pretty respected in the tech community. However..top snip from their wikipedia:

Although successful internationally, Huawei has faced difficulties and cybersecurity concerns selling in some markets (such as the United States), over allegations that its equipment may contain backdoors that could enable unauthorized surveillance by the Chinese government and by the People's Liberation Army (citing, in particular, its founder having previously worked for the Army). While the company has argued that its products posed "no greater cybersecurity risk" than those of any other vendors, Huawei stated in April 2018 that it would largely pull out of the U.S. market, due to the scrutiny having impacted its activity.

So this isn't the first time they are under scrutiny in recent times.

All of this might just mean bigger business for Xiaomi (A similar large Chinese company that produces Apple competitors), and more Americans (And potentially Canadians) standing by the well reputed Apple.

    Also, here's a laugh:

    https://news.yahoo.com/sarah-huckabee-sanders-wants-remembered-052826969.html

Yes, that's exactly how you'll be remembered, Sarah.

We will also remember Hitler as a hero to the Jewish community, and Sadam Hussein as a human rights activist.

Another one, to avoid double posting.
