Great class of class acts. Vlad is def my favorite of the bunch. Cox must still be stroking his dick about Chippah.

Yeah Vlad was the man. Legit this guy would hit everything, even the lowest of pitches and rock the shit outta them.

Also Jim Thome one of favorite Phillies Players getting in is nice to hear. He's one of the major reasons the franchise turned the corner in the 2000's.

Awesome hall of fame class for 2018. I'm really happy to see Chipper get in the HOF in his first ballot.

In other news, the Marlins released another one:

The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired outfielder Christian Yelich from the Miami Marlins, the Brewers announced Thursday.

In return, Miami received outfielders Lewis Brinson and Monte Harrison, infielder Isan Diaz and right-handed pitcher Jordan Yamamoto.

    ESPN
The Marlins are at a rate of possibly being the worst team in baseball for the upcoming season. The roster just looks awful without their star players.

I’m so fascinated by what the Marlins are doing at the moment. Jeter in Miami has a real Phil in New York vibe right now. I respect what they’re doing but with potential showing in the last few years it just seems like rebuilding never felt like an option.

That's actually a really good trade for Miami. If they flip realmuto they'll get even more high value prospects to really make this clusterfuck turn around

Good day for the Brewers. They picked up Lorenzo Cain today too.

NL Central is going to be pretty fun this year unless you're the Pirates or the Reds.

Well, on the bright side they'll probably finish higher than the Reds and they'll definitely have more wins than the Marlins.

Also, apparently the Jays were making a move for Yelich but they balked at trading Vlad Jr. so that gives me some hope that Shapiro and Atkins aren't complete morons.

    Re: 2017-18 MLB Offseason Thread

I'm intrigued by what the Pirates are doing. The market is obviously cold for starting pitchers and outfielders, as we've seen with free agents like J.D. Martinez and Yu Darvish not getting the offers they want, so the Pirates took what they could get for McCutchen and Cole. I wonder if Josh Harrison and Ivan Nova, on super team-friendly contracts, are next.

I still think the Yankees' offer of Frazier was better than what Houston gave, but Houston gave a larger volume of B- to B+ prospects. The Pirates seem content with building around the idea of being average to above average (again) in 2021/2022.

    Re: 2017-18 MLB Offseason Thread

Harrison isn't that good they won't and shouldn't get much for him. And I think they did fine with the Astros trade. They could have taken Frazier and random noise or grab a handful of potential average players which would be HUGE for a team that doesn't spend money.

Frazier has more upside and if he really becomes a star they're in the same spot a few years from now. Plus I think Moran is gonna surprise a lot of people.

    Re: 2017-18 MLB Offseason Thread

Cubs get Darvish for $126 million/6 years, which means Arrieta is certainly not coming back to the Chubbies and will probably get a short-term deal (3-4 years) for around $70 million from another team.

Also interested if this is the first domino in the pitcher market. Still waiting on JD Martinez to land somewhere for the power-hitting outfield market to roll.

    Re: 2017-18 MLB Offseason Thread

I'd imagine the rest of the starters will fall like dominoes now. Don't see this shaking loose the positional players since the markets are different.

I think arrieta falls to the Brewers for less than he was initially seeking and it might even cause the trade market to get a little hot.

The positional sire of things is still insane. I predicted hosmer to end up back in KC at the beginning of the off-season and I think it's clear they prefer him back over moose. At this point i feel like KC could sign hosmer and maybe get moose on something like a 1 or 2 year deal. It's still gonna be interesting there

Astros better keep their noses away from JT Realmuto. I need him to stay in the National League. Stupid Miami trading their whole team away.

Blue Jays to retire Roy Halladay's number 32. It will be only the second number to be retired by the team after Roberto Alomar's number 12 (not including 42 obviously).
