WWE NXT WWE NXT Discussion: January 3rd, 2018

NXT preview, Jan. 3, 2018: Special two-hour 2017 Year in Review
Look back at NXT’s momentous 2017 with a special two-hour Year in Review hosted by Mike Rome and Kayla Braxton. Tonight’s NXT also features exclusive interviews with Andrade “Cien” Almas and Johnny Gargano about their upcoming NXT Title Match at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia, an announcement regarding NXT Year-End Awards, never-before-seen footage of Drew McIntyre vs. Adam Cole, and more!

El Idolo and Johnny Wrestling look ahead to NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia
In perhaps the most heartwarming feel-good story of 2017, Johnny Gargano went from down and out to sitting in the catbird seat following his incredible Cinderella run in the tournament to decide NXT Champion Andrade “Cien” Almas’ next opponent.

Now that Johnny Wrestling is officially slated for his long-awaited title opportunity at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia, the NXT Universe will get its first chance to hear directly from both the challenger and champion tonight in exclusive sit-down interviews.

What’s Gargano’s mindset heading into the biggest match of his career, and how are the ever-confident El Idolo and Zelina Vega preparing for the beloved Superstar’s challenge? Find out tonight at 8/7 C on the award-winning WWE Network.

An announcement will be made regarding the 2017 NXT Year-End Awards
At the end of each year, the NXT Universe rises to the call and cast their votes to decide the top movers, shakers and influencers in sports-entertainment’s hottest brand as part of NXT’s annual Year-End Awards.

Tonight, the 2017 Year-End Awards come into focus with a huge announcement, exclusively on WWE NXT. Be sure to watch when the news breaks on the award-winning WWE Network!

Watch never-before-seen footage of McIntyre and Cole’s NXT Title Match with HBK as referee
Tonight’s look back at the brightest moments of 2017 includes not just highlights from NXT on WWE Network, but also, for the first time, footage of one of the biggest matches in NXT Live Event history: Drew McIntyre vs. Adam Cole.

The two rivals battled at NXT Live in San Antonio in November, just one night before McIntyre lost the NXT Title to Andrade “Cien” Almas. Making the occasion all the more historic was WWE Hall of Famer (and San Antonio native) Shawn Michaels’ role as the bout’s special guest referee.

Don’t miss out on this never-before-seen footage of HBK donning the stripes for the Scottish Superstar’s title clash with The Undisputed ERA’s irrepressible front man, Bay-Bay.

Get an up-close look at new NXT Women’s Champion Ember Moon
Few Superstars experienced the extreme highs and lows that Ember Moon endured in 2017. NXT’s War Goddess fought tooth-and-nail all year long in pursuit of the evasive NXT Women’s Title. She persevered through the valleys — including falling short in her quest to dethrone the undefeated Asuka as champion and suffering an untimely injury — and came back to finish out 2017 stronger than ever, claiming the NXT Women’s Title at TakeOver: WarGames in November.

Now, finally, Moon presides over the black-and-yellow brand’s hotly competitive division. Learn more about the dynamic Superstar tonight when NXT takes an in-depth look at the master of the Eclipse, exclusively on WWE Network at 8/7 C.

Did anyone watch this show? It was overlong but had some really great stuff on it. The Cole/McIntyre match was a lot of fun, and the two segments focusing on Gargano and Moon were great; the Ember Moon one was genuinely phenomenal, really gave me an insight into her journey, helped me connect to her on a whole new level, and made me realise that they are overscripting the poor girl because when you just let her talk about the shit she cares about she's engaging as fuck.
