    2018 Celebrity Memorial Thread

Since 2017 is in the history books, I figure I create a celebrity memorial thread for 2018 for the deceased celebrities and other figures outside of wrestling.

Jerry Van Dyke, who emerged from the shadow of his older brother Dick to forge a successful comedy and acting career of his own, most memorably on the sitcom "Coach," reportedly died Friday at his home in Arkansas. He was 86.

Jerry Van Dyke also famously turned down the role of Gilligan although I think that may have been a blessing in disguise because I've never been able to envision anyone but Bob Denver playing that character. He also turned down a character that would have replaced Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith Show. Amazing that he never really seemed to be all that bummed out about it and that he still managed to create a very memorable character with Luther Van Dam. RIP.

The younger brother of Dick Van Dyke, who struggled for decades to achieve his own stardom before clicking as the dim-witted sidekick in television’s “Coach,” has died in Arkansas. Jerry Van Dyke was 86.

Van Dyke’s manager, John Castonia, said Van Dyke died Friday at his ranch in Hot Spring County. His wife, Shirley Ann Jones, was by his side. No cause was immediately known.

Until “Coach” came along in 1989, Van Dyke was best known to critics as the guy who had starred in one of television’s more improbable sitcoms, 1965′s “My Mother the Car.”

I thought he came later but that Eddie was in the more classic lineup. Still it's sad to hear about his passing as Motorhead was the shit.

    RIP Fast Eddie

All within like the last two years too.

One of the best band line ups ever. All three guys ruled and it’s hard to beat prime Motörhead.

Legendary college football announcer Keith Jackson passed away two days ago, at the age of 89.

The guy's truly an icon in the world of college football. He was terrific announcing his final game, the 2006 Rose Bowl between Texas vs. USC. He's now reunited with Howard Cosell and Don Meredith in heaven.

    RIP

Very sad. Groundbreaking Irish band. Great singer. She was one of our best and brought a uniquely Irish/Celtic flavour to her music, under appreciated, RIP.

One of the beautiful voices of music sadly gone.

The song she sings "Linger," suddenly hit me in the movie Click when it was played in numerous part of the movie. Terrific song by the singer.

Donna Newman: Will you still love me in the morning?
Michael Newman: Forever and ever, babe.

    RIP Dolores.
